  • It's about time you started a new thread about this.
  • I think it deserves notice. He's giving away a $1090 ticket in 2 weeks and as of now there are only 4 or 5 qualifiers? I'm one of them so I should just keep my mouth shut but I think long term he'll need a lot more participants to want to keep this going.

    Exposure yes. Third thread no.

Don't get me wrong though. I'm happy for him for getting this going.
  • In case anyone doubts this is legit, Bill has given me the $$$ for the ticket. This freeroll will run for sure on the 28th.

So why isn't anyone coming ?
  • pkrfce9, Milo or other member basically have to organize a Forumers' Night Out to drag out other members into trying your rake-free game.

I see a similar thing online when the only two players that bother registering for the qualifiers to the 10 WPT500 packages are the two that have already won more than one package! :o There is not even a single forumer willing to be the third player to avoid all the cancellations of these guaranteed qualifiers.

We can do that AFTER Greg and I flip a coin for the entry $$$. :D
  • I might actually come on the 28th, could you please pm me your address?

Dare I think, let alone say:

    IS POKER DEAD ?

Which days is there a game for qualification? i can make it on 26th or 27th if there is a game.
  • please post more, it does not smell enough like desperation just yet
  • Poker is by no means dead, but anyone who thinks it isn't dying is mistaken. Of course it will never die completely, but most people are over it. Especially when people actually have to leave their house to socialize and play.

You mean there is a glimmer of hope!!!
  • You mean there is a glimmer of hope!!!

bill, seriously, you have a game going now. did you expect like dozens of people to come out right away? stop complaining about your numbers and be happy that the game is even running so far. if you keep it up and keep your few players happy, more will likely come. if you keep coming on here and complaining about everyone not showing up, then you'll probably turn more people off from coming out.
  • I'd have to agree with Trigs here Bill. You've got some players coming out who know a lot of other players and word will eventually spread around. No negative energy Sir. You've got a good thing starting up.

But when Trigs gets all philosophical and demanding like he did, feel free to fire off a quick "FK U TRIGS". Drops him like a rock and puts him in his place. fk u trigs

    No
  • Sniper . . . in an attempt to be helpful . . . show up on a free night of your choosing next week and sign up for your membership . . . play, win, qualify . . . come out on the 28th and take a shot for the entry fee to the $1090 tourney at Brantford.

I am taking my shot to satellite in (courtesy of Bill's game) on Monday evening.

And on June 28. Milo, you have 2 shots, you lucky guy.

Trigs, my attitude is simple, if you show up, you show up, great. But I know the clock
is ticking and I want Milo and pkrfce9 to at least have a little competition.

For $1090 don't you think they deserve to be on the edge of their seats ?

If no one shows up, like I said, why don't I just flip a coin ?

    Any competitors here ?
  • If I lived in the Missasauga area, I would play. But I don't.
Have you done any other types of advertising for this? or have you just been counting on forumers to come out?

On a side note folks . . . we have all given Bill a bit of stick for some of his antics since joining, but this is an INCREDIBLE opportunity that people are just ignoring. I understand if the travel is further than you might want but, ESPECIALLY with his NEW offer of three freerolls for each Gold Membership, this is basically what everybody is supposedly looking for . . .

It is a LOW RISK game with a hell of a lot of upside.

I am a strictly recreational player, a $50.00 buy-in is about the limit of my bankroll tolerance. But I won a ticket to a $130.00 Brantford satellite quite easily, and was THIS close to winning the $1090.00 seat that Bill had on offer today. For people who regularly play at Brantford's tourneys, I am at a loss to understand why you would not make the effort to give this game a shot. The fact that there was a tidy little RAKE FREE cash game afterwards just makes it more puzzling to me.

There are plenty of people who want to try and satellite into bigger events on this Forum. I have never really been that interested, but I enjoyed the experience. Somebody needs to explain to me what is keeping more people from the western GTA and beyond from coming out.
  • Almost forgot to post the pics.

  • I'm sure he will get double the people for the next one. Congratz Irunit4times on the win, and to Bill for starting a good thing.
  • Those pictures hurt . . . the 20 minutes of play was just nuts. Total chips in play was just over 70k. Alex and I were frequently swapping a 2:1 chip lead with each other because the blinds and antes were such that we were virtually all-in before dealing the cards (3k/6k - 1k). Crazy thing was that whomever was in the lead preflop was assured of losing the hand, and it was ALWAYS the chip leader that took the suck out. Basically, if you were ahead preflop you had as much chance of holding up as a Third World textile plant.
  • Congrats. It was a day of suck outs. Argh.

  • Lets not discuss the cash game . . . next time I will run it 17 times.
  • I would first like to say thank you again to Bill for hosting and giving away $1090 even though you definately didnt have to, your a gentleman, and I look forward to playing here in your next tournaments.

A shout out to bfillmaff for donating a deck of plastics, they were a great addition, and a side note to bill, talk to andrew about a couple more plastic decks, he has a bunch and you definately should be using plastics moving forward if your going to start getting the numbers.

Another shout out to Milo for bringing and letting us toss around his nice pharoahs for the cash game, it was great and also nice to see you again after all these years.

The game itself. Well it was 9 of us to start, so already the value each player received for paying $30 was pretty incredible. The tables are cash style tables with trays, so for a tournament, just hope your not in one of those seats, otherwise the table and felt were nice and cards were flying pretty well on em. The chips, are just regular dice chips but they do the trick. Bill now has a new deck of plastics to use so one step at a time.

The blind structure was 20 minute levels and even with a stack of 8,600 to start, it didnt take long before you started to feel the squeeze of the blinds. The table was basically half forum members, and have referrals or bills own members. I managed to win a couple pots, and definately lost a few pots early, MILO was putting moves on me that had me quite lost for where I was so I waited for better spots. The tournament moved on and we had a few casualties. Something must have happened to the player on my immediate left because he started opening, and 3 betting like he had somewhere to be. Oh great Cannon on my left and I am dwindling in chips. Cannon finally gets knocked out and it wasn't long before we were 4 handed. It already felt like a coin flip at this moment everyone was almost 10 or just over BB and it was a shove or fold game. I managed to knock Charlie out and we go 3 way. Bfillmaff is on a short stack, I am on a medium stack and Milo the big stack. I lose a big hand to Milo and now I am basically dead even with bfillmaff, who the both of us are pretty dead to Milo. Milo is on the button, I am the SB and Bfill the BB. Milo folds, I have like 6 bb and theres no point in even looking I shove, bfill calls and to the flop. We both had just junk and were really trying to end it to give Milo the game. I ended up coming from behind and beating bfill and actually had him covered, so now bfill is out and Milo has like a 4-1 chip lead on me.

Heads up game is all shove or fold, blinds were insane, we were at 2000-4000 600ante and as Milo said only 70k chips in play total. I got it in, milo calls, of course mil is ahead. YAHOOOO I donk out the double up. now I would say chips are 2-1 milo. We get it all in again, and YAHOOOOO I managed to donk him again from behind. sorry Milo..... Now I have the chip lead 2-1..... WOW.... Milo shoves, I look down and see A10 YIPPPEEEE I call..... Milo has K7 this could be it..... NOPE 7 on the river Milo goes back to 2-1..... I think we did maybe two more all ins and swapped chips back and forth. It wasnt like we were picking spots to shove either, it was basically everyone hand was all in now. NOTHING, no winner yet, we just kept swapping back and forth, but the sick thing was, whoever had less chips, was always the one getting it in bad, and was the one to hit and double up.

Finally blinds got to 3000-6000-1000 ante rriiiiiiiiiiggghhhhtttt theres only 12 bb in play total. At this point I managed to regain a chip lead and its all in again, I have 8-3 and milo had me beat again pre. Sure enough I hit and as sickening as it was I won.

The cash game- It was just a little .25/.50 game but it was sure fun. I was up some money, then I decided to get frisky with Milo and dumped him my winnings. CRAP! Its okay I would get him back later. played a few more hands got close to even. For anyone who wants free money, just look up when I am playing cash and I am always willing to donate to a good cause. A couple of hands later, it was time for a little fun and revenge with Milo. Milo opens the pot, I 3bet him, it gets folded back to him now it is heads up, a little friendly banter and table talk, which is strange cause I am usually so quiet on the table, and next thing you know I have convinced Milo to ship it all in pre-flop with me, "lets ship it all in preflop here since I know you want to call or raise this hand and im not going anywhere, so lets just ship it all in preflop and runit4times ;). No deal! 3 times so we have a winner at least! DEAL" I turn over AJ and Milo has KQ. I hit broadway on the first hand, second Milo hits his K and the third one Milo hits his K and I turn my A, yahoooo......

Anyways, it was a great afternoon, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, Bill is a great host, and for anybody that wants some real value, I dont know how many times Greg has to explain this, but Bill is giving away money so to speak to get you in the doors, I would prefer nobody else to come so that +ev stays very ++++ but lets be honest, Bill is doing a cool thing here and I applaud his tenacity.

Thanks again for hosting and thanks for the pics Bfill..... I was trying to stay all secretive in my poker career. Now everyone is gonna see me coming, and all I will hear is those whispers like "hey isnt that the guy that won bills big tournament" "and hey isnt that the guy who runs it like a billion times"

    Thanks Andrew :(
