Steve Paul-Ambrose Eliminated After recently copping a bad beat to lose a chunk of his stack, Steve Paul-Ambrose has just run pocket jacks into an opponent's pocket queens with all the chips going in preflop. The board bricked out and, just like that, Ambrose is out the door.
Did a quick sweep of the chip counts from each day and we're down to two people unaccounted for; Richard Brodie and Michael Binger. They're not on the list for the Day1a-c chip counts, so they're either on 1D or didn't play.
It'll be interesting to see if they do anything to balance the Day 2's. (Because 2B is going to easily be double the size of 2A if the trends continue)
On a board reading the big blind checked, Chris Ferguson bet 2,000, Zeav Malichie called on the button and the big blind folded. The river was the . Ferguson moved all in for 3,000 and Malichie called.
Ferguson showed for a set, but Malichie had flopped the nut flush with . Ferguson was eliminated, while Malichie is up to 38,000.
Layne Flack raised to 1,350 from early position. Christian Oman called from middle position and the flop came down . Flack checked and Oman bet 1,800. Flack raised all in and Oman quickly called.
Flack held but was way behind Oman's . The turn was the and the river the .
Flack was eliminated from the tournament and stopped to give a quick interview on his way out.
I believe we're now up to date with the complete Day 1 results. I've marked Richard Broadie as (DNP), so if anyone sees different, please let me know.
I've also marked everyone that has advanced with the Day 2 heat that they should be playing on, though it will be interesting to see if things stay as they currently are.. (I'm guessing they have to?)
We currently have a 4-way tie for first with 3 players left. Two of us are down to 2 runners, while Moose has his team's life on the line with John Juanda.
For me, I've got one big stack and one short stack left. So, SirWatts!! Make 9.1 million so that I can win my $70 bet!!
There will be no more bracelets for Erick Lindgren this year. He was taken out of the Main Event on back-to-back hands by Brian Brubaker.
On the first hand, both players got all of the chips in the middle preflop, Brubaker holding against Lindgren's . Neither player improved, but Lindgren had Brubaker covered and retained a few chips.
On the very next hand, Lindgren looked down at and pushed his last few chips into the middle. Brubaker was the only caller and was ahead against with . The board ran out ten-high to send Lindgren to the rail. He departed the Amazon Room through the side exit, by the press box.
Preflop, Michael Binger raised to 2,500 and was called by Zachary Gregg and another player.
On a flop of {A-?} {Q-?} {6-?} , Binger bet out 6,000 and only Gregg called.
When the turn fell an {A-?}, Binger checked and then Gregg moved all in. Binger called and showed {A-?} {K-?} for a set of aces. Gregg showed {6-?} {6-?} for sixes full. The river fell a blank to both players and Binger was eliminated.
After the hand, Gregg moved up to 86,000 in chips.
Jason House raised to 3,000 from middle position and then Tony Dunst shoved all in for 104,000. It folded back to House and he made the call.
House has {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} and Dunst has {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds}. The board ran out {K-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Spades}, giving House a set. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and then the river the {2-Spades}. It did give Dunst his flush, but House filled up to eliminate Dunst.
And a sick little hand it was. The player under the gun raised to 3,000 and three other players called before it got to Hachem in the big blind. He made the call and the five players saw a flop. Hachem moved in for his last 13,000, the original raiser called, and another player shoved for his last 29,400. The original raiser called and his was pitted against Hachem's flush draw with and the other player's....
And it was one good turn for that player as the spiked to give him a set and the lead. With the crowd gathered close around the table calling for a club, the river brought the instead, and Hachem was eliminated. Had the player with queens reraised before the flop, Hachem doesn't call and doesn't go broke. But he didn't, and Joe did. And so the Main Event is over for the 2005 World Champion.

Nam Le Eliminated
Nam Le moved all in against another player and was called. Le had against . Neither hand improved and Le's day is over.
The players were befuddled as to why this happened as Le apparently had 20 big blinds left in his stack.
