Fallsview Policy Change

• Hey 13.. any reason for this change? Also any news on when Satellites will start for the NAPC this year and any change in buyins and structure?

TIA
• I guess one positive is that it eliminates all the cash counting. Dealers would often spend way too much time counting all the cash at the tables during every dealer change. If it was a raked game I wouldn't care as much but for a session game it kind of mattered. Although I suspect that the main reason for the change was counterfeit bills or cash missing one too many times?

I'm not sure what this means for the game overall. If a bad player loses their buyin and now has to get up from the table to get more chips, are they always going to come back or will there be an empty seat for 2 orbits? The regulars will probably always have extra chips of larger denominations in their pockets now. Maybe they will be selling chips to each other. You might start hearing a lot of counterfeit bills stories or seeing accusations and arguments at the tables.

Hopefully 13 will provide more insight into this. I think my ideal solution would be to hire a couple of chip runners and have a cage closer to the poker room.
• I don't suppose they're going to be getting chip runners, eh?
I actually don't mind the new rule because I do find it can slow the game down at times when the dealer has to count lots of cash at the beginning of each session until they take it away and get a fill. Then we have to wait a few min for them to do the fill. It's not a huge deal but can be a little annoying if things seem off an a dealer has to count two or three times or get a soup over to check it out.
• Usually buy 100s at the cage already and change them up at the table when needed. I started doing that as soon as they limited the amount of people at the cashier issuing chips for poker....
• I think the Soups should also get chips.... that would be much better......At least they'd be paying them to do something :)
• Sorry to be hijacking the thread but what was up with last night (Friday night) 4 tables empty and lists over 70 people for each level??

It is definitely becoming more and more -ev to hit fallsview. I will be most likely switching to Seneca except when/if satellites for the WPT take place.

On a serious note who can we contact at the OLG to petition them to run that room better....

Uhhh, FOUR tables empty? Maybe later on but for most of the time I was there, there were 8 tables empty. The waitlists were 50+ people... I wouldn't doubt it was 70 by mid-evening. I got there in the afternoon waited for hours to get on a table (while watching Judge Joe Brown in that lounge next door...) and we nearly left before even bothering to play. The room should have been basically full the whole day (it is Friday, after all) and certainly by evening all of the tables should have been going.

Everyone knows what Fallsview is doing. You want us to go and dump off money in the pits while waiting to play. Some will. But overall, this is definitely a losing strategy for you because people will just stop coming. Sure, there are a lot of people still coming to the game, but there could be so many MORE people coming, believe me... (with their friends, of course). Running the place properly can not be -EV for you.

Oh, and PLEASE don't run WPT SNGs during busy times.. (Friday, Saturday nights). Pretty tilting being on a waitlist of 50 people when 2 people are playing heads up.

BTW, on a *positive* note, I was very impressed with how Jeremy dealt the game and handled the situation when there were some grade-A douchebags on the table the other night.

Just a heads-up to anyone that might be stopping by that as of April 1st patrons will no longer be able to do cash transactions at poker tables. This includes, but is not limited to, buy-ins, top-ups and rebuys. All chips must be purchased from the cage or from a regular gaming table.

Questions, comments and concerns are welcome as always.

lol
• can't we all just get along?

Something about RyanHall getting angry that sorta turns me on! ;)
• who is this kristy?lol

i for one valid 13cards posts in updates of what is going on, the casino does not give 2 !@#$ about the poker room, they go with what makes them more money 1st, they don't want you to go to the tables, they want you to hit the slots before you get to the tables:).

can't believe that many phoned in sick when layoffs are the norm now, i will come work down there 13cards.

I know most of you don't care to hear these "excuses" but if you are not willing to accept the answers to your questions, it may be best to not ask them.

Thanks just wanted to know what was happening. I appreciate the info. I was going to ask the front desk but I figured they must have heard the same question 10000 times that day and I didn't want to be "that guy"

I wasn't able to sit in for a Friday session but I was able to play Saturday night. I just put my name across the board now, considering the games all pretty much play the same way..sad but true...

13cards I really need to introduce myself one time....would be nice to put a face to the name...CHEERS :)

I think this is a great idea!

It will save a lot of time so we will get more hands in per session.

If I'm paying $12,000 per year in session fee's, anything to get more hands in is welcome.

Rather than bringing $1000 in black chips to make change at the table I may have to bring more.....

Look for the "soup" with horns and an evil pirate eyepatch. ;)

On Friday night at around 11pm there was actually over 100 names on the list for $2-$5 No Limit. The wait times on the other games were nearly as long (less names but fewer number of tables for each of them).

On Friday night, which was a beautiful day, the "last" day of March break and the "first" day of Spring, on swing shift alone (those working between 8pm and 8am) there was over 40 staff (dealers/floors/pits) that called in sick. The headcount for the floor was near max so, of course, we want to open the max number of gaming tables in the whole casino. 1st priority...SALON PRIVE. 2nd...the pits. 3rd...poker.

So, with so many patrons visiting and so many staff missing, unfortunately the poker room suffered and was not able to open all 16 tables.

On Satuday night, we were able to open 15/16 tables and the pits and salon were still not at 100% (although very close to it) and the patron count for Saturday night was even higher than on Friday...and there was still over 20 sick calls again!!

I know most of you don't care to hear these "excuses" but if you are not willing to accept the answers to your questions, it may be best to not ask them.

Helpful

Oh, I'm sorry I wasn't trying to be helpful, I was trying to emphasize how Ontario has the worst poker rooms in North America which are evidently now getting even worse . I'll try to be more clear in the future.

No shit....we have it too good out here. And I thought waiting 20 minutes to play sucked.

New Policy now in effect.

Cash has been removed from all poker table trays and cash transactions will not be permitted for buy-ins, re-buys or top-ups.

Please buy chips at the cashiers.

Thank you.

Maybe you should institute a system first pioneered in the late 1800s -- chip runners! ZOMG what a coup that would be -- offering better than sub-par service to your players!

Why cant the dealers sell chips and just drop the cash in the table slot like every other gaming table?

Fallsview is not going to pay for an extra staff member to just run chips. Sorry.

Does Fallsview know you get into flame wars with people you don't know, who post accruate negative information about your room on the internet?

Sad. Just go back to running your mickey mouse room and spare us the bullshit.

Not in some places.

Lots of places have:
chip runners
free buffet
free alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks where the server actually shows up
$1-3/hour reg player incentives
BBJP
HHJP
dealers that care about the number of hands they put out
floor managers that are men and suck it up and do their job...

It's neat!
