How about a cup of Timmy's coffee for anyone that doesn't finish in the money?(tournament)

You will probably be in the line up longer than you were in the tourny.

    *Warning, off topic post commencing*

Is it just me or is everyone else sick and tired of Tim Horton's constantly having huge line ups, extremely slow and terrible service, and the odd time they actually get your order right it tastes like shit? I used to be a huge Timmy's fan, but the last few months have really soured my opinion of their "monopoly" on the coffee houses.

    But what's my alternative?

Damn...I was just checking replys to my posts, and now I want a coffee!!!! MMM....double double...

To answer your question....umm....brew your own??

  • I really don't think that a mainstream company like Tim Horton's would want to be associated with online gambling, but you never know until you ask right?

Beer companies would probably be more open to sponsoring poker events. And what's more Canadian than beer! Besides hockey.

Thanks for all of your honest opinions and creative ideas so far guys. Please keep them coming.

Any update on when this site is going live?  What is it going to be called?

Several established poker sites, by a Canadian type skin,  and one newcomer are in the running to take my dream of the ultimate Canadian online poker room to the next level.

I gave  PokerInCanada.com  all of my ideas and they didn't seem very interested in working with us so the newcomer is now at the top of the list.

Please keep your input coming  and PM me if you are interested in investing.
  • Ah. You made it seem as though this was already a work in progress by an established site. Too bad.
  • I agree with Spicol..."Too Bad". For the last couple years there have been threads in a number of the canadian poker forums that have dealt with the subject of a truly Canadian online poker room. The problem is that in every case so far the idea of a site for Canadian players has failed to materialize. Dave, I am not saying that you won't be successful in launching your site and reaching your audience but the odds seem to favor the belief that it won't happen. Hell, a group of my friends even claim to be launching a new site with the same theme you are proposing, whether or not it actually happens is yet to see. I do hope to see a Canadian room in the near future, I think it would be great to play for CPT Satellites, playoff tickets etc. Finally, my faith in your proposed site has been further diminished by your reference to interested investors. Most people that go fishing for funds on forums are not dealing on the level. Hopefully that is not the case here but how do we know?
  • Please post your mailing address as soon as possible so all of our core group of Forum members can start mailing you out cheques immeadiatley for this great investment.  What a scam!!! :rage

Don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm suspicious.....  I really doubt that with current gaming laws anyone could get away with a truly "Canadian" online site, ie hosted in Canada. Would have to be hosted elswhere, registered elswhere, etc. Therefore why would it be different than any other site? Maybe I'm not "getting" it but someone please enlighten me if I am wrong.

Kinda had the feeling that there was more to this.......... Now we're looking for investors are we? Looks like my suspicions were well founded....
  • I am not looking for investors and I have not made one penny from my research to create a truly Canadian online poker room.

To be completely honest I was bluffing ............ not you guys,  but the online poke rooms and was hoping that at least a site named "PokerInCanada.com"  would pick up on all of the great ideas that you guys have produced in this thread and hire me as a consultant to put all of this together.

I never expected to make a million dollars. Just to be paid a fair wage for my work and I was ready to quit my job as a full time poker affiliate and webmaster to travel all over Canada promoting the game of poker as a PokerInCanada.com ambassador.

I have been in contact with PokerInCanada's marketing department for a few weeks now and was trying my best to sell them on our ideas  but unfortunately they don't seem very interested at this time.
I do hope to see a Canadian room in the near future,

So do I Baller23 ........  but it doesn't look like I will be the one to make it happen unless PokerInCanada changes their mind.

Thank you everyone for your time and understanding.

I didn't mean to deceive any of you.  I was just trying to create a truly Canadian online poker room.

Several poker rooms besides PokerInCanada are monitoring this post so tell them what you want as their paying customers and maybe they'll listen.
  • Out of curiosity, does anybody have any idea what it would actually take to set up a site like suggested in this thread? What about a skin on one of the major networks that offered legitmate Canadian promos, is that possible? What are the roadblocks and hurdles that have to be overcome to do this? If it could be done do you think there would be enough people that would play through a skin like that to make it profitable at all? Personally I think it could be done but doubt the viability from a profit standpoint.
  • Hi Baller23.....  and the rest of the PokerForum.ca gang.

I am very happy to announce that in the next few days I will have a sponsored forum here at PokerForum.ca representing a major online poker network who has allowed me to offer the "legitimate Canadian promos" that have been discussed in this thread!

I am so excited about this project that I have barely slept or ate in the last few days.

My dream of creating a truly Canadian online poker room is moving forward so quickly that I can't keep up with the work load..... and I'm loving every minute of it!

A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread, both positive and negative, and we'll continue discussing the building of "Our Ultimate Canadian Online Card Room" as soon as the sponsored forum is set up.

I look forward to your comments and ideas on turning this project into reality!
  • In the mean time.......  while the techies get the forum up and running.

How about cheap buy-in online satellite tournaments to the WPT North American Poker Championship  event on Oct.25 - 29 in Niagara Falls? This is at the top of my promo  list for now.

CanadianPokerTour satellites?  In what city's and for what events would you like to see?

Any creative Canadian style prizes will be seriously considered so please feel free to express your opinions!

Then why did you ask for them?

Quite honestly I don't trust your motives. You have already misled this forum with your original intentions.

You also mention the WPT in Niagara as a "top priority". Why? There isn't even a site yet and the tournament isn't that far away. It doesn't really ring of any truth or logic.

I am going to stay far away from this site. It smells of Dutch Boyd.
  • Then why did you ask for them?

If you read the whole thread you will find the answer Flint Bones.

I felt that I needed to bluff at the online poker rooms .....  to get us Canadian online players some great Canadian style promos.

I am very sincere in my intentions.

The site that I'm representing is very well established. You see their adds on television all the time, and the WPT "North American Poker Championship"  in Niagara Falls is over two months away starting on Oct.25  which is  plenty of time to set up some online satellites tournaments if you guys show some enthusiasm for playing and  winning a $13,500 CAD prize package.

I have already seen the rooms view of the water falls (on the Niagara Fallsview website)  that some lucky player..... or players will be seeing from their luxuriously  comped suite when they win a complete WorldPokerTour prize package from us. It's a sweet room.

I am personally pushing for the airfare and accommodations to be for two people ......  so you guys can take your significant other with you on your  poker trip of a lifetime.

Please check your facts before you slam me..... or compare me to Dutch  Boyd in pubic.
  • Why did you edit out your post where you were soliciting for "investors"? As I first pointed out, I am suspicious, now even more so. If you are really getting your own section on here, prove it and have one of the mods say it here.... lol...
  • Yes would one of the moderators here please confirm that I am getting a sponsored forum section here at Pokerforum.ca.

And then please delete this entire thread.

I started this thread here, and on other forums,  as pure research into building a Canadian online poker room.

Now that I will be a paying sponsor here, there is an obvious conflict of interest in continuing this thread. Some people are obviously mistaking my enthusiasm for this project as spam and rest assured that this will not happen again in the future.

Thanks everyone for expressing your opinions. Your ideas will not be forgotten.
  • Please keep your input coming and PM me if you are interested in investing.

I think my facts are pretty clear.

It's fishy. You still never mention the site or if you are really associated with them. I think there is a hook coming to this or a method in which you are really going to profit. My opinions are based on what you have written (or not written, or edited for that matter).

I worked with fraud cases and other forms of scams for a long time. Perhaps I am jaded but there are several things about this thread which scream "RUN!" to me. Time will tell.
  • NEXT TOPIC- because this one is STUPID.
  • I'm working with the RiverRock on a future WPT event and getting them more involved with the CanadianPokerTour in the near future.

Do you have something to do with the CPT?

Things are changing, slowly. There are satellites into the WPT event at Fallsview. I assume, however, that Fallsview has nothing to do with these satellites. The Ontarion minister of gaming is REALLY opposed to online poker.

The Canadian casinos industry is much more heavily regulated than the U.S. Consequently, one has a lot more trouble here getting internet poker represented in Canadian casinos.

    Good luck.
  • Hi Dave,

I don't officially  have anything to do with the CPT,  but I do have a close relative who is a floor manager at the RiverRock and you are right. Getting them involved,  in any way with online poker is an uphill battle.

I'm working on in it though, and good luck to you sir in your poker related endeavours.
  • I notice that the Nov River Rock event is not listed as a CPT event although that may change, I don't know.

My partners in the CPT no longer speak to me.
