  • how long are the blind levels for the $500 tournaments? have these been approved already? glad to see you are no longer having the rebuy or addon tournaments.
  • Hey All

Sorry I should have mentioned that the Blind levels increase every 30 minutes. I will have all the information on the Great Blue Herons website shortly.

those are great changes. You will make Blondefish a happy camper! I would expect them to be all sell outs. Any chance of no limit cash games in the near future?
  • this is great, for sure i will make my first visit.

I will be hosting satellites for these, for those who are interest.

    let me know.

    I would be interested.
  • Now that the structure is available on the GBH website, below is my analysis.

    11-player tables, 30-minute rounds, 9.1% rake.
    $500 + $50 events: Patience Factor = 9.8, Skill Level = 5.
    Three $1000 + $100 events: Patience Factor = 17.0, Skill Level = 6.

Hopefully, GBH will have a better satellite program in 2009, including multi-table satellites and schedule satellites on the event day both before (if necessary) and after the event starts (for next month's event). There will be one or two forumers hosting rake-free satellites.

There are two "Ladies Only" tournaments. Restricted events such as these should not be included in the points standings for the end-of-the-year freeroll, just like the restricted Ladies/Seniors/Casino Employees WSOP events get zero points for the WSOP Player of the Year standings. Otherwise, pokerJAH and I need to get staked for a sex change operation by April. ;)

Conclusion: Some US tournaments offer more play, but with the 30% US withholding tax, these low-raked tax-free tournaments are a better choice for Canadians.
  • These are some great tournaments. I am very excited to play in most of these, I am actually planning to hire some staff so i can get wednesday off.

WE HAVE TO PUT SATELLITES FOR THESE TOURNAMENTS. I AM WILLING TO HOST A FEW. I GUESS WE WILL START ORGANIZING COMING MID DECEMBER.

WE GOT ALOT GOING RIGHT NOW,
WPT LEAGUE, GBH SATELLITES, OUR OWN WEEKLY $50 SNGS AND CASH AT FALLSVIEW. LOL.

As noted on the website, these tournaments will be open to men if the tournament is not full on the day of the tournament. The shoot out tournaments look interesting; these must be limited to 10-11 tables.
  • October tournament has a $1000 admin fee!

LOL - I am sure its a typo!
  • I will be making a couple of runs at these..probably spring time when the weather is decent....
  • Hello All

Yes the October 14, 2009 tournament had a typo on the website. We are not sure how it slipped through the cracks before it went to the web designer but it should have been $100 on the admin.

We should be running 11 tables of 10 players each. Blinds will be increasing every thirty minutes and the ladies tournament is open to men on the day of the tournament if there are seats not sold. The Omaha tournament will be played No Limit Freeze Out Hi Only.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone from the form this year so please feel free to say Hello and Good Luck.
  • Sorry to stick my western nose in here......but the Omaha is 'No Limit', not 'Pot Limit'.

Just want to confirm.....as I may make a trip out for one.
  • can we register for these now? over the phone?
  • Hello All

To answer the last couple of question.

Yes the Omaha tournament is No Limit Hi only and not Pot limit.

I believe our Players Club is already set up to start taking registrations for the 2009 season. Anyone interested in registering can register by phone at 1-888-294-3766 Ext#327. We except Visa or MasterCard for phone in registrations.

We will also be offering a Players points system this year for all our tournament players. Players will be required to have a Rapid Rewards card when signing out of the tournaments to recieve thier points. These points will go towards the "King Of The Cards Championship Tournament" held in December. This tournament will be a VIP tournament and will be by invitation only for the top fifty points leaders. It is a Free tournament hosted by the casino with no cost to those players that are invited to play. If you are not invited you will not be able to buy in for this tournament. So remember to get your Rapid Rewards Players card before the tournament to recieve your points.

Good Luck and I hope to see everyone their.
  • How does the points work?
Does eveyone that participates in a Tournament get points or is it just the final table that receive points?
  • Yes very player that plays gets points regardless of were you finish.
  • Are your dealers so bad that you can't play a proper PLO tourny? Horrid.
  • The four forum members playing this tournament finished well today.

We all made the final 3 tables, I made it to 16th. I will let the others tell you where they placed.
  • I finished 11th for $539 which is $11 short of getting my buyin back and got a Final Table trophy.

Blondfish was still in when I left with a good stack and 8 players remaining
  • See my mini-report in another thread. Unfortunately, I went card dead after you guys left. I survived to the final four as a short stack then when I got my best hand in the final table, AJ, I went all-in but ran up against the chip leader's AK. He went on to make a deal for the first place prize of $18,865. I requested to have most of my prize given in a cheque instead of the cash envelope, asked for a receipt, then I gave a tip for the dealers.

I got 5,778 tournament ponts, while the first player out (and players who forgot to sign out) got 1 point. More than 11 hours after the tournament started, I finally got to use our buffet coupon. The design of the trophy that we got is my favourite of all the award trophies that I have gotten.

Overall, I would highly recommend GBH's 2009 tournaments. I think the food/buffet problem will be improved for next time. Does anybody happen to want to carpool to any of GBH's tournaments?

Congrats but cardsrusa can you change the payout structure so that the last payout spot at least makes $? I would rather see 10 payout places instead with the same number of players than this. Maybe its just me.
  • Aside from the forum's tournament sharks SteveKerr, crazykoby, Dead Money and popkorn, anybody else going to tomorrow's tournament?
  • I was just about to ask the same thing.

I can confirm that crazykoby and myself will be there
  • wasn't a very good showing today from us forumers.
Deadmoney was still in with about 48 players left when I decided to make my way home.
Hopefully he posts with how he did.
  • I finished 8th, but the sweetest money was the last longer with crazyboy!
  • nice finish.
ya that last longer bet with crazykoby must have ben sweet since you put him out lol
