I am fast coming to the conclusion that this crowd does not recognize a gift horse
in the mouth, but am still determined as ever to succeed in my
endeavours to provide a daily poker tournament, where even if
1 player shows up the show will go on.

Hi, long time reader of these crazy threads, first time caller.
I don't think you're entirely clear on the gift horse in the mouth idiom, nor do I think you realize how underwhelming your "incredible" offer is, no matter how many times you use CAPS LOCK.
As someone who works in the entertainment industry, I can sympathize with the incredible changes that have happened to home video distribution over the past decade. The local video store owner has been hit particularly hard, and when you are close to retirement age it must pose a whole different set of challenges - both financial and I'm sure existential as well.
I'm sure you will adapt and find a new venture, but forcing it down people's throats and telling potential customers/GOLD MEMBERS that they are not smart enough to realize the value in your service is rarely a smart business or social move. All you can do is put yourself out there, be patient, work hard, and see if people bite... You can't explain someone into wanting something they don't want.
I've seen others give you constructive feedback on here that you seem unable to receive without getting defensive, so I don't know how you will take this... But my hope is you can take a moment to step back, reevaluate things, and maybe move on to something new that you can be just as passionate about.

Thanks for your input, but I'm not forcing anything down anyone's throat and I
think I've come a long, long way in revising my initial plan. I've taken advice from
Wetts and pkrfce to guarantee the PRIZES and have the 7 pm poker tournament
and freerolls even if only 1 shows up.
I've seen so many people on this forum trying to organize house games with
the final result CANCELLED, not enough interest.
All I'm saying is, if so, come to my place, THE GAME WILL NOT BE CANCELLED.
Remember when I was asking the question, " Who is John Galt ? "

I got a phone call from a couple of friends reminding me to go to Brantford tonight, but the online games are just too juicy to pass up for now. There were seven seats sold as of this afternoon.

Don't know if they're going tonight because they had the option of buying
whatever entry suited their individual schedules.
There were 28 players tonight. Hopefully there will be more players on June 23. In case I'm out of Casino Rama's tournament early, I may try to join Milo & pkrfce9.

I can not believe that Milo who joined The Poker Forum in Dec. 2007 and a prolific
contributor of 13513 posts and BlondeFish who joined in Sept. 2005 with 4807 post
contributions have NEVER MET.
I've been here since April with 209 posts and have met both, like and respect both
not only for their advice and willingness to try to help me get this FUN POKER CONCEPT off the ground but also because I can tell both of them to screw off if

true friendship.
I would like to make my place a meeting ground for all the characters on this site,
where for $1 a day, $30 / month GOLD MEMBERSHIP, you can play poker everyday if
you wish and maybe match up the words with a face. Maybe a lasting friendship.
