name of poker/card room?

OK guys, I need your collective brainy minds to help me brainstorm ideas for the name of my new condo's 'poker room' or 'card room'

Getting custom felt printed and custom ASM or Paulson chips made up. I have a few months to do all this but first comes first, the name.

I have racked my brains for the last week or so thinking of names. Im stuck on either using a simple sexy name like the Bellagio, The Mirage, The Luxor or The Aria OR going with something fun and cute like 'Piss'd N' Broke Poker room' or 'Drunken Donkey Poker Place'.

So lets say I go with the first idea of the one word casino type name. any ideas for me? The Oasis?? The Odyssey? Zen Palace? etc etc

your brainstorming help would be awesome to zero in on what suits me.

thanks!

  • I assume this is going to be in your residence? Are you on an upper floor? Is there a regional name that you like? A few more details might help us. for instance, if your condo is on an upper floor you might go with the following:

    The Aerie

Regional names can be tricky, unless it isomething that holds great meaning for you personally. I have tried to make "Appleby" work, but nothing I have come up with really works.
  • Its a first floor condo. The Aerie? why does it matter what floor its on for that to work?

It will be on Huron st. so I was almost considering 'the huron club' but that sounds too commercial.
  • Aerie are usually associated with elevation/height.
  • Being that you live on Huron, you could go with things related to the Huron Confederacy . . . like the Wendat Room, or Wyandot Club
  • Huron Poker Hut
    Huron Poker Hub
  • Right now Im leaning on Zen Club, The Huron, The Oasis (dont think there is a real casino of that name) . But I still have a few weeks to decide.
  • The Huron Room sounds too much like a convention facility, The Huron seems incomplete somehow, like you're not sure what it is (car? boat? type of house?). How about just: HURON ROOM
  • Right now Im leaning on Zen Club, The Huron, The Oasis (dont think there is a real casino of that name) . But I still have a few weeks to decide.

Zen Club sounds too much like a bunch of guys sitting around discussing what kind of sound you make when you only use 1 hand to clap.

The Oasis might be unused, but The Palms, The Sands, the Mirage, all play on the same theme.
  • Maybe incorporate the name Thames since you're near the river:

    Thames Card Room
    Thames Card Club
    Poker on the Thames
  • 'Piss'd N' Broke Poker room' or 'Drunken Donkey Poker Place'

You want to spend money on custom tables and chips with these names? Incorporating the street name or part of town you live in is common.
  • I just think The Oasis is in the lead right now. But if this helps anyone, this is the table I am building exactly like this so maybe invision some ideas that would fit well on this table...I think the Oasis would go well on the felt and some kind of palm tree logo on the raised lighted rail part ;)

piss'd n' broke is a real name from a member on chiptalk. the drunken donkey one i made up haha
  • Palm trees? Like the Dunes? You may like Oasis now, but long term? Originality has longevity . . .
  • Milo.. just when I think Im onto something you make me think again. thinking about this decision hurts my brain. haha
  • It's what I do . . . are you that close to the Thames river?

    Huron Heights Card Club?

Also, what is that greenspace at Cheapside and Sandford called?
  • your pretty close with Huron Heights. Im in that area

not sure what you mean about the greenspace.
  • Google maps shows some sort of park at that intersection. School, maybe?
  • The Taj Huron
  • Huron Heights Casino

    The Longhouse.
  • I think I have made my decision... 'The Huron'

I just bought my first home (condo) on Huron Street. So it will be like a homage to the new move. Just need to hire Johnny5 to help with design and I am all set! :)

or, if anyone here is great with design and photoshop and wouldnt mind helping me out that would be great. I have a basic idea of what Im looking for in a chip design but felt design Im totally up the creek.
  • no thoughts on this? I would love to hear your opinions before I make it concrete

    thanks
  • I was thinking of

    The Neverlook Club

    'All-in blind since 2005'

    Winner!

IMO, 'The Huron' is kinda lame.
  • not a big supporter on the neverlook club. neverlookback is part of my hotmail address and I really dont use it anymore. I made this forum profile a while ago and most of my usernames on forums lately I have used 'spikeithard'.

Im trying to think of ideas to make sure the name stays personalized and not some random fake casino type name. My name is Chris May and thats a very boring name to make into a card room name I think. I will be living on huron st. in my very first condo. I dont have any nicknames really. I cant think of anything that really en capsules my personality to be able to put to a room name. All I have right now is 'Huron' or 'The Huron'

I dont think its thats bad but I also think I might be able to do better. The problem I have is time. It takes 2 months roughly to produce custom ASM chips. I need to submit an inlay and name by next week to pokerchipsonline to be able to have the chips for my new place by mid june.

this is hurting my brain guys. Its such big decision!
  • Mayday club

'down in flames unless you spike it hard'

    Burning ww2 bomber theme

    Or

Burning arrow impaled on an Ace of spades. Arrow represents Huron Indians.

Or arrow impaled on two cards, which represent your street address

    Winnar
  • I thank you all for your efforts but Im looking for a short and simple name. most people I ask what they think of 'Huron' or 'The Huron' like it a lot. very few say its too boring.
  • I used to live about there when I was yay high and all, just call it "Montcalm sucks and don't get stabbed"....No seriously "The height of Huron"
  • good play on words but too wordy. luckily I found a nice condo in that area :) lol
  • Not a bad drive for me if really the area when I find the time to zip out and seat open HA ....anyway forget the words and name spin it the other way "HOH"
  • I like "the Huron" well enough. Like moose's idea, but would substitute a hatchet (Tomahawk?) impaling two cards as the logo.
