  • The Canada vs USA rivalry has always struck me as having a similar nature to the (supposed) East vs West rivalry within Canada.

When I lived in Western Canada, I got the impression that everyone in the West thought they were so much better than Ontario.

Living in Ontario, I got the impression that nobody even gives a thought to getting involved in any kind of rivalry with the West.

The Canada/US rivalry has pretty much the same flavour I think. Canadians tend to think Canada is so much better than the US and they want to cultivate this massive rivalry with the US. For the most part, the US couldn't care less about partaking in a rivalry with Canada.

I love the fact that we're calling it 'the merge'. We are the Canadian tribe, and we've been battling it out with the American tribe in reward and immunity challenges.

Now, the two tribes merge into one. Alliances form, maybe some romances, and there's plenty of backstabbing.

As forum members are voted off, one can't help but wonder: who will be the Survivor?

Actually, 'outwit, outplay, outlast' (or whatever the Survivor motto is) is a pretty good tournament slogan, and strategy.

WHY DID U HAVE TO BET SO MUCH? LOL
  • OK... I'll let the cat out of the bag. Sloth, I gave you plenty of time to announce this yourself, but you didn't, so there!!! lol j/k

I don't feel too bad about saying this because anyone who was at the last pokerforum tournament (in the very very late stages) would have heard Sloth say in the chat that there will be NO changes to this site in the forseeable future.

Apparently--and maybe Sloth will have more to say about this--the people he was planning to 'merge' with wanted to start the new site from scratch, which would mean erasing all of the posts that have been written so far. That would truly be a shame, and apparently Sloth thought so too. So, he axed the deal.

    WTG!!! Right on.

  • yup. All_aces summed it up totally. The site was to be given a new name and a new look but not at the cost of starting all over. 8)
  • Nice job on the new home page! I think posting to Leaderboard SirBry has worked up on it would be a nice addition, well at least the top 5 or so!

Of course you may not be taking suggestions :P
  • Sure I am :)

I really want to get the 'member bio' section going so be sure to check that area out as well.
  • Wahoooooooo :D

we dont have to merge after all :D

    YAY and more YAY
  • I totally forgot about the merge not happening. I believe this is a good thing, especially since we would have had to restart the entire sight. :?

ditto...i dont want to have had to sign up again

    i would've needed a new name

    CrazyONE
  • Its great that you updated the home page of the site but I think the info on it is getting a little stale. For example the next tournament is not on the 15th... You may want to reconsider your content so you are not pinned on keeping it up-to-date or make it dynamic (random post section) so you don't have to.
  • It would be cool if Canadian members could have a little maple leaf icon next to their name.

The Canada vs USA tournies also sound like a fun idea. I'm sure the final table will full of Canadians, eh?
  • Hey Chris,

I don't think there'll be the whole 'Canadian and U.S.' players thing happening, because there are no changes coming... here is a post I made on page 3 of this thread:

    Scratch that.

  • lol well I gotta leave you guys guessing.
  • I hate to complain (no, really) but I find this "new" pokerforum REALLY painful to use. I gotta say, I was a fan of the old interface. Simple and quick.

It's all a matter of personal preference I guess... what do other people think?

    Keith
  • could you be specific?
  • I, for one, preferred the term 'poker god' to 'senior member' lol....

On a more serious note (I'll be here all week) I miss the ability to just quote *parts* of people's posts in a reply. You can section it up that way... ie: for hand analysis stuff. If I'm missing something, let me know...

Not really... I mean, it's hard to be specific. I don't know enough about UI design (actually I know nothing about it) to sit here and pick out specific points... all I can say is that it doesn't "feel" right.

I think it's mostly personal preference. I'm curious to hear what other people think.

Well, it's going to change to "custom titles" so you can name yourself poker god...OR a ranking system as we talked about before where X number of posts will change your "title"

    Me too...

I think you can still do that...

  • Hmmmm.... how? I don't see the big ole quote button....
