Plus a deepstack tourney on the weekend either at the Venetian or Cesars to get me primed...
  • Ashley Cheung 1b. Might change it to 1c
  • compuese in onto to Day 2 of the seniors event with 9300 in chips, and it looks like gogie busted in Day 1
  • compuese busted at the start of Day 2 and short of the money.

Well played hard luck on the A's vs K's

anyways it looks like compuese will still be in Vegas on June 26th, and blondefish arrives the 25th, while myself, crazykoby, and blackmagicz arrive on the 26th.

Does anybody want to set a time and have a little forum get together on the 26th at the I-Bar in the Rio?
  • Hey guys,

I'm heading down there on Friday and playing in:

    Saturday 1500 NL
    Monday 1500 NL
Main Event.. probably day 1d, if possible

I *might* play the 5K 6max, as well, not sure.

  • Hi, I'm planning to play the ME. I have never played a WSOP tournament before, can I just bring a 10k USD cashier's cheque and register at the cage? Is there a better way to do this?
  • According to the WSOP website:

"What forms of payment are accepted?
Cash, live Casino Chips, Cashiers Check and Wire Transfers (5 day waiting period for either) and Cash Advance through an ATM (Credit Cards may be used for purchase of cash advance)."

Note that you "have to report to a border services officer amounts equal to or greater than CAN$10,000, or its equivalent in a foreign currency that you are bringing into or taking out of Canada."

Personally, if I ever decided to buy into a $10K tournament outside Canada, I would use wire transfer to pay, then I can bring more cash without being required to report.

  • How does wiring money work? What do I need to do, and how do I collect?

    Thanks.
  • compuease had previously told me that he's flying home on the red eye the evening of the 25th. I now remember i-Bar from a sexy ad during last year's WSOP and I want to try its Microsoft Surface. Just let me know the time beforehand so I won't register for another satty.

  • Contact the WSOP and your bank where you have U$10K for all the wire transfer details you need to know

blondefish I will post a new thread leter tonight with a time for the 26th and if anything changes crazykoby and myself will find you in the sat room on the 26th to let you know
  • I don't post as often as the regulars on here but I'm heading down on the 25th with the Fish and will be playing in Event 51. I've set up a twitter account as WSOPhero for all my co-workers who contributed to my entry fee. Fell free to follow me if you wish to see how a real WSOP newb will fare in his 1st "real" tournament. I intend to update live from the floor on a regular basis. Good luck to all the other forumers, and of course especially to the Fish with whom I have a small swap.

    Stinkyfingers aka Denis Gervais
  • You can also follow me on twitter
    Steven Kerr (SkinnySteve) on Twitter

I will update as much as I can about myself and other forum members when I can
  • While most credit cards charge at least a $2.50 cash advance fee plus expensive daily interest until you pay everything off, I just found that for the TD US VISA Card, if I have a credit balance, there will be no fees at all.
So another way to pay for the Main Event would be to transfer just over U$10K to a credit card, then pay with the credit card in Las Vegas with zero interest. If I have a horrible run at the Rio and running out of cash, I can do an online transfer from my U$ chequing account to my U$ credit card, then get a cash advance for free.

  • I also setup a twitter account and PM'd my cell to Steve Kerr.

    Mike Webb (WSOP_MikeWebb) on Twitter

I am not sure how many updates I will do as my phone is a Blackberry supplied by work and they frown on us using it for personal reasons when we travel to the US due to roaming fees... I told them that I would pay for any personal use when I get back.

I'm actually playing the main event on the Sunday now, which I think is day 1C
  • Quick update. Registered for event 54 red 133 seat 4. Happened to catch Steve and blondfish at the Rio and will see them again tomorrow. The cash games are insanely juicy. Full trip report to come when I get back. Twitter is my new friend lol.
  • good luck to those competing in event #54 which starts today. I find this link a lot better for finding player results (than the main WSOP site):

    Poker Pages: Major Tournament Listings
  • Anyone make it to Day 2? the only name I recognize is Shane St. John from my Red Hot days.

Andrew Chen from Mississauga seems to be doing pretty well over the last year with a #2 place in event #51 and 3rd place finish in EPT Prague in Dec.
  • Unfortunately, only a couple of the dozens of people I know made it to Day 2. At least three of the forumers played in the Caesars Palace tournament last night.

Shane (11.800) and John Lawson (35,000) are part of the Red Hot invasion where around 20 members either won or bought a $1,500 seat to Event 54. When I wore their Team Canada black polo shirt on Sunday at Harrah's, tourists kept thinking I was a casino employee and asked me where the washroom is, where the WSOP shuttle is and where the poker room is!

  • how are the satellites going Buddy? no time for a detailed TR I guess; LV can be a little overwhelming at times, especially this time of year. I might have to join you next year just to do pf.ca live updates. Good luck w the ME and making the money.
