2+2 Book Offer Recommendations
I am finally getting around to doing the 2+2 book offer and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for the three free books from section B. I will likely get The Mathematics of Poker (God knows I need it ) but not sure about which other two books are decent. I prefer no limit or poker theory books. Any books to stay away from?

apparently, you only need to play one raked hand or tournament on Everest to qualify for the book offer, and deposit a minimum of $50US. Seems like a sweet deal. So I guess I am not the only one that has missed this great offer.
1 rake hand for 5 books
i'll do that promotion too.
on 2+2 there is book review section. you can find review on which book to avoid.
thanks for the recommendations.
Can anyone confirm my understanding of this offer of only needing to play one raked hand or one SnG, with minimum $50 deposit.
very nice synopsis; you might want to save a couple chips for later tonight in case you want one of those $1.25 waters. btw, I now only fold aces on the flop after my continuation bet is raised
- Played one raked cash game hand and later chose my five free books after my eligiblity was confirmed. I received the following books promptly in time before my WSOP trip: Harrington on Cash Games Vol. 2, Theory of Poker; Poker Essays, volumes 1-3.
- Won my first three freeroll (non-NLHE) SNGs, even though anybody who has paid attention at all the Royal Cups knows that I am a :fish: at Limit HE and Pot Limit Omaha. However, I stopped playing these +EV freerolls since as a $2/5 NL live player, I don't see the point of spending that much time trying to win 5¢-15¢.
- Won most of my cash games, but I also couldn't see the point of playing micro limits online when it's easier to win more money at any live game. My $50 deposit is currently up more than 50%, but I can win more than that in one pot in any B&M cardroom.
- Luckily for me, Everest turned out to paradoxically be the sponsoring site for the WSOP, even though they cannot have any US players. They had a members-only hospitality lounge in the WSOP area, where they had free food, drinks, video games, and best of all, free Internet PCs which I made full use of whenever I was at the Rio.
- Of the five party invitations I managed to get for Las Vegas, Everest hosted the "Most Exclusive Party" at the Pure nightclub in Caesars Palace. My roommate wasn't interested in going to any party, so I gave an extra ticket to westside8 and we celebrated the Fourth of July with an open bar, free exotic food, sexy waitresses unlike the ones in the poker room, live music, and a great view of one of only two fireworks shows in Las Vegas that night. The fireworks was supposed to start at 9:30 but unfortunately for me, it started earlier before I could rejoin westside8 at Pure.
To pokerJAH, we could borrow each other's books just like I do with pkrfce9. I can lend you The Mathematics of Poker (which I do NOT recommend for you to start with) along with my many other great books if you get the following books that I don't have:
- Professional No Limit Hold'em (great cash game book for 1/2 players)
- Sit and Go Strategy (how to become a satellite king)
- Section "B" books: any three poker books except the Poker Essays volumes which you can borrow from me.
It currently doesn't make sense for me to go to Georgetown, but I'll probably see you and a couple of otherl forumers at the other place tonight.
I've read most of the books in that group B.
My highest recommendation is:
"Gambling Theory and other Topics"
It teaches you how to think about .... gambling....
Mathematics of Poker is *not* light reading. I'm a Computer Science/Math geek and it took me longer to complete reading than the Harrington on Hold'em books. Think reading a Vector Calculus textbook. That said, it's pivotal reading if you want an in depth math based understanding of poker. Read Theory of Poker before you read this one.
Getting Started in Hold'em is the best intro book to Hold'em, it's way better than Low Limit Hold'em.
I liked the Poker Essays Vol 1-3 they may be a little dated by now but they are worth reading.
I would highly recommend the Everest deal to anyone who is looking to add five books to their poker library for a $50US deposit and the need to only play one raked hand on the site (at any level)!
fully disagree; you deposit $50US, play one raked hand at $0.05/$0.10 and then request your money back. It cost you $0.10 (at most) to get five free books delivered to your home for free.
Yeah but i wouldn't play 5/10 cents since im a winning 5$/10$ nl player. But if you have no roll or are a newbie then i guess its fine. 2+2 books suck generally imo. Read quite a few, you would learn 10x more from most of the good poker training sites.
It's one hand for 5 books, shooter. or do you average +$200 for every hand of $5/$10 you play?
Not sure why you are commenting on this offer in the first place if you have no interest in 2+2 books anyways. Glad to hear you have a $5/$10 roll. I would think most players would be interested in this basically free offer for five excellent poker books, irregardless of their bankroll.
So you became a winning player from using a good poker training site. Please, don't make me laugh.
Gambling Theory and Other Topics
Poker Essays, Volume III
Harrington on Cash Games, Vol I
Harrington on Cash Games, Vol II
The Mathematics of Poker
please tell me how to get it, which website offering this. how it all works?
Im interested.

You need to sign up for one of the poker rooms through their link. Then you must buy $50 in chips and reach a certain level of play. One of the rooms, Everest Poker, only requires that you play one raked hand. You wait until the site confirms with 2+2 that you have played. They then let you pick out 5 books sent to you free of any charge including shipping.
As pokerJAH said, the most difficult part will be finding the time to properly read the books. I started reading The Mathematics of Poker when it was hot off the press two years ago, but it may take another two years to finish it! My coaching advice to polerJAH is to wait until the latest 2+2 book Heads-Up No-Limit Hold 'em by Collin Moshman becomes available before ordering another five books.
