With what bank? I opened a TD Cross border banking account thinking they would be huge in the States.. of course I later find out they have no branches or ATMs in Nevada.
He is saying he has a Canadian bank in USD. He carries his cash across.
I have a BMO USD account and a Tangerine USD account. I do the same thing as Mike.

Moose is 100% correct. I just bring what i am willing to loose. I have no interest in having to go to a bank multiple times during a trip if you are running really bad and need to re-load.
Set the anount you are willing to loose and do daily envelopes if you really want to ensure it lasts.

I was thinking more of the mindset it would pay for my smaller purchases at CVS or out for food without having to pay the banks silly exchange fees.. my friend did that recent trip and I think he was charged at a rate of.. 1.42? ugh
and of course the pipe dream of winning a major score I could deposit some and not have to worry about claiming it at customs or whatever.

Claiming at customs is NOT the issue. You can't avoid the tax implications by having a US account either here in Canada or the US. The tax implications are the same. It's your country of residence that determines that. If you win more than $5K net at a tourney in the US you will have 30% withheld.. This doesn't include money won at a cash game however. Seneca is not included.
I used to pay cash for everything in the States. Then I got a BMO USD mastercard which has no annual fees as long as you charge $1000 per year
OR
Looks for a CDN$ credit card that has no markup. I also have a Scotia Passport Infinite card because of the no markup and 6 airport lounge passes per year.
But for gambling I still carry cash. As Mike says, it puts a limit on your spending.
Oh I know I can't avoid the taxes just paranoid about carrying all that cash.
Has anyone taken over 10k across? is it as simple as just declaring it on the form? Do they ask many questions? I'm just picturing that scene in the movie 21 where they try and smuggle the 200k or whatever on the plane lol.
Granted I guess if I ever won a huge score I would just ask for a cheque and fly back right away

Yes. Fill out the forms. Sometimes they ask for a bank receipt showing the cash coming out of the bank sometimes they don’t.
Always declare, you don’t want the hassle of getting a very difficult secondary inspection every time you cross the border.
They are generally very nice until you try and lie to them.
This is year I spent way over the limit on a heterosexual men’s purse and a bottle of cologne. I declared it showed the receipts at the border and the guy said thanks for being honest and let me go. I was close to double the amount allowed.
I'm sorry for the above post in a great thread, I just have difficulty when my integrity is challenged. Integrity is huge to me and being challenged in a public forum by an off the cuff comment can not be taken lightly.

Any score depending on the casino is taxed right there on the spot. You win 100,000 they only give you 70%. There is no getting around that part.
And the the credit card that moose uses is a great idea and saves that extra juice that you pay in exchange.
Lots of good old advice here.

Also I would have to throw in dancing on a craps table with my pants around my ankles.
If I make it out of Vegas with all my teeth intact, I'm good.
To each his own I guess.

Why didn't you score 2 weeks ago.
My my guess is he started with about a dozen tasty small batch pints of beer........ from there it was all down hill.
Because the guy I swapped 10% with fucked off and got drunk instead of railing me and discussing strategy on breaks...
oOOO, harsh....
If you have a fucking problem let's discuss! Rather than posting on here like a dick move.
I seriously don't
Sensitive ouch
