deals and suggestions for Vegas trip?
now that i have confirmed going down to the WSOP i just want to prepare the minimal cost of stay and max for play. last year when i went during february my total expense in CAD was $430 for return flights and accommodation (7 night stay at imperial). this time around it will be more for sure but i'd like to get advice on saving $$.
is there any hotel that has free wifi? is there a way to get free meals when booking your hotel (like 3 free breakfasts)? i plan on staying a while so my costs will run high but if anyone needs to split a room here we can do it...cut the costs in half. not a creeper or anything but pretty much all my friends have work and or can't make it b/c of school during june 10-19. i'm going to book the flight as soon as i get a cheap deal and hotel im going wait b/c harrahs is offering two nights free during some period of stay up till may for now. so im hoping the june offers will come out next month.
and besides imperial what's the cheapest hotel to stay in with a fridge lol. i didnt even get a fridge last time around which was a pain!

I would prefer direct flights which I know are going to be more money, so far I just checked out lasvegas.com which shows good flights but for quite a bit more money.
R4L: No hotel on The Strip will be cheaper than IP. Maybe Casino Royal. If there's a hotel with free WiFi, I haven't heard of it.
If you are into buffets and want to save some $$, although your stomach would not want to do this more than a couple of times, Harrah's has the "Buffet of Buffets" pass that allows you a full 24 hours to eat at any of their buffets for $45. So, if you buy it at say 7pm one night, you can get dinner, breakfast, lunch and squeeze in a second dinner at any, or all, of the Rio, Caesars, PH, Paris, IP, Harrahs and Flamingo. Not a bad deal, but you gotta go slightly off hours when the lines are not huge.
I booked my flights this past weekend through Expedia for June 16 - 23, so I am definitely going at that time.
Crazykoby and myself, as well as another buddy or 2 will be down there from the 17th to 24th'ish
We have our room booked at Rio for the whole stay. Crazykoby got us the room for $90 for the whole week.(comps are awesome)
I have booked a 1 way ticket, so I can stay or leave as early as I want. Flights home last minute are cheap if you don't mind the red eye and a stop over
Elaborate please.
I was in vegas staying at IP and playing Venetian's Deepstack Events at the beginning of February this year. So at Venetian sitting at the poker table I searched for WIFI on my iPhone, and it asked me to accept the terms, I did. Did not ask me for any hotel info like room number or my credit card number.
And I was connected to their WIFI. Checked my email, twitter, facebook, and this forum without any problems
That is an amazing rate for a week at the Rio!
I am going down solo again, so I would be glad to connect for some drinks/poker sometime during the week and we will probably be in a few of the same events/DSEs. We can start a "Who's going down thread" as it gets closer.
That is a siiiiick deal!
i'll give you my cell.......i probably will be a solo runner this year around too. do you know where u're staying as of now? i still have to book my flight but i'll be there before you. june 11-19......so text and we can meet up...discuss the events lol.....i;ll def be playing the DSE at the venetian also so maybe we can enter one together.....416 278 3614.......holler
Thats where I stayed during the WSOP in 2009, actually the rooms we're very nice and roomy as well, think I payed about $100. for 5 nights then.
I get some pretty sweet deals from Harrahs. It helps that i've gambled lots over the years
That's the key to getting deals and comps rapz... You have to run lots of money across the tables or through the slot machines.... Now whether you win or lose doing that is what's called luck... Playing only poker you get VERY little in terms of comps.
I am staying at Caesars again. I can definitely PM you my cell / email contact details as it gets closer.
ok sounds goods. how did you pay for your stay? i'm trying to avoid IP and try ceasars for a change but right now i can't find a cheap enough deal.
I am booking it through Harrah's site using a promo on my TR card.
But for now, here is a pretty good offer from the Palms

Super sick Palms hotel deal during WSOP - WSOP and Tournament Circut - Live Poker Tournament Forum
I might have to start playing poker and go to the WSOP this year...
I'd love some feedback on the following questions if anyone has the time:
Has anybody seen this type of room at Bally's? Is it clean/alright?
Is the shuttle service to the other Harrah's hotels worthwhile?
Can I get a better deal?
I'm determined to play in the Senior's event on the 17th! Hopefully will win a satellite sat the day before.
Thanks
I have a few friends that love Bally's so much, they stay there every trip. I've never been, but I here it's clean and safe. Wetts has been there, I'm sure he has better info.
All the Harrahs proprieties are within a 1/2 hour walk of each other. Unless you are planning to go to The Rio, you won't really need the shuttle service. Since you are planning on the WSOP event, find out the times and take the shuttle. It's free from any Harrah's hotel.
Unless you have a partner/friend who has the TR card, you probably won't get a better deal on a hotel, esp at Bally's. If you do call the hotel and get them to add the extra # with yours and you should get a much cheaper price. IP is cheaper overall, but it's a dump. Nice score on the flight from TO. Won't get much cheaper then that!
Good luck with the tournament!
Did you call or book online? It seems better deals can be had if you call directly. Tell them you are there to play the WSOP and maybe they will give you a better deal.
I think like every hotel in Vegas, you will hear good and bad reviews. I have never stayed at Ballys myself, but I know a couple that stay there almost everytime and really like it. For the price, you are at a nice location on the strip. It is a short walk through the tunnel to Paris, which has some nicer restaurants.
You probably have a South Tower room. At check-in, either try the $20 trick or just talk nicely to the registration clerk and try to ask for an upgrade to the North Tower. I have heard that the North tower rooms are a bit more spacious.
I found the shuttle service very unreliable in 2009, but maybe it has improved. You can walk to every other Harrah's property except the Rio. If you are only going to the Rio for one event, then a cab from Bally's to Rio is probably $9 - $10 one way.
That is a sick price for your flight... I paid alot more, but I have no flight promos or air miles...
A little info: although I booked my flight with Air Miles, I was able to pre-select my seat by calling West Jet directly once the booking was made with AM. It cost an extra $ 10 per way but it is worth it as I need to sit near the front to have less turbulence. Also, would not want to be in the back near the bathroom! lol
Also, when booking with Air Miles, the flight I booked didn't come up online - they all had connecting flights so I phoned and was able to get a direct flight. There is an extra $ 30 charge for booking on the phone, but it was the only way I could get the flight I wanted.
I'm leaving on June 15 and coming home on June 20. If anyone else will be around at that time and wants to connect, please pm me.
Now to book the tourney! I would love to be coached before I go and talk strategy. Is there anybody in the Oakville area who could spare the time over a beer or coffee (my treat)? Let me know.
Tried calling back Bally's and mentioning WSOP. No luck. Probably because my rate is already super-low.
Also, asked about the North Tower and it is a few hundred more. Will try the $20/smile technique once there.
