Comments
"My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion
I'm not even posting to this facking song, I hate it so much.
The 1st two times I've stopped at the Bellagio fountains in Vegas this song was playing. FML.
Yes, I edited the OP I was hoping that people would add their picks after I put up mine. I will continue and see what happens.
Feel free to play along, Jim. I know you're a big music fan too.
Metallica. If you don't like 'Tallica then you can stop reading this post. There will be a few more from them during this list.
Anyway, I love this band. Their title album (know as The Black Album) changed my life in high school. The guitar tones where just so different from what anything else in Hard Rock. It's taken me years to duplicate their sound out of the amps I've owned. If/when I hit a big score I'm going straight to Steve's Music in TO and ordering one of the signature guitars.
I've seen them 8 times in concert and had the pleasure on 2 different occasions to meet them. Very nice guys when dealing with their fans. Yes, I'm a lame Metallica Fanboy.

2. Tbd
3. Exit. U2
There not all going to be U2 lol.
'Creeping Death' from Ride the Lighting by Metallica.
One of the best Metal records of all time.
YouTube - Metallica - Creeping Death (Studio Version)
The first album I bought, "BB King Live at the Regal"
The best blues guitarist, playing to a live audience, back and forth — The energy is incredible.
I saved my money until I bought an ancient 1957 Gibson ES-175.
So HAWT! I saw B.B. and Lucile in concert in '01. Fantastic show although he was/is too old to move around the stage.
I would love to sit at his feet and listen to his stories. He is a GOD.
See bolded . . . I will update daily, or at least try to . . .
That's cool but:
a) Please don't get ahead.
b) Please edit the quoted posts before you respond. It's easier to read.
c) Please explain 'Amazing Grace' It's a beautiful song, but not what I would expect from you.
Complicated by Avril Lavinge
OK, I admit it. I love Avril. I think she's more than a pop star. Her albums have great guitar work ,thanks to Evan Taubenfeld. (who is a very underrated guitar player)
YouTube - Avril Lavigne - Complicated
YouTube - Rush - Circumstances
a) I'm not trying to get "ahead", just figured I would use June 1 as my start date for simplicity, and to spur discussion.
b) Had planned on just adding to my original post, but I can do either with no worries
c) I have loved this song since I was a kid, moreso when I first heard it on the pipes during a TV broadcast of the Edinburgh Tattoo. Then I saw the movie, and learned of the explanation of how it came into being. I have not planned everything to do with how I am going to leave this world, but "Amazing Grace", solo on the bagpipes, is already on the service schedule.
"Ode to Joy" Ludwig von Beethoven. Not the Symphonic version, but rather the one taught in Sunday Schools, that uses the melody. It was not until I was 8/9 that I learned of Beethoven's 9th Symphony. That is when I started listening to "Starlight Serenade" on CFRB to help myself go to sleep, and my appreciation of Classical music began.
Day 06: A song that you used to love but now dislike
Used to be great, but being ridiculously overplayed on the radio, I hate THAT SONG now.

Day 07: A song from your childhood

Born in the USA was the 1st album I bought on cassette as a kid. Wore it out in a few months.
Emerson Lake and Palmer - Fanfare for the Common Man
Yeah....like Grade 3 or 4.

Though "dance" may require some latitude, I do find myself moving to the rhythm of most Motown tunes. I will go with the following selection . . .
YouTube - Brick House (Muppets From Space Version)
The only instrument I ever learned to play was the Baritone. I can play the Colonel Bogie March very well on it. If you need to know what that is, think Hogan's Heroes. I can also play Wipeout, by the Surfaris, on the bongoes, but that is all.
I wish I could play the Bass guitar part of Phantom of the Opera by Iron Maiden. Took my buddy Stew a couple months to learn it the right way (fingers, no pick).
Remote Control by The Clash. Love the driving guitar intro . . . always gets me revved up . . .
this is her jumping the shark
YouTube - Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend
I will not deny that she is marketed as a Pop star. The singles are usually the songs she has outside help with, but most of records are written by her and her band. That's why there's such a huge difference in styles. But if you go past the radio singles, you will find some incredible rock n' roll tracks and a few folk songs.
Like I said, she's my guilty pleasure.
I'll will catch back up later today people!
but end rant ill continue enjoying the thread
13. "What's Going On?" by Marvin Gaye and, if I am allowed an alternate, I would pick "Hurt" by Mr. Johnny Cash.
14. "Stay Free" by the Clash. It reminds me of a friend I lost while serving in the Reserves. He was killed in a motorcycle accident. The key lines are as follows . . .
Cos years have passed and days have changed
And I move anyway I wanna go
I'll never forget the feeling I got
When I heard that you'd got home
And I'll never forget the smile on my face
Cos I knew where you would be
And if you're in the Crown tonight
Have a drink on me
But go easy . . . step lightly . . . stay free
RIP Bruce, miss you.
Balls to the Wall by Accept. It brings me back to one of my favourite concert experiences. Krokus was the headliner, some band with a switchblade through a heart was the opener, and Accept blew everyone away . . . well everyone except yours truly. That was taken care of by someone else . . . good times at Massey Hall.
16. Hocus Pocus, by the Dutch group Focus. I remember hearing it all the time when we were in the Netherlands in 1972 (family vacation). I also remember watching the Munich Olympic massacre unfold on ABC's Wide World of Sports. This fun, goofy, prog-rock tune never fails to bring back the image of Jim McKay . . . "They're all gone . . ."
17. Silent Lucidity by Queensryche.
18. Tempting to pick The Streak, but I will have to select the following:
Several Species of Small Furry Animals, Gathered Together in a Cave, Grooving With a Pict.
That is the actual song title, and when you figure out the song writer/band, you will get it. Or not . . .
