Silva vs Weidman 2

Silva -145

Any thoughts? Prior to Silva's last fight most people would be placing $$$$$$$$$ on Silva at these odds.

Do you think Silva has lost all interest in fighting and is on the downswing that most great fighters hit at the end of their careers?

  • I don't think Silva lost interest at all in fighting. He got caught in a punch where he uses his "dancing style" the same as he has beaten many other great fighters with. The question is weather he will have a straight forward style, hands up chin down where he uses his speed and Muay Thai or will he be doing some fancy moves. I think Anderson will win this and he got some fire lit up his ass.

I think Weidman wont catch up with Anderson's stand up game and will try to take him down in late rounds. Will be very interesting to watch can't wait!

I do not bet on sports so I'm not sure "how good" are the odds...
  • Go and re-watch Silva v. Leben, and both of the Franklin fights. Silva is on a mission. It is not that he lost, or even that he lost because he got caught "clowning" his opponent. Now people are shifting from the "he got caught" meme to the "start of the slide" meme. He is going to come into this fight motivated, not just to win, but to show his critics that he remains what he has always been, the p4p best fighter in the world today.

This fight will end no later than round two. Probably with a choke that Silva will hold just a fraction longer than needed.

As for the money line . . . this is as close as ANY fight Silva has had. If I remember correctly, it means that a $145.00 bet on Silva pays $100.00
  • Silva won't lose twice in a row...

    Silva Via 2nd RD TKO
  • i'd put money on silva.

I'm ok with you investing all BAP $$ on Silva
  • It's a fight so . . . NO. In fact . . . HELL NO !!!

    Almost wacist . . .
  • I'm rooting for Weidman. Silva made it tough for me to like him with his constant "clowning" dance and I was glad to see he went down last fight because of it. Hopefully he tries this tactic again and goes night night.

Drunken Stupor is to blame if the above doesn't make sense
  • Makes sense . . . but won't happen. Silva will "dance" after getting the belt back. There will be no "clowning" by Silva in this fight, it will be all business, and it will be a clinical destruction of Weidman.
  • I hope Weidman wins, but he probably won't. A focused and determined Anderson Silva is very dangerous.
Good luck Weidman, you'll need it.
  • I would not wager on anderson in this fight. In all of his fights his opponents take some lightning fast shots from him or feel his power when he was younger or they simply just crumble due to the mindfucking aura that he does in his fights. Weidman appears to not have that same fear, also he has the clutch bonus of having the middleweight belt already taken from silva. So if he already failed to fall into silvas game, I see little chance of him deviating from his goal and getting that deer caught in headlights effect that every single one of his other opponents had, or like leben and franklin near the beginning of his career, were just completely outmatched. Weidman is clearly far superior to any of his opponents up until this point too. Anderson landed so few strikes on him, he practiced avoidance.

That all said, :D:D:D:D:D:D:D go Silva! He is legendary MMA fighter, he just has his work cut out for him and is barely a favorite imo you could flip a coin.
  • Um is it wrong that I really want to see Tate Rousey 2 more than Silva Wideman 2?
  • I want to see it, but im not excited for it as much, because it seems incredibly likely that Honda gets an armbar because thats what honda does. I mean shes like -900 or something insane, there isnt many people at her weightclass that gives her any real competition yet imo rhonda should fight cyborg! ultimate female fight.
  • Cyborg would crush her
  • i know right, god that would be awesome
  • It's funny that the UFC does not even comment on the existence of Cyborg despite her being under contract until recently...I enjoy watching the UFC, but they are a shameless promotion machine first and an MMA organization second. Admittedly, all I watch is the fights and I don't watch or read pre-fight hype, etc. but I don't ever recall Cyborg being mentioned in the same sentence as Rousey...I don't think that I've heard her name at all in a year of two.
  • I could be wrong, and im too lazy to look, but i think cyborg had some issues with HGH or some sort of enhancement drug. Was it recently? ehhhhhh i cant remember... That would definitely delay her getting into UFC...

Thn again it could be ancient news but i mean look at her, how could she not be juicin'
  • Yeah... She was suspended for 9 months a while back
  • ...it's only Gay if they make eye contact

    Silva FTW by submission...

Likely to end up being very anticlimactic . . . like the return match in hockey where the first game was really chippy.

Except that Rousey fights in the women's division of MMA.

See above. And yes, Cyborg got popped for roids a while back. but her suspension is done. The issue now is, aside from having Tito Ortiz as a Manager, she will not even consider cutting to 135 to fight Rousey. Kind of hard to push for a 145lb weight class when you are the only "woman" there. I think if she did make the cut, it would be so debilitating for her that Rousey would stand a better than average chance.
  • Silva in the first round -- under 3 minutes
  • OUCH..Silva's leg broke in half with a front kick to Weidman... :(
  • That was the most absurd thing Ive ever watched in the UFC. Christ.
  • does anyone else think he was knocked unconscious in the first round?

haha you were right, the ladys fight was super exciting!

Second most, as I watched when Corey Hill did the exact same thing a few years ago. Rogan even referenced that it was the second time this sort of injury had occurred in the UFC.

Sort of like Silva's career, going forward.

A flash KO maybe, but his eyelids were low before the punch landed. Silva usually spends a fair amount of time watching his opponent's footwork early in the fight, hence the appearance of "closed eyes". With a knock-out, the eyes roll up into the upper eyelids, and you do not see that in this instance. No way to tell for sure, and it is academic, now.
