  • So are they shutting down?

Received an email from Meet Up that the group was being discontinued.

Your Organizer, allen, just stepped down without nominating a replacement. Without an Organizer, CAMBRIDGE CARD CLUB(POKER) will shut down on January 15, 2013.

FYI, I also got several of those emails and sure didn't sign up for them. I am taking steps to find out where they originated from. They did not come from PFC.

Did Al sell his list? Not kosher imo... Is his Friday night game defunct?

That's what I was wondering. Looks like meetup allows other members of the group to take it over when Al didn't name anyone.

Step up to become this Meetup Group's Organizer and you can guide its future direction!
Other members can help you. Ask them to suggest Meetups or even nominate a few to help as Assistant Organizers.
  • Wouldn't be so bad if those idiots didn't type in caps so fucking much, my god.
  • Organizers of meetup groups do not have an actual email list where they actually know your email address.
Organizers just choose a link that says email members, and if you chose to accept email from the group, then you will receive the emails.

ACES have taken over poker groups in the past on meetup and the first thing they do is change name to TAPC, add all their games from their original meetup group and start sending out numerous emails.

Just log into what Cambridge Poker Club used to be and remove yourself from the group and you will no longer receive emails from TAPC

No, Al is just doing it all through facebook now. You have to 'join' his facebook group to get notices.

  • Any idea what his facebook is, would like to join.

    It is here:

You can also search for "Cambridge card club" within Facebook and find it. Al has to approve your membership because he doesn't want anonymous people.

    Ted.

compuease is hardly anonymous at the Cave. He's been donating there for years. :)

Pshaw, I just don't wear hat and presto.. incognito...
  • So I take seekthegrail to the Cave tonight but we are the first two alternates. I get in. Bust somebody to get Steve in, which is btw the only hand I win in the entire tournament.

So seekthegrail misses the first two levels, gets to the final table without taking any bounties and binks the thing.

I win better than 2nd place money in the cash game plus my 10% of seekthegrail.

    The Cave: better than ever.
  • This group removedme right away from the group. I had already started the process of telling meetup to close the group. also sent a message to tapc group to cease control of my group. I was able to convince the meetup to shut down site.my concern was the players on my group be subjected to the toronto group. I was prepared to start legal action if it neede be.

Such is the way of the wild west internet.. FYI, it's ok to threaten it but legal action on the web is difficult and expensive... Glad they listened to you Al..
  • The Cave rocks! SEARed the final table all the way to the bink.

Thanks to Al for allowing me to take part in the tourney and join the Cambridge Card Club and to Moose for being patient after being forced to keep playing cash while he waited. Lol. Cheers, Steve
  • Does this game still have a waiting list on Friday's? I haven't been in ages and was thinking of coming tonight except I wouldn't make it until just before 7. Is there normally still a waiting list? If so how long?
  • It depends. Last week it did not, but it can still get crazy some weeks I guess. I haven't been there much in 2012. Al said he can never tell.....

Had 46 or 47 I believe last night. Finished 8th, got all all in pre at FT with JJ vs KQ vs K10 who covered both of us. K10 made a flush to take us both out. Would have put me 2nd in chips if I hold there. Lot's of loose play and strange characters. I hadn't been since last fall and I notice that there are quite a few new people..
  • this place still up and running? Wouldn't mind donking my way to a cash Friday night
  • I think it is on hiatus until August 16.
  • Going tonight, anybody else?
  • Does any one have contact information for Al, the host of this game ? I need to find out when and what time the season ending free roll is.

Nevermind, I just got the email from Al with all the info.
