Thanks for the offer, but I have to go to a place in Milton called Modern Crane to do a couple repairs (yes, on a sunday) and im not sure how long it will take, so I really am not sure if I can make it or not, as much as I would like to...

Ill have to keep someone from here informed.

Does your seat have to be reserved or are later ppl ok?

I posted on the meetup site regarding this but no one answered yet, maybe someone from here can?

What name did you use on the meetup site...? Don't see any post like that there..

  • Looks like "ignore" township just experienced a population explosion . . . :D
  • Sorry gentlemen, I will not be able to make this after all. Uncle "RALPH" made a surprise visit last night. First time in years I've had the stomach flu and it has to happen today. Just made one last valiant attempt to prove to my wife I was fine to go and I produced a disgusting little sno-cone in the garden on my way to the car.

Just wanted to let you all know in hopes that I'm not considered a "Dick" Gregory......and I don't mean this guy.

    Gl to all forumers today.
  • Grinded out 9 hours for a little more than a min cash. Lost a pretty significant pot 5 handed when my QQ<JJ and then got LOL live poker slowrolled when I shove my last 7 blinds from the button with 88 and villain hums for a bit before calling with JJ in the BB.

Big Bob still in with lots of chips so GL to him cause most of them are mine.
  • so how was the attendance?..wetts, compuease?....

    31 entrants.
  • Sorry I missed this you guys. Haven't checked out Ontario forum in a wild cause usually there is nothing here that interests me cause I'm in Markham.
  • Really enjoyed playing Sunday. Well organized for the 1st week at this location. The levels don't need to go 40 minutes. Grinding 8 hours for a $100 buy in is a bit too long.
  • i think Kurtis should just have the 50$ buy in with 30 minute blinds..it will attract more recreational players increasing the attendance..its tough to grind 8hrs and finish barely in the money just to double up the buy in..i know, ive done it a couple of times lol..having said that, its a well run rake free tournament, which at 50$ will get 45 to 55 players. in my opinion...

Were you at the final table?

Trouble is it's not rake free anymore, nor is the cash game. The club it was held in on Sunday will get closed at some point, not a good location imo...
  • well compuease no one told you to play in the cash game after the tournament was over. I can't stress this enough that with this kind of feed back this league will not stand a chance to survive. If you would like to donate your house for free and your food for free and stay at least 10 hours to run the game and receive nothing for it then by all means knock yourself out. I don't know about you but working for free doesn't sound too smart to me. How do you expect the league to carry on without the donation money? We had a perfectly good game going for all just 15 minutes out of Orangeville but was "too far" for some. Well drive the hour and a half to casino rama and don't forget to ask them about their rake. We are not affiliated with this club, they were just generous enough to let us use it for our sunday league games. By saying these rediculous things over the internet is exactly what we shouldn't be doing. If you don't like the games or the structures then don't play. I'm tired of working (actually losing money) for free any way.

Kurtis - I understand you are frustrated.

However nothing has been said that wasnt a fact.

The league has been moved to a club. If the cops show up they are not going to care whatsoever that that the league is not affiliated with the club.

The game is well run. However, those players who used to play in Orangeville need to know that what they are doing has risk.

Fact: It is no longer rake-free (The environment, not the game).

I agree though, this should be kept (Off-Line), and not for public viewing.
  • exactly......
  • Kurtis, you have me wrong... I am fully in support of you and the work you have been doing to keep this going, however it is just not safe for those of us who care to hold it in a raked club, whether our game is raked or not. As Wetts said, the cops, who will eventually come, will not care. I for one did not know it would be in a raked club. I certainly have no objection to all of us collectively paying the costs, but as soon as we move beyond that the game gets dicey and I have concerns.
I personally loved both the Bellwood and Orangeville facilities no matter the drive.
  • If you like Kurtis, I can "hide" this thread in case someone is watching... I never had an concern before but do now. I agree with Wetts. Just let me know. Be aware that "they" can just as easily be watching meetup.com as well... Apologize if you thought I was slammimg you because that was certainly NOT my intent.
  • It's all good Comp. I found out on sunday who comp is and I hope you know I wasn't directing everything at you. I know you are a big supporter and I hope you keep supporting us. I understand where you are coming from but I am out of options. Maybe we will be relocated by next season, until then this is all we have. I dont think you have much to worry about but it's your call. I didn't see you sunday and I hope it's not my message that kept you back. Your a big part of this club and I hope to see you back. We are thinking of memberships to a private club just for our ontario poker league players. A membership fee will allow us to pay rent for a place for the year, we would have membership cards and be free to do as we choose. We will be getting everyones thoughts on this as the summer progresses. What are your thoughts on this
  • No problem at all Kurtis, I know it is very frustrating for you and that had nothing to do with me not being there Sunday. I had a family thing, however I do have concerns about the location, and you know what they are. I would love the idea of doing some sort of private club just for us and would certainly be a big supporter. I'm not sure if I can make it this Sunday but will be back... Good luck Kurtis, I do not want the league to die either... We should talk about locations offline sometime...
