I hope you are being facetious, or I may have to Hobbes you..
Yes I was indeed. I was aware of the buyin and how it is divided up, it's stated right on the meetup page. What I was curious about is, what are usually the average prizes for the finishers ie. $400 for 1st, $250 for 2nd etc...No biggie, I was just wondering. Going to try and make it out tomorrow
I'm heading out to the Cave this Friday. I played at one "cave" game a couple of weeks ago but it was a community hall. Just wondering what the setting is like at Kinsmen Hall?

The regular location is called the Cave and is across the street from the Galt Arena Gardens. The Kinsmen location was a one night deal.
I'm gonna check it out too for the first time tonight...
The $30/5/5 structure seems good since I'm a regular at the Bridgeport Rod & Gun tourneys...Their structure is $15/5 with no bounties but unlimited rebuys at $20 for first hour average 80 players so the prize pools work out similar minus the season ending tournament pot.
BTW KWsteve, all the details are actually kinda scattered on the six pages of this thread; but here goes:
The Cave is at 105 Shade St. in Galt across from the Galt Arena Gardens; it starts at 7 and the buy-in is apparently $40. which covers a $5. bounty and $5. towards a season-ender.
I'll bet dollars to donuts that I've met at least a couple of regulars on this board in person before...we'll see!
It was a packed house last week! Furl room with a waiting list. Seats were filled until the start of the first break. Cash started later then usual due to a table nut being available. Not sure why there were so many players there, but make sure you go early if you want a seat!
Well sorry for the late reply but that was the quickest exit last week... Only recognized one or two of you tho... Oh well I don't play that much poker anyway. I'll be back for another lick tonight! At least I met Johnny in person
I'd like to get out there one Friday but 7pm is just so early on a work day. And if it's filling up before 7, then that's even harder to get to.
I'd hate to drive a half an hour to find out I can't get in.
There were 61 runners on Friday. There are only 50 seats, so 11 people were on the waiting list. I got there myself about 7:10 and was #8 on the list. I got on a table sometime around the start of the last blind level before the break. Al won't let anyone buy in after the first break.
+1. After making the 50km drive from Burlington, I was turned away. Just showed up way too late. Al had a packed house and even gave up his seat. so yeah, get there early
The last few games have featured a more then packed house. There are a lot of new faces and the return of some old regulars. Big fields = bigger prizes!
The last two weeks have been packed. We had 63 and 61 players in the game. the sad part was that two weeks ago 5 players did not get in or left, this not including myself. I do not save seats for anyone, if you want a seat it is first paid, first served. Some players have bought seats for their friends, I am ok with that as it is paid. Players must come in before the second blind level is over. if they are on the waiting list I will seat them up till break. If no seats are open for the waiting players, I will refund the money back to them at break time. I will not seat players after the break. I do not think it is fair for the players in the tournament and in some ways to the player who is coming in to the game. I wish I had a bigger place but right now this is all I have
I'm not complaining about how u run the game - sounds like u have it well oiled your success reflects that. I was merely inquiring because it's really tough for me to get there by 7 and was wondering if there would still be seats open at 7:30.
Sounds like not, which is great for you, and I'll just have to wait for a Friday where I get home from work early enough to get there by 6:30.
I really hope you keep a packed house - it's good for the game.
@Card Dead Not sure where you are driving from, but an open would be to have an PFC member buy you in. Surely there's someone that knows you at the Cave.
Sadly, no. I don't know anyone who plays at the Cave.
But I am surprised they allow that - will keep it in mind for future.
I know there are a few PFC from Milton playing at the Cave. Maybe you could post a message in this thread asking for someone to buy you in? You could arrange to pay them before hand.

40-45, pays out $30. for the prize pool, $5. per bounty and the rest into the season ending tournament.
Pays out a whole $30 eh? Helluva rake!
$40 to enter
$30 pay out
$5 bounty
$5 season ending tournament
$0 rake
Very well run tournament. Worth your while to make the drive down to play.
I hope you are being facetious, or I may have to Hobbes you..
I believe the correct expression would be 'hobble you'

And yes, get there early that's good advice...
