It's not easy, but somebuddy has to do it.
TLDR: The Canadian Grand Prix Online Day 1s are basically BINGO-ments compared to the other online and live flights.
It's even worse than what UBetIFold and I thought. The Canadian online flights have strangely different (and faster) blinds than the live flights at Playground. Only the Canadian online flights have 8-minute levels compared to the 12 minutes of GPPT Cardiff, Ireland, and "Online Grand Prix," which has 50% more chips at 30,000.
All the other GPPT live flights at Cardiff, Ireland, Brighton, etc. also have 50% longer levels or 30 minutes compared to the 20 minutes of the Canadian Grand Prix. Below are the Patience Factors, Skills Levels and Blind-Off Times for the various Day 1s.
Canada Online (20K chips, only 8-min levels): PF = only 5.9, SL = only 2, BOT = only 1.5 hr.
Online Grand Prix (30K chips, 12-min levels): PF = 15.1!, SL = 6!, BOT = 2.3 hr. :h:
Cardiff, Ireland & other online GPPT: PF = 12.2, SL = 5, BOT = 2.1 hr.
1) Book an airline flight with DirtArse to play at GPPT Ireland or Cardiff instead.
2) Or play the Online Grand Prix with U$500,000 Gtd and get to play the most hands.
3) Use GPPT tickets you have won at Playground (20 min).
4) I only want to play the first Canadian online flight, then evaluate with the player I have swapped with. Unfortunately for me, I may have date conflicts between CNE Casino and Playground, so I may be forced to play more online flights than I want to.
I will bring up some of these points in the partypoker forum on Facebook, and hope that I don't get Doom-switched permanently!
Definitely not a fan at all of the revised 8 min levels.
It's basically the same structure as there bi-hourly 6-max turbo MTT's with a few exceptions.
-BF mentioned no 50/100 level in the grand prix.
-there's also no 250-500 in the grand prix
-the starting Stack is only 20k compared to 30k in the 6-max turbo's.
Maybe it would be better off to take only 1 shot online and the remainder of the tickets be used live? I can only presume it would be a bit softer live too.
Stumbled across this place. I do plan to attend this series, but will be there from Aug 27th to Sep 3rd, 5th if I advance in the GPPT of cause . I just recently get onto the live scene after playing online only the last year and a half since I started playing. Living in the Ottawa area, so this series can't be happened at a better place and at very affordable buy-ins apart of the bigger events.
Been to Playground a couple of times and very impressed by the whole experience as well as the tournament structure compare to the local casino games that I play.
My thought was mainly to play the All Stars for Starlight and GPPT, plus the smaller events in between. After reading this thread, I am wondering whether I should take a shoot at one or two Quantum Day 1s. I was intrigued by the $1500 for multiple qualified stacks, though I am not really rolled for satellites in the $200s which are the only available flights when I am there. As for GPPT, I was thinking about satty into on Party but looks like it is better to play the live Day 1s. I do have a Golden Chip already.
IF we can get >= 10 players to sign up for a SNG, Playground will probably run it. I will request to be put on the SNG list each day I arrive at Playground for the $600 / $1,650 / $5,400, starting on Thursday.
I have yet to book accommodations for this and noticed, as expected, hotels are no longer reasonably priced. I have also been browsing airbnb which seems better but have never used that service before and dont really know what to expect from it.

Just booked for myself. Got a 1 bdrm apt, approx 20 mins from Playground for under $50/night from 31st to the 5th.
In case anybody intends to stay in Montreal until September 12-14 ($400K & $200K Gtd Day 2+) and is willing to carpool, please PM me.
The 1,000+ km of driving :arghh: to/from Playground has become my least favourite part of playing there, while sometimes taking 2-4 cars to the same accommodation. I have to do it all over again by October 29/30 for WPT Montreal, but I hope to book nearby accommodation early to make car pooling more feasible.
- Carpool to Montreal Airbnb on September 1 by 4 pm to play the Turbo $100 + $9, 8.3% rake.
- Sept 11: $220 + $25 Re-entry Quantum Mega Satellite, 8 pm, 5 Seats Gtd, 10.2% rake.
- Bring a friend for free to La Ronde between Sept. 3-11.
- Stay while I have Day 2+ to play, hopefully up to Sept. 13/14.
Heading out to Montreal to Playground WCofC this Thursday for 10 days of pokering. Airbnb all the way with Loose Goose from Mohawk days riding shotgun. See you there BF, UBetI Fold, TP, Ante River, and others... I'm always up for a beer (or two.. ).
