I wanted to start a thread that has a list of people that are going to WSOP.....so here it is. Hopefully I can add my name to it in the next couple of months.

  • i hope so too, i wonder how many pokerstars points i can earn during the summer, buying into the smaller WSOp events with points would be awesome. and hopefully i can win a sat to the main event!
  • I hope to play in Event #1 this year...and win enough to pay for my wife to play the Ladies Only Event.
  • I'm still hoping to win a satelite seat to get in that would rock.
  • Unless something goes terribly wrong... I'll be playing in event #2.

Me too. BTW event 1 is for the workers no?
  • Yes, event 1 are for those players who are employed by casinos.
  • Rob, you're in Event #2?  Nice.

I started a new job today.  I'm going to wait a couple of weeks before I ask them for a week off in June... settle in a bit first, then ask for massive amounts of time off.

Hopefully I will play in Events 2, 3 and 4 again this year, and hopefully the rest of Team Canuck Poker will be playing in those events as well.

Each of those events, this year are 3 day events. I am playing 2 for sure, 3 if I get knocked out early, 4 if I want more abuse!
  • My employment situation will also dictate whether I can play.

I have Event #4 marked on my calendar as well.
  • A link to the tournaments.

Devin, can you give me some advise, looking for info on little things as food in the tournament area, drinks etc.... things you found odd.

    Thanks,
  • Hoping to play in women's event if I'm in between work projects. Do hotel rates skyrocket during the WSOP?

Never thought of that.....but I imagine they do. Book them now, that way you have to win a seat.
  • Gold coast is very near the Rio. Hotels.com has their rate at under 60 canadian at the moment for events 2 thru 4.
  • Gold Coast is a perfect place to stay. It and The Palms, are the only major hotels within walking distance of the Rio.
As for the rates, it's actually a good time of the year to go, cost-wise.
I will be in Vegas for an extended stay, likely a few weeks at the end of the WSOP.
    See yous there.
  • Raises hand,
  • I'm planning on going however Event #2 is the same day as my daughters graduation..... decisions decisions..... Now trying to figure out which other event is worth playing for my lack of skill level :D :fish:

Devin anything that comes to mind that you want to say about the WSOP (out side of the no swearing, smelling rules) please add.
  • I will probably qualify for at least five of the championship tournaments with the free bar poker tours. I have already qualified for a tournament for a U$1,000 WSOP seat and paid trip to Las Vegas. I will be playing in three qualification tournaments this month for the U$10,000+ championship tournament in June.
  • The main event this year is actually in July. Heres the complete list of all the events:

  • Where should I go to play if I hope to win a seat to the WSOP, at a low cost of course?

Are my best options satellites or is there a better way?
  • Your best bet is probably online satellites.

This is an article on the most recent CardPlayer magazine that pretty much outlines all the online sites and the satellites they'll be having
  • Event#1 baby!
  • I plan on playing 1 or 2 $1500-$2000 Events. Hopefully I can qualify for the main event as well.
  • I'm tring to win my way in for free on Partypoker. I enter in the free satallites with 3500 people run about 10 times a day,, top 50 spots make it to a Qualifier on Saturdays. 20th-11th get entry into the $2000 NLHoldem, 10th-2nd get entry into the Main event for $10,000 and 1st gets $50,000 for the HORSE event. I made it to about 600th/3500 last saturday, after finishing 5th in one of the qualifiers. I think I'll do better this week, now that I have a feel for how the tourny's work, and how people are playing typically. It's been a fun couple weeks trying, I'm playing really well, and with 3500-5000 people playing, I can practice with bigger feilds.
  • I'm trying for my seat at the Stars 650 sat tomorrow...1 in 18 gets a seat...I like those odds :D
  • Played a live tourney last weekend. 33 players, $125 buy in. I won and made $1300. There's my buy in for the ladies event. Woo hoo!! Now I just need to win enough for travel and living.
  • LOL whiterabbit I might have a bed I'm willing to share..... :)\

now on a serious note. nice going
