Put me down for a solid "maybe".

If I can attend, I would for sure carpool from KW-Cambridge.

  • Out.

    Good luck all!
  • Is it just me or does it seem like less and less people are playing mixed cash games lately. I’m finding it incredibly difficult
  • I think less and less ppl are playing poker in general

Yeah, not a ton of players for the mixed games. NLHE all night is just so boring. Also sucks that casinos can barely even get a PLO game going regularly.

It doesn’t help as well that a couple of the regulars who would’ve come had plans on Saturday night. There also seems to be a reluctance for some people to drive very far for a game. It’s really too bad. Trigs runs a great game, good place to play. Hopefully we’ll get enough the next time. Or I’m guilty people into coming. ;)

  • Trigs is a very generous host despite him not allowing me to win a hand in his house. I don't believe poker is dying off. Mixed games are a little intimidating when you first start. Preflop equities run much closer than holdem, therefore you need to ride out variance and in my opinion improve post flop play. It's on the mixed game players to invite new players, make them feel comfortable and discuss strategies. Only then will new players understand that Mixed Games Rock! Anybody on the fence, sit next to experienced player willing to discuss strategy and learn how much fun 4+ cards can be.

PS Trigs meet some players from Hamilton.

  • Alot of NL players I know don’t like the amount of uncertainty in mixed games. They just want to play their pseudo-GTO holdem and grind out their +/-1.5bb/hr and not have to think too much.

Trust me, I am trying. I literally don't know anyone through work or friends that even plays poker at all, let alone mixed games. Got some students who'd probably play, but might get fired for that lol.

At least there's been a couple new games in Hamilton popping up on the forum as well, but they'll only play NLHE :s

Yeah, I think it's the variance that scares most new players away. But the variance is what makes it so fun!!

  • No variance in Paris. Saturdays game played pretty straight up. 😁

I’m one of the tightest players out there in hold em, but I love the mixed games. As Woog said, people need to come out and learn the games. I literally learnt sitting at Moose’s poker table with Roger and moose teaching me.
