Funny shit that happened the other night. My friend raised preflop. I folded AJ knowing for sure that he had a pocket pair. Another friend who was out of the hand asks what I fold, I show him, and looks at me as if I just farted or something. He questioned me on why I folded, then someone went all-in and got called by the raiser. They both had pocket pairs, 9's and J's. Great laydown at the most perfect time because if I had called, I would've been too invested to call the all-in as well. 8)
There were two big stacks (one of which was me), a medium stack, and a tiny stack. Big stack pushes all in for about 215K preflop from the button, I have AA, 200K chips in the BB. Blinds are 4K-8K, short stack has 14K.
I folded.
For Scotty: I had about T200000 chips after posting a T8000 blind.
Now if that was a normal tournament then you should certainlly play your AA vs. the big stack. But when the prizes 1-3 are all the same, then survival is the most important.
For what its worth, I busted out 5th (yes, 5th) on the very first hand of the Party $600+40 WSOP satellite when my top set of Js got it all in on the flop against AA, who made his overset on the turn.

Down to the last 4, top 3 get seats.

Did I miss something?[/i]
Thanks, I get it now. For some reason my initial thought was that the BB itself was 200,000.
No, I did.
Duh...just passin' by... duh.....
Good example of the kind of situation where you should fold AA pre-flop. Nice play.
