Napc 2008

So I went to watch my first big poker tourney today at Fallsview and was blown away by the whole thing. Just walking into the room was such a great feeling and being able to meet some amazing players was more then I could of hoped for.
I was able to meet and talk with Gavin Smith, an amazing guy who really was the only one talking with anyone today. I also saw Eric Seidel, but didn't really have the opportunity to talk to him except shake hands. I was shocked how completley dead the spectating viewing was....mind you there were still hundreds of players playing 1240s upstairs, at about 6pm I saw 8 tables going and over 80 names on the list, same deal when I left at 10pm. Anyways it was a great experience just to see it and good luck to those of you playing tomorrow/sunday.
There were 125 people played Friday and they played down to I think 85ish? but I could be way off, I kind of forgot that number. They also played untill about 9:15, I think it ended up being 10 minutes left in level 5? Correct me if I'm wrong...anyway it was a lot of fun to watch and play some cash upstairs, not too bad of a wait for 5-10 at all, and cool to be able to see some action downstairs.

Anyways good luck all, I'll be heading down again sat/sun and next week to cheer on fellow forumers!!

  • Think I'm heading down tomorrow to play...
  • I made it to Day 2, which starts at noon on Thanksgiving Monday. Forumer "Fallsview", who was the tournament director in all the previous WPT Fallsview events, also played on Friday. The experience was fantastic, but unfortunately, I don't know if I'll have time to post a detailed trip report. Dead Money is playing on Saturday. I don't know when SirWatts, Choron, crazykoby (anybody else?) are playing.

  • Unfucking-believeable...bustout on this super gay hand: last hand of 200-400 50A lvl 4- Versus Darus Suharto of the November Nine:

He opens in EP to 1200...folds to me in BB I look at two red jacks and 3bet to 3200...he calls and the flops peels AKJ rainbow...I check he bets 2500 and i make it 6850 and he calls after taking like 30 seconds...The turn comes an offsuit 4 so that board now reads a rainbow...I bet out 8800 and he takes 2 min and calls...The river obviously comes the fucking T/ten and I stare at it for a second pondering whether he could have have had a pair with a gutshot unless it was with AQ...I would also add that we were on very good terms over the course of the day playing very few pots against each other and chatting on breaks so I didn't think he would be out to fuck me over so hard you know? Anyway so I only have 13k left on the river and I decided to be greedy and go for value betting 7k playing 6k behind...he takes 10 seconds and ships it...I end up calling bc i couldn't see him chasing a gutshot for that much of a cost...Anyway he instantly showed me KQo...Fucking sick...
  • That is sick. GL to Watts, buddy, DM and other forumers still playin'.

wow that is insanely fucking sick............
  • Tough one Glen... sorry to hear.

Good luck to the rest still alive!
  • any names we should look for from the forum?
  • Just left Fallsview. Michael Watson has a pretty tough table draw with Gavin Smith to his left and Barry Greenstein 2 seats to his right. (or you could say they have a tough draw with Sir Watts at the table!) Either way lots of recognizable pros. And quite a few trophy wives/gf's railbirding...

and as for the poker room, it was pretty empty actually even thought the waiting list were very long ie 5-6 empty tables.
  • I am pretty sure blondfish just busted out

My buddy Greg or crazykoby is still in with about 90k in chips

as for other forumers that probably won't get mentioned on worldpokertour.com I am not sure about
  • I am out.

I had a very eventful day.

first table is table 30, first to break. I am in seat 1 Barry Greenstein in seat 5, huge stack in seat 3, huge stack in seat 8, Bill Gazes in seat 10.

We only played for 30 min before we broke. Moved to table 8, Chow Giang (not sure how to spell it) in seat 4, me in 7.

Didn't get a hand to play for the first orbit. On the second orbit, (400/600) on the button I get Ac, 10c on the button. Folded to me, I raise to 2200. BB defends with a raise to 8K.....I call. Flop comes AK4 rainbow. He bets 10K, and I move in. He calls pretty quickly. He has A,3. Turn is a 3, river a K....doged one there.

I now have 72K. One orbit later the short stack to my left has 24K makes it 2200. I have KK. I raise to 4400. Back to him and he pushes. I call and he flops a strait! Back to where I started.

Next blind level, a aggressive player raises under the gun to 2600. I am in middle position with QQ and call. BB (another active player) makes it 10K. The way he looked at his cards and pushed it, I thought AK. UTG thinks for a while and moves in to isolate. I didn't think very long as I believed he had AK also.

BB also called as he was pot committed. AK vs AQ vs QQ, but I had a bad feeling.

Flop came with a K and I go home. For the three hours I played, there were no uncontested pots at my second table. Very wild, but good play.

Need to work on other portions of my game.

Like how not to get in ahead? lol... Good effort Rob, can't do much more than keep getting it in like you're doing..
  • crazykoby is going to Day 3 with about 63k in chips
  • Out Day 2 :( I ran AA into a set. AA cracked twice in the tourney grr. Frustrating.
