Fallsview Casino Poker

Just wondering if any members plan to hit the poker room next week. I will be there Wed and Thursday during the day ( 1pm to 4:30 pm) and probably both evenings too. Unfortunately I gotta work Mon and Tues so no grand opening for me.

  • Is there any way of getting there by bus? I know Rama has different coaches, but can;'t find anything for Niagara. Or Port Perry either!
  • nothing I dont think unless you hop on a Greyhound yourself. Only thing I ever heard of is the casino carting old folks back and forth.
  • Are they gonna have tourneys at the fallsview at all or just ring games?

I have heard that the WPT is coming to Fallsview for a 10K buy-in event. If they are having this one than I am confident that they would regularly run smaller buy-in events. This is all just hearsay though...

  • anyone have an idea of what limits they're planning on running at the poker room in niagara?
  • This is from an reply I received from Fallsview asking about limits and tournaments:

"Thank-you for your interest in Poker at Niagara Casinos. Yes, Poker is coming on January 10th to Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. We will be able to spread a wide range of game types (Hold 'Em, Omaha and Seven Stud) with limits from 1-5 (7 Card), 2-4, 3-6 up to 500-1000. We are also going to offer No-Limit and Pot-Limit games. We will also offer in-house tournaments but the schedule is not yet confirmed. Our first tournament is a charity celebrity tournament on the 15th of January at 1 pm.

We are opening 20 tables to begin split between Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino Resort. Casino Niagara is scheduled to open around April 1st of this year.

We look forward to seeing you at our tables.

    I hope this helps!
  • I'm gonna head over tonight to check out the layout. Don't know if I'll be able to play but I'll post whatever information I find out.
  • to bad you can't take photos in the casino, but i'll try to sneak some for the forum this weekend if i still end up going
  • layout is pretty good. Its in the corner of the casino right near a bar so I you lose its a short walk to drown your sorrows. Its not however a room, its separated from the rest of the casino by a 4 foot wall. Would of been nicer if it was done like Rama. I hate playing and hearing the god damn bells going off every 2 minutes on the slots. I didnt see a cashiers window when I was there this weekend. I hope they have one. The damn cashiers windows at fallsview are always packed and line ups are sometimes 30 people deep. I'll try to grab some photos of it this Wed with a camera phone.

  • Just got back from fallsview. Their web site said they were opening at 8:30 but when I got there at 8:00 they had all tables working and I was told they had opened at 4:00. The lists were huge with about 2 hr waits. One no limit game. As I don't waste my time with any of the other sucker games in the casino I just got back in the car and came home. I noticed the rake was 10% with a max $5.00 didn't matter what table 10-20 or 2-4 Friggin crooks. I think I will stick with Seneca.
  • 10-20 doesn't have a session fee?

    that seems ludicrious
  • Chugs... I am sure the sign on the 10-20 was a 10% rake with max 5.00. Now I took a quick walkthru but that was what I was looking for.
  • What's wrong with a $5 max rake at 10 20 or 20 40?

Obviously you don't play much underground!

Can anyone tell me the number of 10 20 and higher tables going?

    THanks
  • I made it to Fallsview last night and managed to get a seat at a $4/$8 table... after 3hrs. An hour after I sat down they told us they were changing it to a $6/$12 table.

They had numerous games running 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 6/12, 10/20 and a 1/2 no limit game (buy-in min $60 max $300). They only have 8 tables right now but they have room to expand and will shortly.

They are apparently going to accept call ins for seats (905) 371-7777. They will give you an hour to show up but if last night was any indication, it might not help much.

They have a designated cashier for poker chips but it is on the other side of the 365 lounge. They have a white board for the waiting lists but it isn't hung up on the wall so everyone crowds the desk to see what games are available and what the waits are. They also have a PA system to call out for players but it can only be heard within 50 feet of the poker room.

Overall, they have a lot of work to do to get this room running smoothly but if the crowd last night was any indication... they won't have a problem filling the seats.

I don't play alot underground, but i do on occasion and $5 isn't too high, but i think a session fee is more appropriate at that level and most casino's in canada run a session fee at that level to my understanding.
  • Dont expect a 24/7 game for a couple of weeks. Drove down there after night shift and got there at 8am, room closed. Asked one of the pit managers and he tells me they go from 12:30pm to 4 am for the next few weeks. That was not indicated in their promotional material, could have saved me a 40 min drive.
  • I had planned to go this friday, however I've got a home game to go to. I think I'm gonna wait a bit till the rest of the tables open and it calms down a bit. It will be nice when niagara opens too.
  • I went with some friends on Monday night. We arrived around 7:30pm, two hour wait for our seats. I played 10/20, and man was there some crazy players. This one older dude was three-betting hands like 75 and Q3 (sooooted, of course) and was hitting everything. I was happy to survive the jungle and made a 27BB profit. :) I got a glimpse of one hand at the 1/2NL game:

UTG raises to $27, MP flat-calls, heads up. Flop QJT rainbow. I think UTG went all-in, MP called. UTG=TT, MP=K9soooted. Board doesn't pair up. I think it was roughly a $600 pot.

Overall, I think the poker room is nice. However, they need more tables so these waits aren't so long. But I guess they'll profit more when people decide to lose their money on the sucker games while they wait for long periods of time.

...not bad for a days work!

    nice job.
  • Have you guys heard about some of the people in the celebrity tournament on Saturday? I've been told Moneymaker and drew bledsoe are a couple of the bunch!
  • I heard an interview on the radio Monday with the general manager of Fallsview Steve Wilson. The radio host asked him to describe how hold'em was played and Steve responded with, "one card is turned up, then another, and then three. The players are then playing against the dealer." It is a relief to hear they do in fact have a real poker room.

I will wait for them to iron out the kinks before I make a trip down.

Steve Wilson did not mention those names but I get the feeling he doesn't know shit.

Canada Hold'em? Or maybe Bizarro Texas Hold'em?
  • one card is turned up, then another, and then three.

    I like it.

I can hear the chasers now: "Well, I've got no pair on the turn, but I've still got a quads draw. I call."

    :)

  • Went with Society today (about 1pm-4:30pm) - he played and I soaked up the atmosphere. It looks OK. You can call the number (905) 371-7777 for them to hold you a spot in line, as twosnaces stated. The floorperson told me up to 90 minutes.

They had 3-6, 4-8, 6-12, 10-20 and 20-40 limit and a 5-5 NL with $300 max buy in. It looks like they were trying to get a 50-100 limit going too.

When I went, two tables were empty with dealers waiting and they had a good 15 people waiting for a 3-6 or 4-8. It took them a good 30 minutes to open one of the tables for a 3-6 after numerous people requested it numerous times. It seems they were waiting for enough people to sign up for a higher limit (a.k.a higher rake) before running those tables. Although I can't blame them...

From the rail, I was satisfied with the room. I'll be playing tonight and tomorrow. I'll let Society give his opinion on the view from a chair.
  • I think the overall play at the 3/6 table I sat at was decent. It was pretty tight to say the least. A few I guess regulars made comments about how good the table was. I was actually impressed with how knowledgable the dealers were. The 3 dealers at my table all played hold'em at Seneca and had a very good grasp of the game. I ended up a few BB down but nothing major. The place needs more tables and there is some growing pains but that will improve with time. I am going again this evening around 10pm. The word is that regular 3/6 and 4/8 games there are very loose. Somewhat similar to party .50/1 limit. Only time will tell how good this place will be, so far so good imho.

I was there earlier tonight checking it out, asked around a bit and whoever told me Moneymaker is full of shit. Although the guy I was speaking to wasnt very helpful nor interested in talking, he mumbled something about a Toronto argo, a few bills players, and some other randoms. I asked and he said no professionals, but then again this guy may have been as worthless my first source.
  • Can someone please post here if they start running bigger NL games? Say, 5-10 or 10-20? Hopefully the buyin for these will be at least 500/1000..

also, has anyone played any of the higher limit games? 30-60? good/bad/ugly?
