Party poker segregating players

Party Poker Player Pool Unexpectedly Split Up

Keeping the winning players from the losing players essentially.
Def -ev for the regs that now have to play at much tougher tables.

  • Will kill their games. Didn't they already have new player only tables anyways?
  • They limit the number of days you have access to the new tables though.
  • I was going to post about this to warn people from PartyPoker, but I hardly see any forumers there anyway. This horrible change is like Fallsview secretly directing all the tourists and :fish:to a separate room. When winning forumers like blackmagicz, ryanghall, xx23, etc. sign in, they would be restricted to butting heads with other sharks instead of being able to play with their favourite fish. Instead of continuing to make money regularly, we suddenly can't beat the rake because the fish have been taken away from our tables! :rage:

This is similar to a scummy site rigging the RNG just to make the recreational players lose less and slowly rake everybody to death with nobody being able to win regularly. If I was a cash game player, I would clear out all my bonuses, withdraw from Party and play elsewhere where I can access the fish. :p

  • wow that is pretty horrible for any competent cash grinders on party. luckily i don't fit the description.
  • Terrible business strategy. Why do sites make stupid decisions like this?!?
  • WTF, the Revolution Gaming Network will also be categorizing poker players based on skill level and prevent some players from playing against others players starting on March 4! Party & Revolution are trying to rig poker into being unbeatable. :'(

No, they are rigging it so that they are the only ones "beating" the game via their rake structure.

    Vote with your $$$, folks.
  • It's only going to drive the solid, winning players away from the site. I don't understand why they would cater to the new players and alienate the better players. Basically shooting themselves in the foot!
  • Great topic, but one of great debate for sure. Sustainability moves always hurt someone.
Does anybody hunt or fish? Were you ok with bait bans or pinching barbs?

Makes shit a whole lot harder, but if the consumption rate is too great. Catch/slot limits? Why not let a skilled angler keep his spoils he worked for? Are the fisheries just try to get dollars for their programs or are they protecting the populations for longevity. Are the sites looking after their own interests? Probably, but won't be much action if they bust.

Deep see fishing seen changes as it evolved. The big dogs with best rigs would clean out the ocean if given chance. Oil & Gas has to be reigned in. One can say "well Stars isn't doing it", but they have made changes that hurt SNE & SN players, long time winning players leaving the game even...again a move to protecting their bottom line and make the game more appealing to recreation players that are profitable for everyone. Players see less value in mass tabling and playing strictly by computer assisted decision making that is +EV by volume but not entertaining.

He's leaving to run his own company. He speaks highly of Party...who looks good to make forward moves in USA if I am reading things right and jumps in and out of the second largest online poker site in world, holding 3rd with iron fist...owns a growing live curcuit that is gaining ground in Canada and setting records...how is that sinking?

    Jon;

I know party has really pissed off the online world.

Since their merge with bwin, eliminating higher stakes, and now segregating players, it is no longer all that enticing to play there.

Mind you their mtt's are still alright, but even that get's old. their software is hard to take after a long time compared to the "other 2" , their payouts are structured so top heavy its insane.. However their player pools are generally weaker.

Party keeps making these amazingly huge decisions with weak explanations, that only benefits their site and NOT the players. It's offensive.
  • Does anyone here actually play on Party? Just wondering.
  • Actyper, T8urmoney and BetrthanPhil are 3 people here that have cleaned up on Party, off the top of my head. Not sure if the cash game segregation really means squat to most people here.

soft tournaments always seem to suck me back in. haven't played on there for a while though now.
  • As long as the Jewish table has bagels with a nice schmear I don't see the problem
  • It's a big problem if the scummy site secretly rigs the software to hide the tables from them with all the precious caviar!

  • Just got an email from Party saying that they're going to charge me 0.30 per month that my account is inactive. WTF?

  • sorry party. i think you just lost yourself a customer. too bad you won't let me withdraw my funds since i haven't deposited on your site for months/years. i guess you'll just screw me every which way.

  • #shamelessbrag.

lol. to be honest, i hate the software so much that i don't play there very often. i probably have maybe 200 tournaments on there at best. therefore, from my limited play has allowed me to play there for a long time without deposits.
  • I hate the Party software, too. It's always slow and the lobby takes forever to populate.

They have to be losing market share and making bad decisions and creating poor policies will only hurt them more. Doesn't make any sense to me!
  • bwin.party Disappointing Poker Results
"Unique Active Players” have fallen from a post UIGEA peak of 936k in Q1 of 2010 to 597k in the last quarter of 2012. Daily revenues from poker are down €260k over the same period. :o

In an illuminating digression he suggested that whether or not PokerStars received a New Jersey license would have a substantial impact: “It is obviously clear that if PokerStars is in the market, the opportunity will be smaller. If PokerStars is out, then it’s going to be, I would assume, very much between us and Caesars.

I hate the companies that rip you off with inactivity fees. :rage:
  • i really feel like this is discrimination of some kind. i guess it's their right to do it on their site though (and our right to avoid playing there), but something just doesn't sit right with me on this matter.

^^ Agreed. I only set up an account because I got some free money. I don't ever intend on putting any on after the nonsense they're pulling.
