6pm : $50 pokerforum.ca Celebrity Challenge (details below)
On July 24th, the Bristol Street Nightclub and Casino (aka, "My house") will be host to the inaugural "pokerforum.ca Celebrity Challenge"! Come on out for a fun day of poker, meet celebrities from the pokerforum.ca website and compete for a share of the prize pool in the Main Event!
(Please note: I'm not really a casino. I take no rake, there is no charity jar, I won't be collecting to buy "food and drinks" This is a fun (and legal!) homegame, set up by me, in my spare time, because I love the game.)
To RSVP your spot, send me a private message indicating whether you're participating in the a) Main Event only, b) both the Satellite and the Main Event (assuming you lose the Satellite) or c) just the Satellite (and, of course, the Main Event if you win a spot).
Space is limited to 21 players so this will be done on a first come, first serve basis. Priority will be given to pokerforum.ca Members. (So, if you have someone that would like to play, have them sign up and say hi!)
Rules for food are BYOB and meat, as we'll pause the action at 5pm and fire up the BBQ. Side games are welcome anytime during the day, or if you bust out early. Feel free to also bring and share snacks!
All rulings by the Tournament Director (hey, that's me!) will be final with the most important one being, "HAVE FUN!"
The Bristol Street Nightclub and Casino has a furocious feline mascot (which will be locked away), but bring alergy pills if you need it.
Directions: (from the 401) Take exit 278 (Hwy 8) and following all signs and offramps to Hwy85 North Waterloo. Exit at Bridgeport St. and follow the offramp, turning right onto Bridgeport. Head to Weber, and turn left, following from there using mapquest (174 Bristol St. N2J 1H1)

I am very disappointed I will miss this one, a bunch of us from the area are in fact in Las Vegas until the end of that weekend.
Sounds like a great time too, the next weekend is good but can't make it that time.
Have fun
I am sure djw, dvst8r and myself would be ALL IN!
If so perhaps I could catch a lift with someone.
i'm interested in carpooling from toronto with others. i can drive but i would really rather not.
I am very confused...I don't even know who this teach guy is....
A) If he has played cards with me and is hiding his identity then he should know that now is a bad time to be calling me out since I am "getting lucky" lately..
If he hasn't played cards with me then he probably doesn't know anything about me...Why call me out then?...And why not take me up on my offer for a little wager regarding his bold statement?
"Teach" must be one of my buddies that I play cards with on regular basis....A lot of my buddies talk a lot of shit unfortunately but are unwilling to back up their mouths with their wallets. :frown: It's quite embarrassing actually...
So teach, who are you and why do you choose to single out gekko and myself? (I do not know gekko as well)
Bill
teach
"I prefer a freezeout with a larger buy-in. I will win this thing - taking out esool and gekko first and second."
How many slots do you have available? Is there still room?
skellsy
Also, please make sure you let me know if you want to take part in both or just one of the events.
Thanks all! It should be a fun time!!
If no one has a car or is willing to drive, I can rent one and split the cost but I would prefer not to if possible. It would require at least 3 or 4 people to make renting worth while.
So show of hand who is driving in from the GTA.
Well maybe next time
I would love to get in both events. I would definitely think that all_aces would be down as well. Please reserve 2 spots for us. I have sent a PM.
Looking forward to meeting all you guys (well, at least the ones I have not met yet...)
Alistair
Regards,
all_aces
One other thing... if there's a max of 21 for the main tournament, don't we need to somehow take into account the fact that someone might win an entry via satellite who did not sign up for the main tournament?

I'm going to over capacity a bit because I'm imagining people will drop out on or before the day, and if pressed, I could probably work it out so that 28 people could take part. (assuming a couple local people bring a couple folding chairs) I'm going to work this week on getting a feed from the poker clock on my computer to another TV, then running that feed to a second room.
Mrs. Holdem... certainly an intimidating poker name.

They acually have 24 hour breakfast (on weekends), so it's also a post-game outing possiblity. Or I might try to score some Morty's wings... [Homer drooling noise]
A great place for meat (I'll probably be going there myself if I have time) is the St. Jacob's Farmers Market, open Satrudays beginning at 7:00am. St. Jacob's is just a few minutes north of Waterloo. The Farmers Market has excellent quality fresh meats, and besides the quality & freshness, the meat prices are normally better than grocery stores'.
