Compuease's Nov09 Vegas trip report (as we go)

Ok, will be logging my trip Nov 10-17 as I go. You can follow me on twitter link below which will also update my facebook.

I plan on driving to DTW Mon evening, staying overnight at the Four Points Sheraton then flying out 6am Tuesday, flight # 771, arriving Vegas at 7:14am Vegas time.. I don't really have a set itinerary this time but will play when/where it feel right. Plan on meeting the Moose's and Wetts at some point.
Now I know you all love to read reports of drunken craziness from there but you know that won't happen with me... or at least I won't admit it.. :) However I will try to blog anything of interest along those lines..

    OK, in my room at Four Points Sheraton next to DTW. Free internet.. woohoo..
    $99. for the night and 9 nights parking. Great deal for those early morning 6am flights... This is a real nice hotel as well.... Even my wife would like it....

    Pick up rental car at McCarron tomorrow morning as soon as I land... See the rest of you as soon as I can..

    Sahara 7pm tourney. May try MGM in the aft. Prolly Harrahs/IP/Bills in the am. Before Sahara, heading to the Rio for seafood buffet.

    Ok, was going to play the Excal donkament at 9 but it was full with 9 on the waiting list when I got there. Instead I bought in for $100. at the 1/2 gane and doubled up about 6 hands in when EP raised to $5. 5 callers including me in the cutoff with pocket 3's. Flop A,K,3. Bingo! Raiser had AK and paid me off on the turn which was a blank... Easy game...
    Then drove up to IP in the rental Jeep Compass and checked in. Found Moose and MMoose at Harrah's. MMoose was still in a tournament, (Moose donked out early) lol.. Moose took me with him to Casino Royale to teach me the finer points of craps... Kind of a crappy game... After watching Moose for a while and still having no clue I put $40. on the table and lost that in 10 min... lol... Back to poker...
    Plan is for me to pick up the Moose's at TI at 6 then up to Sahara to play there 7pm tourney.. I haven't played there in a few trips but Moose likes it there. Did get a message from Wetts that he won the 9AM Caesars tourney.. Way to go!

    I felt really scummy about this one. Well not really.

    Only 44 players for the 9am and won a huge pot with 88 on an 8 high flop with 7 left to get about 75% of the chips.

    There was a little old french lady who spoke no english and had never played before. She would basically call any two randomly and always always get there. She just limped and called.

    We got heads up and I just nut peddled. When I had it I just bet and then told her how many chips it was to call by holding up my fingers.

    LOL. I felt so bad. Then she went to play 5-5 and lost about 2K before some guy came up to her and told her not to play any more.

    A little under 900. 2nd win at Caesars this trip for 2100 total. Im going for 3 tonight. The structure they have suits my game pretty well.

    The list for the table was like 12 long. They only had 1 5/5 table running and almost all of the 1/3 players had their name to get in.

    Well Wetts has it down pat, however I plan to catch up... lol... Crashed out of the Sahara last night about 35 out of 85. By the time I went out it was justa pushfest... Lost with AA to AK suited which flushed. That's the one that crippled me, survived a while longer just push botting in late position, but luck finally ran out when I pushed 6BB with K,7 suited in the small blind to A,10... T.oday we were going to play the TI bounty at 11 but only 5 had signed up by 5 min to start time. Ended up at Flamingo playing 1/2 at the same table as Wetts for 45 min or so. Lost half my $200. buying before cashing out. Couldn't hit a flop... one of them open ended sf draw with 6,7 suited. Off to Ellis Island for dinner shortly.
    I plan on playing many more tournaments starting tomorrow after the Moose's and Wetts leave tonight. Plan on getting on a roll and breaking Vegas. Didn't want to do it while the rest are here since it would be hard on them seeing the Rocks dominate again... lol... I agree with Mooses comments about poker in general in Vegas. Very little limit and only the cheap tournies have the weak players like me..

    I am a bit of a tournament newbie but I have been to Vegas many times and never really looked into the tournaments.....when you say a "cheap tourney" how cheap is cheap haha I Definitely don't have a huge bankroll so I am just curious as to what I can expect next time I am there!

    Most are in the $50-$80 range.

    A little less in the $80-$150 range.

    Tough to find daily (non series) events over that.

    Went to Ellis Island for dinner with the Moose’s, they bought, thanks very much! Great meal, all I could eat and more. Ribs were excellent! Then to MGM, made $115. back to about even for trip so far. Big hand was my allin with QQ after I limped in EP, villain called with A,J, I held. Followed Moose’s to Excal where Moose and I played 1 / 2 for about 2 hrs, blinded away about $20. no hands of note. Drove Moose’s to airport and now turning in in preparation for some serious tournament poker…

    I need you to complete another -ev gambling mission.

    We forgot to put $5 on 27 in roulette for Prophet before we left. You will have to find a $5 min roulette game. Most of the big casinos are $10. Your first rb in mxm will be on us.

    For Roulette,

    Look for single zero with the 'en prison' rule (%1.35).
    It's much better than the ordinary single zero (%2.7) and double zero roulette(%theft).

    It's in the Bellagio, MGM, Mirage, Rio and Wyn.

    Ok, walked into Golden Nugget and put $5. each on 17 and 27. Several other players also covered my bets, guess they thought I looked lucky.. round and round, stops on 16… pfffft. So much for their reads. Sorry guys, -ev gambling is just not for me..

    I will place Wes’s and Grahams bets later today. I plan on playing the 6pm Binions, 10K chips, 20 min blinds for 3 levels then 30 min till the end. Looks quite playable.
    First few levels, 25/50, 50,/100, 100/200, 100/200/25, 200/400/25, 300/600/50, 400/800/100.

    Bit of an upset stomach today so taking it easy until then…

    Roulette is not -EV gambling, I play all the time and never lose any money ;)
