Seneca Winter Challenge

Im thinking about Friday the 19th, staying over, and playing the 20th.

Witholding sux, but whatever, looks like much deeper structures for most this time around.

umm the US gov't for 30%?

    +1.
  • umm the US gov't for 30%?

    Fail.

For both 07 and 08 Ive never had issues getting my Seneca/Majestic Star witholding back at almost 100%.
  • This is really tempting as the 12th is my bday/start of reading week......only concern is the stupid witholding tax (dunno if I'd be able to get the 30% back myself).

    DO IT.

Im in Vegas in April worst case scenario I pick you up some losers from the sportsbook to compensate and get your monies back.
  • i am thinking the 13th and 20th tournaments
  • So tempting. So you want to play the Fri and Sat tournies?
  • I'm looking at possibly going on the 12th and MAYBE stay for 13th. The rest of the time I'm gone.

Yes. Go down Friday morning return Saturday night.
  • i might also play the 21st tourny
  • The 13th possibly the 21st for sure.
  • I'll go Fri 19th...dunno if I play the tourneys tho.
  • Do I need to phone ahead to reserve a seat in whatev. tourney I'm playing?

Nope. Let me know which ones you pick.

Woot. Email me about this, Im staying over Friday so we may have to drive separate but whatever.

And ur gonna play the tourney and u know it.
  • Can't go now, and I don't want to tell why!

Because I am soooo sensitive and you would laugh!

    :(
  • Just got booked in the Hilton for the 19th.

Plan is solid - playing 19th and 20th.
  • I might head down for that weekend; seem to be some decent rates at the Cdn hotels. They are giving away rooms. Probably just play cash if I go.
  • Heading down next weekend play some cash plus the tourny on Sunday. How was the tourny on Saturday number of players and payout plus level of play? Also any decent place to stay on a Saturday night on that side for a reasonable price don't need anything special just a clean bed and clean place to shower. Any help would be appreciated.
  • I just played the $130+10+10 knockout tourney at Seneca. Finished 6th of 75. Cashed for $412 but only got $288 and a form ;)

Luckily some local residents were awesome enough to buy the knockout tokens from the Canadians as they would have 'had' to tax those $20 bounties as well. I had 3.

A very well run tournament. 30% still leaving the bad taste in my mouth but hey I knew the devil was there when I signed up.
  • Congrats! How long did you play for?

Congrats....feel sorry for you Ontarians...having to resort to playing where 30% will be withheld.

I'm feeling a little spoiled in Alberta. Not sure how long it takes you to drive there, but it's only a 3 hour flight out here.

T8 when is the next "series", where I can come down for 3-4 days and get multiple tournaments in?

    Maybe like April/May?

Don't see it advertised anywhere.....but there should be one at Yellowhead Casino end of April or early May.

Tourney usually goes in this order......

    Wednesday: MTT Sattelite
Thursday: Small buy-in MTT NLHE (300'ish), or possible PLO
Friday: Mid buy-in MTT NLHE (500'ish)
    Saturday: ME $1100- 1500
    Sunday: Last Chance ($200'ish)

These can vary a bit (ie. final table Sunday for events on Friday & Saturday).

As soon as I have the dates, I'll post it in the Alberta section.

Other options are the Great Cdn Freezout at Cash Casino in Calgary the end of this month (not sure if I'll be trekking down for this one). It's a multiple day 1 tourney (3), with top 10% making final day.

Also one next month in Regina (check Saskatchewan thread).

Does not want to vacation in Regina.

When you get any details let me know. I might exchange my April Vegas trip with an Alberta trip to mix it up a bit.

Why at Seneca is it not like Vegas where your first $5,000 plus your buyin is given and then 30% witheld on the rest? It would help bring more Canadians across to play in the tournaments think that it would be a win win situation for all.

Honestly, I think its because theyre retarded. No lies.

When they taxed me on winning a satellite I ranted and raved and they gave me some BS reason about it being NY state law. Then I stated TS policy which is not the same, and they stared at me like space cadets.

Anyway, still good tournaments, and you get your money back for the most part. Just a little more bureaucracy.

Im playing Friday and Saturday, See you there!

Thanks! I busted out after 4+ hours. Blinds had just raised to 8k/16k I believe. Once the blinds changed I don't think anyone had more than 10BB.
