Home Games Page Hi Jacked

It seems that the home games section gets high jacked by club games. Home games get pushed aside and down the rank. Some of the club games are just contiueally bumped with only "bump" posted to get it back to the top. If we had a second section for club games then the home games section would be it what it is suppose to be.

  • There has been talk of this before but there has never been a consensus on either way. The trouble that you get into in when a home game becomes a club game. Who makes that definition?
  • rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrake?
  • The various club owners do it to remind everyone of their event for that day. It's not like any of them bump numerous times, it's usually only once per week.

Otherwise if we are looking for anything other than KW we would have to scroll to page 17.

Well, in that case why don't we call the "Club Games" section "Bust Me, Coppers!"

  • I'm pretty sure that cops can read and figure out which one is a club game and which one is a home game. hell today the page is full of "home games" that have no replys except bump and reminder. Club games page and then one for home games just makes to much sense.

  • nice touch GTA.

I agree here fellas. I mean i used to visit the home games section all the time, but now i dont bother much because of all the club games. these are games held in rented establishments. the river room, the airport club, kellys place, all of those just clutter the home games section.

home games section should be reserved for the dude thats hosting a game in his basement for i nice night of poker with the buddies liek bristol does.

    just my thoughts

  • Can I renew the call here for a split between club games and home games. Lately it has just been getting ridiculous. Currently I count 14 raked club postings out of 18 posts. Many of these are nothing more than weekly bumps to keep their event up on the first page.

For me personally, it is starting to take on spam like proportions.

    + infinity

I didn't mind the decision previously, but now it has gotten ridiculously out of hand.
  • Here Here.
  • Bump...... and echo comments above.. Agreed.
  • UPDATE

    Isn't that the new bump?
  • By my count right now the top 9 posts on the "HOME GAMES" board are club games. What's the deal? Is anything going to be done about this?

Hopefully. My suggestion is to simply to press the "report to moderator" button any time you see a bump, and enter:

    7. No needless thread “bumping” (replying to your own post to bring others attention to it)

(from the forum rules page at http://pokerforum.ca/forum/index.php?topic=8617.msg75684#msg75684) in the box that pops up. If enough people do this, the moderator's will take action, either by warning/banning these bumps, or by modifying the rules to make them acceptable. Even if it's changing the rules (which would be annoying, since I hate these bumps) at least it would be clear to everyone what is allowed. But the current policy of ignoring a clear violation of the rules isn't acceptable (at least to me).

While an inconvenience, I'm going to start doing this and keep doing it until SOME action is taken. I realize and appreciate all the hard work our moderators (past and present) do, but this really needs to be dealt with. If it's a manpower issue with the mods, I'm sure there are enough annoyed people on here that they could find somebody else to help with the "ban hammer".
  • This didn't bother me so much at first, mostly because I play occasionally at one of the clubs, but now that almost every thread in the home games section is a club, it's not even very fun to check it anymore. I know all I'm going to see is more club advertisements. It's becoming obvious that they should be split into club games and actual home games sections. And, like was suggested before, the way to differentiate is by the rake. You have one, you're a club, you don't, you're a home game.

  • I PM'd sloth about it. I just checked his profile. His Last Active date was May 31st!!! Anybody know where he is?

  • I really don't mind the clubs posting really, but it's the true HOME game notices that suffer because of it. Someone wants to post a simple friendly home game, and within minutes it's bump all the way to page 2 or 3 with all the bumping.

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen much from ANY of the mods lately. Some might be off to Vegas this month, but they have been pretty quiet lately.

Could he be working on plans for the Bounty Series?

  • Just wanted to give you guys a headsup about the situation so you know this is not going unnoticed. I have read through all the complaints here and all the complaints and concerns are legit. I will be discussing with AA regarding what options we have and what direction we would like to go in regards to this situation. Unfortunately it seems sloth is still exteremly busy with moving and his family and all, so please be patient with us.
  • thanks for the updaye wess

    Johnny
  • Thanks Wes!
  • I know you guys are still "discussing options", but since the entire known universe is bumping their club listings this afternoon, I thought I'd bump this lowly topic for the rest of the membership. Not that it matters, it will be on page 3 in 20 minutes anyway  :rage:
  • I think we could have "Friendly games" and then "Home games"
  • :ah :ac :ad :as

We at the "Home Games Page Hi Jacked" Thread want to thank everyone for their support and to those that have yet to read this thread we welcome you as well!

  • Why not have a "Home Games" section and a "Non-Home Games section?

  • time for a bump

I vote for Home Games and Club Games sections.

Just curious, but how patient?  It's been over 2 weeks since the last "official" reply, and over 2 months since this thread started. Due to the lack of enforcement, the problem continues to get worse.

Beanie...can't imagine what you are complaining about...I mean seriously, only 14 Club announcements on the "Home Page" first page...
I strongly suggest that all Home Games now be posted in the "Advertising" Section, as lord knows no one ever posts there.
