Tournament at Niagara Casino

• Biggest turn out so far today with 194 entrants.

Blind levels dj posted are still accurate, at least up until 2000/4000/500 when I busted.

Dinner break has has been changed from 60 to 30 min. Felt a little rushed, would have appreciated another 10 or 15 min.

Tilted players are complaining about such a good value tournament being to long. I have also heard players making such complaints. Why anyone would ask for a worse structure is beyond me.

Last time I was there my friends card wouldnt work for parking either. Asked about it today and apparently you have to go to the rewards desk and have them swipe your card for parking validation if you dont have enough cash play to qualify.
• Mistake post sorry
• I am heading to Casino Niagara tomorrow, does anyone know what time late reg is open for in the tournament. Not sure what time I will arrive.

Anyone else heading down?

you can buy in or re-buy till the beginning of level 5 . Good luck. Don’t try and bluff .....nobody know how to fold bottom pair there.
• What was the total entries this past Tuesday? Did it surpass the 242 from the week before?

I didn't end up making it. I was tied up with work.
• For the eleventh consecutive week, there was a new record of 244 entries :o on Tuesday, August 21.
The good news is that the Sunday starting stack has been increased to 10,000.
• I am planning on playing in tomorrow's $165 tournament, was curious if the blind structure outlined is accurate as 75 BB's seems pretty light to start with. I tried calling in the other day and thought they said it starts at 25-50 which would make sense at 150 BB starting stack. For those that have played in this tournament, could someone confirm and also add how fast they feel this tournament moves as seems by first few hours it could be push/shove poker with less than 20 BB
• I think it's 50-100 unless they changed it. It's a little bingoey at the start but it settles down mid stage. But it's a reentry and there are quite a few reentries which builds a nice prize pool

Thanks Moose, I generally prefer deep stack style tournaments with 200-300 BB's, feel like 75BB's there's only a few levels were you can make plays at the pot without going broke

Good luck finding any of those in Ontario - Although, the home games posted on this forum are good, deep stack structured tournaments (Holt Poker Tour, Moose, etc...)

Brantford used to have a great deep stack $550 on the last Sunday of each month

Operable word being "used to". I really liked the Brantford tournaments, I doubt they will start them up again.
• The reality is the Tuesday tournament although not very deep is pretty decent. I think you get a good 3-4 hours of play before you go into shove/fold mode.

I hate to say anything positive about casino Niagara but they do run the tourney very well and keep the tables balanced quickly. I find it to be a decent value and with over 220 entries every week it is a nice prize pool.
• It is the best-value $165 tournament I have ever played, as forum alumni & TD 13CARDS uses the slow WPT blind structure and the rake is the same 11.8% as many other $1Ks and $3Ks! For example, today's tournament was from 12:30 to 11:30 pm, so 11 hours is plenty of play for only $165, more than all the low buy-ins in Las Vegas with unbeatable rake (& 30% taxes) and Rama's $300.

A few players actually complained before that it was taking too long, so a few blind levels were taken away just so that these Cinderellas won't have to play past midnight and turn into pumpkins. ;) For example, the "Allen Kessler mandatory level" of 250/500 was taken away (between 200/400 and 300/600), and the 11th level is 4500/9000 (skipping 4K/8K and 5K/10K).

I understand how many players came to hate the Fallsview poker room, but since meeting with a couple of casino shift managers last year, I am pleasantly surprised that some of the suggestions have started to be implemented in the new Casino Niagara room, with more improvements to come, including for WPT Fallsview. :-X 13CARDS and Amy are doing a great job with the two weekly tournaments, working overtime for 12 hours (or more) until the first place winner gets the big novelty cheque and photo taken.

There is finally a dedicated poker manager, who is willing to try things to see if they will get supported. There does not seem to be enough players willing to play the $535 so the buy-in will be lowered. IF these tournaments get more support, then more can be added instead of Great Canadian Gaming and Gateway Gaming continuing to kill poker in Ontario casinos.

• Great post BlondeFish ! I agree, Niagara has done a great job with the new poker room and the new tournaments. I wish I could play on Tuesdays. The WEEKLY buy-in of $535 was a little much for me to commit to. Any idea what the new price will be and when they will start the lower price Sunday tournaments ?
• I would love them to just make the Sunday tournament exactly the same except I would be afraid they would have too many players to seat them all... I agree though they have really stepped up their game at Niagara... good job 13CARDS, just in case you are still lurking.
• Hey 13CARDS, can you update us on here with the tournament changes for the new year, once they finalized?
