    1. moose is a decent poker player. Who would admit to being ugly and did porn even exist before the internet was invented?
    2. I don't know if it counts as crazy or a stunt but breaking into my boss's office to read my personnel file ranks up there as pretty stupid.
    3. I gave away my son's ball glove that he had outgrown to the first small kid I saw at his game last week.
    4. I gotta go with the Roadrunner, he was fast without even trying hard.
    5. I had a couple $8500 or so wins online.
  • It's a disgrace that Sandra won Survivor last night, would you agree?

Are you looking forward to next season or is it back to meh?

    Why the name moose?
  • Booze, meat, or nookie, which one gets the heave ho?

Also, is it true you are about to be named the "Official Chip Supplier" to the 2010 WSOP?
  • Why was it so damned hard for me to find casino chips while I was in Cuba?

I would have figured on a juicy black market for those . . . but nada.

Disgusting. It was a joke when she won for the first time. She is just mean, negative and dumb as a rock and people like her for some reason? I don't get it. She's never won a single challenge. I know the point of the game is that you have to get the people you voted off to vote for you but Russel has a point too. I guess to get voted off and be on the jury you have to be dumb as a rock as well, which is a flaw in the game.

I will likely watch again. It was interesting to find out this season they were banned from being in the ocean or the jungle. I wondered why there were hardly any water challenges.

I came up with Loose Moose as a team name while sick in the hospital. I was there for most of 3 months so I had a lot of time on my hands. I used it for all the co-ed sports teams I played on in University. Since I ran the team, I was the Moose. One year we came 1st or 2nd in every single co-ed sport the University offered and we didn't lose a single game in 2+ years in broomball and softball. I stayed an extra year at University just because essentially I wanted to play sports. My wife and I each won the top award for co-ed sports given out by the University in separate years.

  • This worked out very conveniently:

I just saw a pretty disgusting 1000 Desert Palms Chip offer for ~$200 that Im thinking about buying on ebay.

    Good buy?

Ive never seen / handled Desert Palms so I dont know.

If I am giving away my JW Blue, there's a reason. Doc's ordered me off booze so it's a done deal.

No but if they would supply me with a few it would be appreciated.

I could care less about any pro but I guess Dennis Philips has proven he is a solid player so I pick him.

I'm pretty happy with the chips I have now - I know revoke my CT membership for saying that. I guess a custom clay set would be nice but I don't have the time or graphical ability to pull that off. I like casino sets so the Aztar hotstamped tourney set would be nice. Olivia's for a cash set for sure and a playable Binions WSOP set would be pretty awesome.

Dream sports trip would be all the major league parks but I would have to go back in time see some of the parks I missed like old Tiger stadium, Yankee stadium, old Comiskey, and Candlestick.

I think I stay at Caesar's. The new hotels are nice but there is no history.

No don't. You want the compression clay version and you get those by contacting the chiproom directly. Same price, better chips. jim@thechiproom.com

You could try here if it still works.

Interview - don't know. I pretty much live in the here and now, though history does interest me. I think there a lots of moments in time I would like to visit and experience for myself. Getting it second hand from someone just isn't the same.

1 Rio - the beach, mardi gras done deal.
2 Cairo - the pyramids done deal
3 Paris - I don't think you could live anywhere higher on the hog than Paris with all expenses paid
4 New York - it would make my wife very happy and hotels are beyond mortal prices so it's tough to go on your own dime.
5 It's tough, Japan/India/China are all very cool appealing/unappealing for various reasons. McMurdo Station I guess. Does that count as a town? I think that is a place to visit that could never be duplicated by any other trip anywhere is the world.

No but there is a Loose Moose bar in TO that I found out about after dreaming up Loose Moose for myself (they stole my idea).

    Once in the past year.

No I want to know the face value not how much they are worth.

    tl/dt

I used to know for a few sets but with the crash of my HD I lost the most up to date version of my spreadsheet and haven't bothered trying to update it since.

Also kind of pointless because rule 1 on chiptalk is never admit you have enough chips but rule 2 is never mix your sets. So a grand total of the face is kinda useless because you would never mix your sets together.

Most of my sets can go up to 32 people. The upper limit is easy to reach but the problem is having enough denoms to make a playable stack. You need at least an 8/8/2 distribution which is $2000 and then add the larger denoms to make up whatever starting stack you want. So 32 people would require 256 $25, 256 $100, and 64 $500 minimally.

For better playability you would want ideally 8/13/5/1 $5000. I could do that up to 50 people but to get to 10K, I only have 40 $5k chips, so that would be my max for a $10k starting stack. I could do 35 $20k and 35 $40k stacks. This is my all casino chip set.

In my Desert Sands ceramic set, I have more flexibility to go even higher with starting stacks. With an 8/8/6/1/1 distribution I could do 47 people 10k starting stacks but also the same number all the way up to 50k starting stacks.

I had more chips in both sets but I actually did sell some of my excess chips. :o

  • I'm also in the market for an additional set of tournament chips. Be nice to get them personalized, but not necessary. I prefer a heavier chip personally, but I'm also flexible on weight.

What would you recommend for 1000pc set? Planning on using them more for deep stack tournaments for 20+ players, but could also be used for weekly games as well. What price range would I be looking at for personalizing as well as for not?

What devil ever possessed you that forces you to collect the chips you have? Have you used every set at least once, or do you have chips you will never intend to use for whatever reason?

Have you ever endulged in the nectar of the gods known as Screech, and if so, what are your thoughts on this sweet liquid honey of pleasure?
  • Favourite chip?

Most valuable chip? (I'll take collectible value or cash value)

Any buyer's remorse on a set? If so, which ones?

Casino Aztar . . . other than that they are Paulson's what is the attraction?
  • Can we go curling again?

    When?

    Why not sooner?

You don't really want a heavy chip. After handling them for a few hours in a poker game you will hate them. To get the weight up they slug the chips, which also ruins the sound when they splash in a pot. 8-9-10 grams are what real casino chips weigh. They vary because of the weight of the metals used to make the pigments colours in the clay. So a white chip weighs differently from a black chip.

To get a custom chip the cheapest way is to get ceramics. There was a PGI sale @ .45 ea early in May which was a sick price.

    Palm Gaming International Offers -

Normally you are looking around 65 to 85 cents for a custom printed ceramic. Above that you can get hot stamped clay chips for .95-1.25 or so and completely custom full inlay clay chips for 1.20-1.85 or even higher. Also if you don't do the design yourself, you may have to hire a designer or pay additional design fees to the manufacturer.

My advice would be to pick one of the existing chinese compression molded clay designs - Desert Palms, Dunes, or Pharaohs and go with that or wait for either a ceramic sale or a group buy project on chiptalk that you like. But that takes a lot of patience to wait it out. Also if you do buy these, double check with me first to make sure you are not buying injection molded chips, which look the same but are totally different and slippery crap.

I bought the chips I have basically because I wanted to provide a quality gaming environment for my games. No use playing without the right equipment. I started with 1500 free Desert Sands chips earned through PSO promos and then one night I fired a bid on 500 Tukwilas casino chips on impulse (maybe the Devil) on ebay and no-one outbid me. After that the hunt was on. Usually you can start a set with a base chip for a very good price, maybe .50-.75 ea but its the filler chips, that you only need a few of, that really kills you because you end up paying desperation prices just to complete the set.

My latest sets started out with the .25 chip sale last Nov. Because my sets are mostly chips from actual casinos, your sets are in a constant state of flux as you find better options that match better with what you have. After getting most of the chips for a quarter each I kept changing the chips until now my latest and greatest cash set doesn't even have any of the .25 chips in it! Lol! I kept building the set around better and better chips. So that was probably the devil's work as well and right now he is laughing his ass off at my expense.

This is it. It's a great set for many reasons. The mold is the same on all the chips. All the chips are mint except for the $100s which are pretty close to mint. It's a true mixed casino set. Every chip is from a different casino. The casino's are from right across the US - Massachusetts, Missouri, Colorado, California and Washington. All the inlays are textured. The colours and the spots are just awesome. I love my set.

    P1020918.JPG

    P1020924.JPG

Every set I have has been used at least once, though I have a lot of chips, say a rack or less of different filler chips that may never get used, though the intention is to use them hopefully. I bought 32 $20 chips just recently because I really want a cash set that uses $20s instead of $25s but they are white and don't fit at all with my current cash set because the $1s are white. So they will sit until something else catches my eye and then maybe I will build a set I like better around the $20s. But kind of like a garage sale you are forced to buy it even if you don't have a current use for it because if you wait, someone else will buy it and then you might never see that particular chip for sale again, in the quantity you want and the price you want.

Here's some chips I wanted and I'm not sure where I will use them.

    P1020933.JPG

    P1020935.JPG

However I buy my chips with the intent to use them and play with them. There are many collectors who buy 'museum pieces' because they feel they are too valuable to put into play. Some of the common sets available can go as high as $40 per chip quite easily.

Never had screech and never had it described as sweet liquid honey of pleasure. You must be thinking of some other type of fluid. Was at the Newfie club last Fri and no-one offered it to me but I might have taken a try.

Most valuable single chip is my Ritz $1000 and $5000 chip, about $20-22 US each. People actually have sets of these.

Here's a shot of some (not mine). If you think I'm crazy, I'm not even down the block from the nuthouse where some of these Chiptalk guys are staying.

My most valuable chips are my Harbour Lights $500s. They were insanely hard to put together in quantity. I might have the largest collection of these in the world. Top 5 for sure. A rack of these sold for $750 on ebay, though mine didn't cost that much, I could easily break these up and sell them for $7-10 each. I would never do that, there are many people with more expensive/larger sets like the Ritz but the value of these chips is in the fact that I have 215 of them and I can play with them and no-one else does. Even though they are worth more, there are many dozens of people with large playable Ritz sets, so it is not as unique to have a playable set.

    cdnmoose-albums-misc-pics-picture5492-215-harbor-lights-500s.jpg

Probably sellers remorse more than buyers. My latest casino tourney set needed some chips I ended up selling at a small loss a while back and I had to spend more money getting chips that weren't as nice. My initial Tukwila purchase I put in a bid for on ebay, fulling expecting to be outbid and I probably paid more than I needed to. Other stuff I paid a lot of money for but sometimes you just have no choice because there are limited numbers available and fewer people willing to sell.

Casino Aztar - I actually posted on Chiptalk that I thought they were fugly but I bought a bunch in the 25 cent chip sale for my nephew and ended up falling in love with them and getting a lot for myself (like over 1000).
