paging Vekked or BetrThanPhil! need ringer for Bubble Protection media even

so, there is an Invitational Bubble Protection media event on the 29th, that will be commentated and Ustreamed. goLeafsgo, pipedream17, Moorman, Jarzabek and a few others will also be playing and hosting.

Buying is $27+$3+$3.14 but is comped. Will be on Party and I have just asked if I could sub in one of our best and then write about it for PokerNews.ca

  • Fine...don't ask me.

    But don't forget Wetts..
  • Wetts would also be a great pick!

as for you Mr G. no offense, it's just you know that whole saying "don't bring a knife to a gun fight"...

Not saying you don't slay but as far a storys go...1 milly, vs 4 milly, FTOPS Jersey VS FTOPS Jerseys, triple crowner battle royal...you get the point

Seriously though, if it's outside media, a "big name" is prob only option.
  • I have 7 milly in play money I will have you know.
  • What about the moderator of that great Canadian poker forum, pokerforum.ca I think it is? He's distinguished (nee old), well spoken (no more than one grammar error per sentence), fantastic poker player (well if it wasn't for all the people that keep beating him) and on top of that has free time (when he isn't running around after his grandkids that is).
Can't recall exactly who he is but somebody must know where to get in touch with him.

And yea, any of the three mentioned above would be logical choices. I have never met Vekked or BetrThanPhil before but have played with Wetts numerous times. If you need someone who is well spoken as well as being a good player Wetts would be your man.
  • Sent them a PM on facebook
  • Comp, let's do that! Here is what I propose and BTP is in BTW...

Anybody from the poker media is allowed to play and BTP have been approved to help me write a better review. If you can PM me an email addy will forward info Comp.
We will register you as Media for PFC and PokerNews.ca with BTP being our expert ringer.

They would like us to try the product ourselves in a fun environment, since we already had a thread on this here: http://www.pokerforum.ca/f8/bubble-protection-26872/

...this is a great opportunity. I am asking Earl Burton (PokerNewsDaily & Canada Poker)
To play so I can write up an article there. Vekked can represent for those and PFC too of course.

Given that the ringers are also influential on 2+2 and P5's, this will be a great way to give it a fair shake and I'll write it up for the news sites based on feedback, so hopefully there are some positives too. Either way the test environment is an awesome idea!

I didn't want to get carried away with the ringers, but wanted a few real grinders. Vekked and BTP were first to come to mind as they aren't restricted by day jobs, as this is an afternoon event. Obviously the volume they put in and track record make them also great choices, though many here slay just as hard.
  • Ps: write ups we can quote our participants. Between PFC, PNC, CP we have the highest Alexa ranked Canadian Sites, so we can give them a bit of ROI based on reach and review.
  • yea sure I could probs play
  • I'll have to read up more on this bubble thingy, haha
  • Bubble protection is a bad idea.
It takes money out of the poker economy and creates a sub-bubble.
    Insurance is -ev.
  • What bubble ???
  • think its a very smart idea for them. Obviously could be very +ev for them, plus I think it might be a good investment for a lot of the sunday tourneys.
  • Obviously anything that takes more money out of the prize pool is -EV. I can't believe this is actually gaining traction.

ofc it's -EV. But if the field and varience is huge and your roi is high it might be nice
  • I am not asking anybody to necessarily endorse it, just play a tough closed field, try it and see if it could help as bankroll management tool. I think it's good on them to set up this event and it really has been front and center as of late.

The media event is supposed to let those participating gauge it for themselves and since they are covering buy-in, insurance, hell why not take a test run via our grinders so we can be a bit more informed.
  • On that note, as far as I have heard, BTP your funds are shipped and asked to get Vekked and Compuease to fill out Reg ASAP if they are in.

Only email addy I don't have to forward info to is Comps, Vekked should have already.

this bubble protection thing is not taking any money out of the prize pool to my understanding.

It is separate from your buy in and rake

you pay your bubble protection insurance through bubbleprotection.com totally separate from your buy in on the online site like pokerstars
  • what about the money bubble bubble tho

    Just sounds like extra rake.

You don't have to do this bubble protection if you don't want to. So it is totally up to the player if they decide to do it.
  • I've been itching to try Bubble Protection and was looking forward to playing in this PartyPoker invitational, but unfortunately I have an important appointment that day. :arghh: I look forward to the reviews of the forum participants along with bigdogpckt5s, GOLEAFSGOEH, Moorman1, etc.
  • will be a good tourney to watch!

Will attempt to write an honest review for this event and represent PFC well. Thanks for organizing Jon... Hopefully my Wetts avatar will bring good luck. He really should be the one playing instead of me tho..
  • I sent Wetts a FaceBook PM but couldn't get in touch, Vekked will be traveling. Would have loved to asked for more players, but didn't want to abuse the invitation. Next time we'll change it up.

Compuease and BetrThanPhil will both be in the mix, this is going to be a sick, sick field!
2:30 EST will be streaming live via U-Stream on "BubbleProtection" FB page (all one word if you use search bar) Will have to catch up when I get home at about 4:30 EST, after our ringers have handled some of the riff raff
  • Figure I may have a huge advantage since most won't have much info on me as well as some may be playing way under their "normal" fields/buyin levels.

Who should I watch out for? ie is there anyone who doesn't put their pants on one leg at a time?

by the way, I have made my avatar the same as on here in honour of Wetts...
