just gunna give up on online.

im just fed up with online poker. im not trying to say that its all rigid but i just can understand why i just can get anything going. have deposited 4 times in the last 2 months only to go busto. can not stand playing the micros but im just not comfortable with putting a huge part of my roll online so i can play the stakes that i play live.

played in a 80 tourney lastnite at my local cardroom and came 3rd. score 650. but when it comes to online it just never seems too be there.

i dunno, i guess i will just stick to the live grind and play the cards as they lie (in my left hand where they belong.)

just maybe looking for the forums thoughts, i know some of you play at higher stakes and im just wondering what you did to get thro the dread of online busto.

  • if your not winning at micro stakes its likely youll win less at any higher stakes ???

but what are you looking for here...i don't really play high stakes some mid and a lot of micro but if you make more +ev plays i promise youll win more!
  • I am the same right now also, just can't get anything going, can come close to getting deep itm but fall just short everytime.

I am really considering coaching but paying like 50 bucks a hour is not optimal for the levels I play at.

If it slows down at work after the christmas rush I may look at applying for team moshman again but not sure.

I was playing on stars but I just got fed up and withdrew my roll and now keeping a eye on a couple of other sites and may try those.

I have an account on pkr. At the .10/.25c too the .50/1.00 there is some fish but the only thing is you can get the volume in with so few hands an hour. ( fr. about 45/hr)
  • I make lots of money playing live but I don't enjoy playing online at all. If you don't enjoy playing you aren't going to work on your game or win.

What are the important terms for Team Moshman? When I eventually reach that point when online gets too tough and I become only a break-even player that makes money through rakeback/promotions, my choice will be either to look for a tournament coach or retire from grinding to spend more time with my family.

I'm just looking for a place to vent. And I'm not looking to play much higher stakes, just maybe 1/2 or 2/4.

I'm a winning player at 2/5nl live with a 6 buyin br. Even play 3/6 somtimes(shortstack) and am quite comfortable playig there but I can't catch a break online

okok...ya the skill level is obv higher online...i mean live 2/5 is prob around 25nl and 50nl.....i could be off on that though its just an estimate....

also what this shows though is youre not adapting your game to online....which makes sense...and im sure you have a live advantage over online players (ive dealt with it myself being strictly online)....but they certainly can identify you as a live type player and have an advantage online vs you....

but with venting i hear ya....awful game :p

Ah, so it's the site that matters and not your play. Please let us know when you find one that we can all consistently win at.

Ya it seems I can't adapt to to the betting patterns online. Live I relay alot on tells and reads

Agree completely... 1/2 live equivalent to 25NL online, both of which I can get ahead at. Soon as I move up 1 level at either, can't make a dime consistantly.. Pretty sure it's because I tighten up too much..
It's neither the poker room or site, it's me...

there are books and video dedicated to the adjustment....well some books have a section for that...but its just once you begin to adapt you feel like your live game actually helps you kinda thing...

ya you prob have to learn how to make money off of your style....when you move up most players prob play like you and the winning player use the counter strategy.....

i sure you get that tho.....but what i always think about people who are tightish and experience is if they play like 11% of hands...all they need to do is add like 4% bluff......and bluff once in awhile for no reason....maybe you do i think thats good but i never catch a nitish player bluffing and i think thats such a waste because you can never ever look up a nit on a bluff...

    a) 6bi BR -- nice, 10-20 bi downswings never happen live

    b) wtf is 3/6 live?

    c) see facedesk

    d) c'mon

I feel the same way about my play . . . namely, it's you.

    1) betting patterns are 90% of live poker as well, do you think you are making sick reads in more than 2 big pots a session live?

    2) please

    3) see facedesk

    4) c'mon!
  • My sick reads:

one) you don't keep detailed records of your live play

two) like most live players that don't keep records, you aren't actually a winning player live

    three) no offense

    four) some offense
  • As i was told when i complained is that you are obviously a terrible poker player. You need to learn the ABC's of poker.(That isnt coming from me buns. That is what everyone in here told me when i complained about bad beats and poker being rigged). Check out my thread "is it just me....".I win live all the time too. Most people in here believe that live poker is no different than online. I feel for ya buns.
  • oh i see its already started.....careful buns what you say. they will threaten to boot you.
  • I'm not saying oline is rigged and I'm surely not saying I'm always winning live. But its my records( which I have 2 notebooks now mr gta). And no complants. I know in poker u gotta take some beats to learn ur lesons.

And no offence taken. Even if u ment it gta. but the only way u get better at something is by asking other ppl questions. That's why I come here

what you're missing tho is this is a poker forum....having it kinda assumes that poker isn't rigged....furthermore this forum frequent a handful of some of the best in Canada (not myself)....and we get a few people every week some real some trolls suggesting its fake...so ya they usually just toy with them till they get fed...

A better question than is it rigged is....what am I doing wrong....asking winning players if online poker is rigged is just gonna get you laughed at.... :(

    and ya...raise more

Ya i hear ya Darb.It just gets so damn frustrating at times. For example.. the other night i was in a tourney at party poker and had worked my way up to 25000 chips by stealing alot of blinds etc. So all of a sudden i get AA. Blinds are 1000/500.I raise to 3000. Just enuff to scare some donks out and enuff to get someone to call and make some coin. Buddy goes all in with 27000 chips. Of course i call and he flips over 99. 9 on flop and im out of the tourney after sittin there for 3 and a half hours and just shy of the money.I realize AA only win 80% of the time but it seems like for me its 50%.....just saying. I raise alot, but when chips get low i dont want to be out of the tourney,so i get tight. You have to. When chips are high i usually raise at least once around the table.

    I can't see why you're losing.
