  • In to take credit for Kristy's "exactly" 4500'th post.. ^-^

    What took so long?
  • Well what the hell was the point of all this work, if you're just going to do that Jeff?
  • Say Anything and The Sure Thing > High Fidelity
  • o/u on how many of these movies I've actually seen? (I guess you have to have met me IRL to guess)
  • Something from my era.... lol
  • Big miss without Grosse Point Blank imo.
  • How about Porkies... a classic...
  • There is not one bad movie on that list. Many of them have been favourites of mine for years. However, you got the Mallrats quote off. It's "You dumb bastard...." Also surprised at the lack of Ferris Buellers Day Off. Would also add:

    The Monster Squad
    092509monster-squad.jpg

    Totally Awesome
    totally_awesome_unrated_dvd_vh1_movie__medium_.jpg

    Fanboys
    fanboys-the-movie-star-wars-1.jpg

    Dead Man On Campus
    107478_3.jpg

There's obviously a lot more to add, but these are some crucial additions.
  • Also Clerks, So I Married an Axe Murderer and Weekend at Bernie's.
  • Great List for the most part! #1 is for sure in the right spot!
  • Gotcha is the only one not mentioned already that springs to mind.

Anthony Edwards trying to be a movie star . . . lolz

    Oooooooh . . . . The Breakfast Club.
  • I'll add mine later, but must mention, that Gizmo clip was from Gremlins II.
  • derrickone wrote: »

All of these were on the original list..oh and The Breakfast club..but I tried to stick to ones that people weren't likely to have watched in years. Ferris Bueller's Day off is on TV too often imo. Pete and I debated some of these multiple times, we're such geeks.

Other ones that just missed the list were:

    Heathers
    Stay tuned
    Mighty Ducks
    Short Circuit 2
    Gremlins 2
    Beautiful Girls
    Envy
    National Lampoon's Van Wilder
    Clerks II
    Ghostbusters 2
    Harry and the Henderson's
    Sixteen Candles
    Earth Girls are Easy
    Never Ending Story
Ghost Dad (more of a sarcastic one)
..off the top of my head.
  • How about Forrest Gump, Star Wars, The Godfather, Silence of the Lambs, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, & The Graduate? All favorites of mine...

The only one that even sorta fits under the 'silly' umbrella..don't you think?
  • Ah ok, missed the silly part..... silly me... But I like them all.. :)
  • Kristy, I dont like any of those movies imo.

thread fail, even thought it must have taken forever!

  • Back in the day of rent 7 movies for 11$ or whatever it was, we used to get titles such as:

    ~Revenge of the Nerds
    ~Trading Places
    ~Eddie Murphy Raw
    ~Commando
    ~Conan
    ~Mad Max
    ~Willow
    ~Howard the Duck
    ~War Games
~Anything with Steve Martin!!! The Jerk at the very least.
  • Just from a quick glance at my shelves:

    Accepted
Employee of the Month (probably only really funny to those who have worked in a grocery store)
Beer League (answered the often asked epic question "What the hell ever happened to Ralph Macchio; and this shit hole of a movie somehow warrented 2 discs! Great for the terrible jokes though.)
    Road House
Punisher (from 2004 with Travolta as the big bad guy; contains one of the greatest over the top fight scenes between Punisher and Kevin Nash in a Popeye shirt)
Bubba Ho-Tep (How the hell did this one miss your list Kristy??? Bruce Campbell as Elvis Presley, who pulled a life switch in the mid 60's with the greatest Elvis impersonator alive, is now in an old age home and, along with a black guy that believes he is JFK, has to destroy an evil mummy)
My Name Is Bruce (again, Bruce Campbell = WIN)
    Shoot Em Up
    Crank
Crank 2 (these three all fall under the so intentionally bad they're awesome category)

And last but not least, a poker addition to the bunch: The Grand. Phenomenal cast playing awesome random rolls. Filmed as a mockumentary, this thing makes me laugh every time I turn it on.
  • Beer League has to be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. Huge Artie Lange fan. Also, Bubba Ho-Tep is quite possibly one of the best movies ever made.

Just remembered this movie. As far as stupid or "silly" movies go, this one is up there.

Evil Alien Conquerors (Don't mind the spanish, it's in english)

YouTube - Alienados do Espaço (Trailer)
  • They Call Me Bruce -- forgot all about that movie:)
  • Great list Kristy. Have to agree with alot of your choices, especially Army of Darkness...what a masterpiece!!

Still, I'm shocked that these aren't on your list, or anyone else's for that matter. Both are epic features with amazing dialogue and story telling.

First, the all time BESTEST movie EVER MADE!!! I watched it...I OWN it...I piss the wife and kid off EVERY time I play it!!

    starship_troopers.jpg

And secondly, everyone's favourite high school love story of ALL time. (Admit you, you stop channel surfing every time you find it on, and your feet are tapping to the music as you smile)

    grease.jpg

    Now THAT'S quality entertainment!!
  • Clearly, AJ, you have no respect for Robert A. Heinlein . . .

Oh I do like some of his stuff. But clearly...society of giant bugs at war with humans? Classic story telling.
  • I'd like to add:
    Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
    Dumb & Dumber
    The Mask.
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
    Christmas Vacation

I think everyone else has the 'must see' list covered.

Seeing John Candy made me lol. I miss his comic genius.
  • Robocop: I'd buy that for a dollar!
    robocop.jpg

Spaceballs: That's the same combination as my luggage!!!
    spaceballs_355x497.jpg

Snakes on a plane? Get the motha fuckin snakes off ma motha fuckin plane!

    Holy Shit!

I thought I was the only one that had ever seen this!!! It's freaking great!

"Who could resist such an offfer? ONLY AN ASSHOLE KROKER!"

    Might I humbly suggest....

    jesus_christ_vampire_hunter_copy.jpg

I saw the tagline somewhere of "The Power of Christ Impales You" and I was sold.... that's right, Jesus and his luche libre friend take on the undead....

There are some amazing adds here, but also WAYYYYYY too many people who missed this quote and the thread title and are using this thread to show their l33t movie tastes.

    Yup, Bruce Campbell is amazing..
Ace Ventura and indeed MOST of Jim Carey's early work is unwatchable today. (believe me I've tried)

Anything critically acclaimed, serious, on repeat on AFC or still for sale for more than 9.99 is ineligible for this thread. ;)
  • what's that 80s movie by Mel Brooks, History of the World or something like that?
