  • I'd have to say cheating is more the exception then the rule. Stay away from games with cheaters, there are enough honest games.

You have been to Nitro's game. It's a tourney with a cash game on Friday nights.

I'm also not a big fan of Brantford, but that has more to do with the game then the room. The room is amazing and well run. I'm not a big fan of LHE and much prefer NLHE. Have you tried the NL game in Niagara? There's 2-5+ games at Fallsview and a constantly running 1-2 game at Casino Niagara. Best thing about playing there is your usually playing at a full table and its very easy to beat the rake. I've been to a few home games with rake and it can be real steep, killing the action.

I found the 1/2 is useless because so many people limp in, and anything can flop. I prefer the 2/5 NLHE at the Fallsview because more people just fold if they have sh**. Most people just play the 1/2 for the bad beat jackpot I think.

lol, so you want people folding when you have a good hand? If too many ppl are limping in then raise bigger, simple game...
Sorry but I really do find it funny when people infer they only want to play better players.. Guess they don't like money...

I don't want to play better players, and I did not infer that, but I found the 2/5 game put more money in the pot with you playing against 1 or 2 people. The 1/2 game encourages limping and there is not so much money to be made. You can raise large, and advertise you have a big hand, then everyone will fold. Or you can raise medium and get 4 callers.

I don't think anyone makes much money at the 1/2 game, it's mostly recreational and waiting around for the bad beat. The 2/5 game is more volatile and it's possible to make money.
  • And that ladies and gentlemen is what bet sizing is all about... Whether you play 2/5 or 1/2 is strictly a bankroll question.

Disagree. There is a lot of money to be made at the 1-2 game. There are more weaker players at this level and many buy-in short and feel pot committed, causing them commit themselves with losing hands. I usually double or triple my buy-in in a few hours.

The 2-5 is a totally different game. A lot of interesting things happen in that game since a lot of the higher stakes player mess around in that game while waiting for tables. I've seen regulars try to shove a new player off hands with a re-shove preflop and suck out huge. The regulars also know each other and you have to be careful. Not that they're playing together, but you can inadvertently get pinched between them trying to make moves on each other.

That is so true. You have to adjust your bets relative to the players at the table and not just the blinds. At a looser table, 5-6x BB raises can be normal and get lots of action!

And remember, a table full of tight nitty players will not get you much profit. You need to have a few loose players to drive the action and over call with loose hands.

1-2 for some, a lot of dead money yes, but I do not have the patience to go get it lol!
