that multiway hand I had TT, and from what the guys are saying, the best hand vs 99 and 99. With 2 left to act behind me tho, both of whom flat called the p/f raise, and a J-high flop, i had to fold. Ugh. Told you docbox would be a problem.
Thanks to all who read this post in time to show up and cheer me on! I haven't really been playing much at all since the Vegas trip, so this nice little score is a good way to say hello to the game again.
My opponent was good... we were just going back and forth and back and forth for a while, and I figured it would come down to one hand, which it did. It went something like this:
I know I raised preflop with ATo and he called. Flop 889 I think check check. Turn 10. He checked I think, I bet the pot (about 20K) and then we got all our money in. He had K8. River: the overkill K.
Respect to my opponent (docbox) for playing a great game.Â
And the rail chat was priceless. Scotty was in the middle of tearing some guy a new ******* as I busted. ROFLMAO! Thanks again for cheering me on!
Which, I find, is usually the best way to insult someone.
After he typed "all in" into the chat box for the 38th time, I felt it was time to open up a can of ScottyZ on his ass.
SomeDonkey: i see a all in soon
...
ScottyZ: I see a useless line in the chat box coming soon
Oh yeah, as for the "controversial" call to bust the 3rd place guy, A_A was almost exactly a 2-1 dog getting a bit better than 2-1 money odds. A close EV decision, but an EV-correct call. Folding would have left you in BAD shape in terms of stack size. You made the right play here I think.

The prospect of trying to rebuild from 35K didn't appeal to me, and that's what ultimately swung me over to a call. Hey, everyone's gotta get lucky sometimes!!!
And here is the last hand. I suppose I could have folded to the turn raise, but I had to give docbox credit for trying an all-in bluff in this spot. It LOOKED like a good spot to bluff, so that's what I thought he was doing. Sadly, he had the goods.

Nice welcome wagon!
Do you think that you played the same way as you would have if you didn't have a little break? Also we should do a forum check to see what the most popular line is.....I'm going to guess that it goes something like "Great Job Again ALL Aces".
Thanks wader. I don't have much time, but a quick response to your question: I think I probably played about the same as if I hadn't taken a break. My thinking on this stuff is that I have to be in the right mindset to win at poker. If I'm not in that mindset, I don't play. So, if something's bothering me, I don't even bother trying to win at poker, because I personally feel I wouldn't be playing my best. I've been feeling pretty good lately... it's too bad I don't have more time to play!
Did that make any sense?Â
LOL @ "most popular forum line". I can think of at least a few others that would eclipse that line, some involving the words "books" and "taxes" and "rigged", etc.
