My new Bucket List: Fly in lunches with CPF members
I was supposed to visit WildBill this weekend by flying up to Kincardine, ON. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and the trip has been delayed to (hopefully) next week.
This got me thinking, though. There are several members of CPF who live somewhat close to a small airport in Ontario and since I need more cross-country hours anyway, why not try to get together for lunch?
Would anybody in Ontario be interested in this? We could meet up at whatever airport is nearest to you at a certain date/time and we could have a meal somewhere close by. In fact, some airports have small restaurants right there on site.
Any takers?

I have trouble parking my car on your street let alone landing a plane there!
Milo, I didn't want to be presumptuous, but I did have a few people/destinations in mind, you included.
Here's what I was thinking. Feel free to confirm/tell me off:
Milo-Brampton
Wes-Buttonville
Toronto Island: somebody DT, like Blackmagicz, pokerJAH or SuitedPair
Windsor-Cerb
Burlington-Comp
If anybody else wants to meet up with me, feel free to add yourself and the nearest airport. Note, Pearson is not an option.
Edit: doable

Burlington Executive Airport
Totally doable. So it this:

Also an option! I'll add you to the list.
Definately want to fly in for a Jays game. Hell of a way to beat the traffic on the Gardner
Just say plane . . . Cessna has a prop, no jet. Still pretty cool, though.
2 cross-country stops in one trip! Pick you up at TI, take a scenic tour of TO then get you home to Buttonville. That would be so cool!
Just say when!
Give me a heads up on that one.
haha..No, not yet. Although I am working on my night rating now. The airport in Richmond Hill is Buttonville, BTW.
Dad, I assure you that I am a better pilot then poker player
This was true after your first lesson, no?
Haha. Maybe by the 2nd or 3rd lesson
Anybody want to join me to meet WildBill for lunch?
EZ game.
Thanks for lunch, Bill!
Not exactly highbrow, it was at Crabby Joes.
Had a great visit though. John got to see our wee little house. Ace gave him the warmest welcome he could muster and didn't give the deepest growl he's cabable of. Queenie tried really hard, but could only slither around the house hiding behind me and keeping a watchful eye.
John let me sit in the cockpit and push a few buttons. Being claustrophobic, there is no way I could fly in one of those planes for very long or else I'd go bat shit crazy.
Funniest thing was when I got to the airport and told the guys there I had a friend coming in and wondered if they knew how close he was. They said John wasn't far away and to "just look for the black cloud of smoke and you'll know when he got close!"
Anyhoo, it was great to see John again. Here's a couple of pics of the man in control of his fantastical flying machine.
Too bad. I was going to offer you a flight around Kincardine in a Cessna 150, which is even smaller the the -172. I'll leave it up to you.
OK, CPFers. I have the plane booked for this coming Saturday. Who's next?
I'd be into that John, I'm just not sure I could spend more than an hour in one before I started to get squirmy.
