The only WSOP event I plan to play (unless I win a non-transferable seat to another event) will be the best-value bracelet event for only U$500 - Event 1 on May 27. Hopefully, Binion's, Venetian, Caesars, etc. will schedule their Casino Employees event around the same week, so I will only have to fly to Las Vegas once this summer.
I will play any WSOP satellites if they are non-taxable and transferable, e.g., single-table satellites and $330, $550, $1060 and $1,570 (for $40K Event 2) Mega Satellites starting on May 26. If I win a satellite, I will NOT play the 30%-taxed -EV event and will instead sell the seat/lammers. Is any other forumer going around May 26 - June 2?
Tax forms will be completed for those with winnings in excess of $5,000 net of event buy-in.
Players without a Tax Identification Number and foreign players from non-tax treaty countries are subject to up to 30% tax withholding.

My strategy is the same except I'm not playing in any events.

I'll be down during that time.....driving down May 23rd for 3 weeks.
Tentative plans right now is to go down from June 26 to July 3, and Play Events #51 and #54, and the Main Event if I can Satellite in.
With My Total Rewards Card I am getting some wicked COMPS to stay at any of the Harrahs Hotels, so this year should be pretty cheap for me since Air Miles will be paying for my flight.
If anybody notices any great flight deals during the WSOP, please post. The lowest price I have seen so far from Buffalo is U$359, and C$536 from Toronto.

I think we're much too early yet for any good deals... Even Spirit Air out of Detroit is running just over $300. US for return flights and they are typically the cheapest if you don't mind the almost 4 hr drive. Southwest out of Buffalo is still around $380. US

I checked yesterday and the "member" price will be $217 Cdn assuming current exchange rates all taxes in. Of course if the CDN dollar improves then the airfare will drop. This is direct Toronto - Las Vegas no restrictions (open dates).

Member of what? Are you saying there are flights out of Toronto return for $217 all taxes in? I really find that hard to believe.
StinkyFingers is telling me what it would cost me to fly with him to Las Vegas, which is what we plan to do on May 26 - June 2. There may be room for up to three more lucky players!
One possible option is to have a rake-free satellite with an overlay where the winners gets to play in a $1000-$1500 event of their choice and gets to fly with us with the huge discount. For example, a winner can choose to play in the U$1000 WSOP Event 4 starting on May 30 (probably 2000 chips and 30% withholding tax). Personally, I would choose the $1100 Canadian Open Poker Championship on May 16 as the event that I would play if I am one of the satellite winners (10,000 chips and tax-free).

The Fish is correct. I get special pricing thru my company and I can pass along those savings to friends who may wish to accompany me. The plan for now is to accompany the Fish to Vegas and have a go at the WSOP $1000 event. Unlike Buddy I don't mind giving up 30% for the experience of playing in the WSOP. Of course I hope to play some cash while down there as well and come out with more $$$ than I came with. My plan is to invite 2 other forumer's to join "the club" and come down with us for that airfare. Nothing has been figured out yet but I think Buddy is working on some sort of Sattelite that would include the cheap airfare as part of the package.
The lowest-priced rooms that I see is $15/night at Imperial Palace, e.g., May 25-28 and May 31 - June 4. Is anybody here interested in flying with StinkyFingers and I for ~$217 total from Toronto airport around the beginning of the WSOP? Our idea was to give the cheap flight (may also be to Monte Carlo or Calgary) to the winner of a rake-free satellite, but if there is not enough interest as usual even for a +EV satellite with an overlay, then I guess we'll go ahead and book our room dates soon.
I am now booked at The Rio from June 26 to July 1 and playing Events #51 and #54, pretty sure crazykoby is joining me.
Then I move to Ceasars when the wife arrives from July 1 to July 3.
I'll be joining you for sure. I'm flying down on the 26th as well, shacking up with you at the Rio and playing the same two events. On July 1st i'm moving over to Ceasars as well, but i'll be shacking up with my Dad. I'm going to play day 1A of the Main Event. Depending on how i do will dictate when i fly home.
Hey,
I'm new to this site...jus joined like 20 mins ago lol. I've been playing games in toronto making a living at it for about 4 months and just moved to edmonton. I'm definately goin to the WSOP but havent decided on events yet....most likely the earlier ones(cheaper hold em/stud) and then depending on how I do staying longer. I'm just gonna get a one way ticket and staying in the cheapest sleepable place. Anyone have roughly the same plan?

Welcome to Edmonton.......what games and where do you play?
I'd love to do what you're doing......but, I'm a 9-5'er.....planning on driving down May 20th....staying for 3 weeks.

Pencil in event # 5 for me.
Sorry, any event I can't play, I automatically discount for a real tourney.
My bad.
Using that logic, the Ladies event and Seniors event don't count either... unless you're either or both...

About the same for me. Will have to see me school schedule first though...
Close, but no.....Event # 2 would be.....although my bankroll tells me to fuck off when I think about that event.

I've found a few WJ flights return for $235 in the past, so its not that unbelievable.
