  • Cooool.

Maybe this time i'll play some.
  • Does poker.wsop.com accept players from Canada or just UK? I'm looking for a new site to play in, hopefully with satellites to these WSOP Canadian events.

I wonder why Caesars holds WSOP Circuit events in BC & Quebec, but never in its own property at Caesars Windsor. ??? Hopefully, Caesars Windsor will at least have satellites to these WSOP events.
  • Awesome! Montreal bound once again!

YOU would play in these? A $300 + $65? The guy who hates VIG? The Main is like 1500+ 175 I think even.

These guys are just trying to get in on the Montreal action, big difference in what the player pays though. You want to pay double, enjoy.
  • That rake also includes the 3% that most other tournaments take out for staff, that is written in the small print

Yes, it does include this thankfully. It's still 5%-10% higher than what's coming out of Playground's prize-pools for example. Their timing for this is ignorant to say the least. All it does is stretch the local playing communities money.
  • Ooooohhh... looks like I might be buying myself a nice birthday present, unless I can win another satellite like last year
  • Does anybody have a link with the details for upcoming WSOP Circuit Events, including rake and structure? The WSOP.com site seems to have become much worse, and I can't find out basic information such as structures, rake, and who can play at their online site. I emailed support@poker.wsop.com then Nolan Dolla, but my questions have still have not been answered.

  • Buddy said River Rock does not want to pay the high fees this year.. but it seems it is already confirmed.
  • Structure for all the 2012/2013 Circuit Events are on the right side. Just scroll down a little bit World Series of Poker - Official Tournament Coverage and Results
I doubt they will change for 2013/2014

They usually don't release the schedule of events at each venue until it is closer to the date of the start

If you look at the main events the WPT is actually higher

    WPT $3000 + $300 + 3% = $390 rake

    WSOPc $1500 + $175 = $175 rake x 2 = $350 ($350 is raked on every $3350 of buy ins)

It is going to be a wicked few weeks of tournament poker.

Flawed math though, Doesn't cover the 2 extra days of play, 20 minutes more per level and 10k more chips...

I'm also not sure if this includes a charity portion of prize-pool either, over and above reg? Alberta has 2.5% removed, not sure about BC or Quebec.

Seems to be just reg and gratuity in Kahnawake

Anywhooo mostly griping as I think it was tacky to piggyback off WPT. They could have come up with own idea. FWIW Casino Montreal did a $2,500 right after the Spring Championship and it got like 3 tables....
  • +1. Playground's total rake was 12% ($2910 + $90 hidden + $300). Some WPT circuit players were complaining that Playground had a higher rake than other WPT $3K events. The WSOP Circuit Main Events have a lower rake than Playground of 10% despite only half the buy-in! :o

Anyway, there's nothing to hate about the WSOP coming to Canada with 24 WSOP championship gold rings! :cool2: It's a lot better than having to fly to a foreign country to play a WSOP event with 30% tax. Players that were considering playing Playground/WPT Montreal or WSOP Montreal now have a choice of playing events from both.

  • I wish I could share your enthusiasm but this move seems more like political verdictivness than anything. Casino Montreal runs small events for years, the LadyLuck/EspaceJouer situation happens and now all of a sudden this?

Had they chosen any other block if time I might feel differently, this reaks of taking a cheap shot. It's a cheap attempt at getting in on the success of what the WPT and Playground have started.

I wonder if they (WSOP) will have a live stream for these Canadian events only available to American viewers again?

Hopefully they bring same team back so we can get constant updates on Matt Afleck and nobody else since they have zero clue on who our regional/national grinders are

What was the LadyLuck/EspaceJouer situation about?

While less players than last year would probably want to travel again to Kahnawake since the field is no longer soft, from the PLAYERS' point of view (such as SteveKerr, crazykoby, Tonychanman, Macke, me, etc.), there is now a greater incentive to make the trip since there are TWO series instead of just one. Even Playground's #1 enemy of Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler may make his triumphant return :cute: because of the extra OPTIONS!
  • I wonder where they're going to hold this?

The poker room at Casino Montreal is certainly not capable.

I dont recall there being a large conference centre therebut I might be wrong.
  • One rumour is that WSOP Montreal may be moved to Casino Du Lac Leamy in Ottawa. There seems to be a labour strike at Casino Montreal which has delayed renovations enough that it may not be ready to host the event on November 13-24.

Is anybody planning to go to any of the following events?
    - WSOP River Rock, BC; October 27 - November 7
    - WSOP Montreal; November 13-24
    - WPT Montreal; November 18 - December 6.

Looking at the first WSOP-C events this year at Foxwoods, the $1,675 main event has the same rake of 10% as last year, i.e., $1503.50 + $46.50 3% administration fee in fine print + $125 "entry fee". WPT Montreal has a higher rake at 12%, even though the buy-in is more than twice as much at $3,395 + $105 + $350 ($3,850).

  • Riverrock details?
  • I plan on playing the WSOPc and WPT Montreal Main Events
  • I'm waiting for the prelim schedule but I'll definitely play one or two River Rock events and likely one or two of the WSOPc Montreal events.
  • Are there going to be any home game satellites to these three & other Canadian events such as Brantford $1,090, Blue Water Classic, or Fallsview Poker Classic?

OPT is running sattys to many events, including WPT and WSOPc, check their website.
  • Sweet! Contacted both Steve & irunit4times. Are there any other home games that run satellites where all or almost all of the total buy-in goes to the players' prize pool?

I remember when there was so much interest in this forum in having home game satellites to the WPT NAPC $10K events, but hardly any actually took place so I had to play the high-rake crapshoots at Fallsview. The availability of decent satellites, tournaments & cash games seems to be the best ever for Ontario, much better than four years ago. With all the $300-$3,850 WSOP/WPT/casino events going on this year, this is the best year for Canadian poker players to play live tournaments! :cool2:

  • Steve (OPT) has been running satellites to a lot of the big events for many seasons I recall... All of them are no rake.. Trouble is not a lot of real fish..

  • It has now been confirmed that the WSOP Circuit events in Quebec for November 13-24 will be moved to Casino Du Lac-Leamy just inside the border of Quebec. This is good news for me as Lac-Leamy/Ottawa is one hour closer than Casino Montreal. I'm hoping that I can drive with my family on a weekend to see the Ottawa/Quebec sights after the tournament. I want my daughter to see the Senate before it gets abolished thanks to Mike Duffy, Pamela Wallin, etc. :p

The cash game rake is up to $11 in Lac Leamy and up to $15 in Playground/VIP, :rage: so it looks like I won't bother with cash games or we can all make the drive to Snake's Poker Club for the $10 reward/hour. I have updated my $500+ Events in Canada thread.

  • Lac Leamy falls under Quebec jurisdiction, and use the standard french deck during their tournaments and cash games.

Wondering if they get exceptions for Wsopc to use a standard deck?

I mean, you get used to it, but looking down at RDss and pocket VV for the first time can be confusing.
  • Happy to see change. Also as for Van, seen Playnow.com tweet official schedule as of Aug 31st:
