Jian Ghomeshi canned from CBC

Apparently one of the few things I find entertaining about the CBC is coming to an end. But not without a bang.

Long story short, Jian likes to "InsaneGuy" it up in the bedroom. A former lover who was, at the time of dating, down with his eccentricities has changed her tune and is claiming she was not a willing participant. She had joined with a writer who has a dislike for Jian in compiling evidence that he is a sexual miscreant. This was brought to light to the CBC and they have dropped the hammer.

For a more indepth read, I present a post apparently from Jian's facebook.

A shame for sure and plenty of news to come forth in the near future without a doubt.

On the upside perhaps a Moxy Fruvous reunion will be in the works.

  • It appears to me that, for someone suing the CBC for xxx million dollars, producing that long public diatribe was probably not vetted through his legal team.
  • Can we just get this out of the way now and liken the CBC to the Nazis?
  • Did he really fuck a chicken?

I hope that bastard is perma banned from pfc!
  • Can I get an ms paint of the acts plz...it is what Insaneguy would want

While it is purely speculation on my part, I am eagerly awaiting news that InsaneGuy has "insider" information.

  • Would have thought CBC would have been all touchy feely and supportive . . . colour me shocked.
  • I will contribute...

But first fuck you for beating me to this - I was going to name the thread something way better like "call me daddy" or "The safeword is pumpernickel"

  • Seriously though...

This is bullshit that he's been fired. I too listen with regularity, and enough so that Jian's absence occasionally (and the last few weeks with his father's passing) is enough to elicit a grimace as a 2nd tier person fills in. He's an intelligent, likeable interviewer that clearly loves his show.

Now, he's being fired because he's into BDSM. Legal, consent-based, alternative sex lifestyles. I mean, if he was exploiting children, or harming animals, sure... but this is really just outdated / closed minded assholes pushing their shit on another person. Some people like blondes, some like redheads. Some like missionary only for the sake of procreation, and some like a finger up their ass while barking like a puppy and wearing a gimp mask.

Bottom line is... it has no influence on his interview skills. He - quite rightly - felt that nobody should really need to know about his bedroom shenanigans, and is a victim of blackmail. Read that again, he is being punished, for being a victim of a crime - not unlike some of those celebs in the recent nude scandal who said it was a sex crime.

If there is some sort of movement or petition, I'll sign. I personally plan on writing CBC. If there's an internet-based thing where you put Jian's face on a ball gag, well... I did the ALS thing, why not that.

Why? Harper has appointed every single member of the board. Ten out of twelve of those people contributed to the CPC. What makes you think they are anything but ultra conservative?

I love CBC... but gotta admit, it's definitely left wingy in programming.

  • The bosses certainly are not 'left wingy.'

I'll admit complete ignorance around the upper level people... but it is a little surprising..

    C'mon mods!

No, fuck you! I'm really torn up by this news. I regularly like to role play as the King of Spain and now I must eat humble pie.

Also coincidentally my safeword was Ghomeshi.

Any song that references the habs calling me up makes me insta-hard.

I believe the line is "now the Leafs call me up to drive the Zamboni". Call that a reverse Viagra.
  • Ahem,

Unforgivable hair from JG aside, the official video that played on MM. Though I will admit that alternate lyrics to appease the attending masses may have occurred. time stamp 1:30ish

  • Pics or it didn't happen.
  • I'm not the only one who sang King of Spain all morning...right?

    Bullard stole your line.

And I am equally surprised by the composition of the Board.

That being said, it has been put forward that it may not be the BDSM aspect of this that caused the dismissal so much as the "scandal" of the allegations that it was not, in some cases, consensual.

Brand protection and all that . . . which again points to my surprise as I would have thought the "culture" at CBC would have been more accepting than, say, SunMedia.
  • At first I was of the opinion that it was unfair to fire the guy based on unproven allegations by anonymous accusers. I have since changed my mind. In the end it will come down to what can be proven in court.

  • kwsteve . . . what has changed? I skimmed the link, as well as reading the egregious Heather Mallick on the subject today, but what in this case has really changed?

It still revolves around allegations that these women have made. Allegations which they did not even have the courage to make to the authorities.

An objective observer would ask why these women would prefer having their anonymous accusations aired in the media, as opposed to having their anonymous accusations aired in court?

I am NOT ok with the way you're talking about possible victims of sexual assault.

Please delete immediately and spend some time reflecting on how truly heinous referencing their "courage" is.
    Shame on you, Milo.
  • Sorry, Kristy, but if the argument is about the traumatic experience of going to the Cops and swearing out a complaint vs. just laying it all out to a reporter, I call BULLSHIT.

Your comment presupposes that there is no other possibility than that these women are 100% truthful in their claims. Even if I stipulate that they ARE telling the truth, it still begs the question as to why they did not lodge a complaint AFTER speaking with the Star.

Sorry, but given that these women would be guaranteed anonymity throughout the entire process, unlike Mr. Gomeshi, I am not apologizing for anything here.
  • If these women had gone to the Cops individually . . . hell, if they had gone in Donavan's mini-van after the interviews, I would have a different view.

This smacks more of trying to exact a toll on this man that might not result from a court case, for any number of reasons, not least which might be the veracity of their claims. As such, their motivation is justifiably at issue.

That is just my opinion, and it's worth what you paid for it.
