Has anybody played any super satellites or single table satellites at the WSOP this summer or previous years? Since I was planning to play a lot of satellites for the WPT Fallsview event, I had only planned to play the best-value Skill Level 6 tournaments in Las Vegas without trying to satellite into the various main events, but with the Fallsview satellites suspended indefinitely and since there hasn't been a single super satellite at Casino Brantford this year compared to the 100+ last year, I'm now getting the itch to play satellites. Are the satellites during WSOP time not much different from Fallsview and Brantford in terms of level of play, i.e., if I think I have a +EV edge in satellites in Ontario casinos, then would I have a similar +EV edge in Las Vegas?

I played one single table satellite while in Vegas at RIO, $175, 1,000 in chips, 15 minute blinds, 25/50, 50/100, 75/150, 100/200. Play was pretty weak, but with only 1000 in chips a bit of a crap shoot. Some people I talked with were more impressed with the higher limit satellites. I also heard typically there was a chop between 1st and 2nd and possibly 3rd getting money back. I also was told there was a pretty good value multi-table satellite every evening but I didn't play so it's only hearsay.
must be some discussion on 2+2 regarding the best WSOP satellites; you might need to bring your laptop on the trip Buddy to analysis all the different satellite options. I would think there are lots to choose from this close to the main event.
Matt's being too tough on himself. Of course, in a newspaper article, you can't go into as much detail as we normally would, but the last hand makes it sound like he pushed pre-flop with 69o, which wasn't the case.
Unfortunately, I haven't had a laptop for years. I may be totally offline while I'm in Las Vegas, so I can't even read the forum and I'll be playing with only half a brain. :-[

I've researched it, & unless you bring a laptop, Las Vegas seems to be pretty backward in terms of public Internet terminals compared to the GTA, just like when I travelled to other US tourist destinations like Florida and Hawaii. I read that there were only one or two Internet cafes on the Strip, so I'll find out the hard way if they are still open. If any Vegas hotel has an Internet terminal available in your room like some hotel chains, I would probably stay in that hotel next time.

I'll have a laptop with me on the trip, just not sure whether or not I'll leave the house with it but if you really need it we can arrange for something.

errrr, most of the strip hotels have internet cafes, including the IP. You don't have to have your laptop although the cafes are a little pricey.
None of the Vegas veterans I asked knew of any Internet PCs or cafes in their Strip hotels. Here are the few ones that I have found out myself: IP's Cyber Cafe at Betty's Dinner, Cyber Stop Internet Cafe at Hawaiian Marketplace, and Fedex Kinko's near the Convention Centre.
Some hotels have a Business Centre where there MIGHT be a PC with Internet access but have limited hours, including the one on the fourth floor of IP's Pagoda Tower which is only open on weekdays 8 AM - 4 PM, which are the times I'll be out playing a tournament or cash game. There are also some Internet kiosks where you probably have to keep putting money in to use it. The cost is generally around $12/hour, so I need to have a win rate of at least six big blinds per hour at the cash game I'm playing.
Down the strip by where Fatburger used to be, there was an public internet cafe in there, it may have since been turfed. I do recall seeing several kiosks in the various hotels so you shouldn't have any issues.
I believe that there is still a Fatburger at 3763 Las Vegas Boulevard S. by the MGM Grand. It could be the same Internet cafe that I listed at the Hawaiian Marketplace at 3743 Las Vegas Boulevard, which is inside the Gift Shop. Anyway, thanks for the replies. Hopefully, I'll be too busy playing to ever want to access the Net, but it's good to know the options now before I leave.

I think maybe they never left the poker rooms? You are right though, the Kiosks are quite expensive, Why don't you buy a laptop with all your winnings? In case you haven't found it, here is a fairly comprehensive list of Kiosks and Internet cafes in Vegas..
Why don't you buy a laptop with all your winnings?
What winnings?? My micro bankroll all went to DrLarry and the Milton rocks in those evil rake-free Milton home games!
Besides, if I'm going to waste money for a one-time use, I might as well use it on hookers and blow. Now where are those $1,000 denomination tournament chips I pocketed....
Anyone up for some drinks on July 5th at the Fontana Bar at the Bellagio?
I'm getting in July 1 at around 11pm but will probably be pretty awake, so I can meet up for some drinks or something as well after dropping off my luggage wherever I end up staying for the first night.

If anyone from the forum is around, send me a PM with a way to contact you or something and we can grab a late drink or something sometime. We can do a informal forum meetup as well if we can find a way to squeeze it between playing donkaments
All packed and ready to go. Crashing at a friend's tonight and heading to Buffalo for a bit of shopping tomorrow morning before my flight in the afternoon...here goes nothing!
main event starts tomorrow baby! Good luck to those playing in day 1a. Nice to see the scarfed wonder win a tournament. You may remember him from last year's main event where he was the chip leader for a large part of the tournament:
Wes on actyper's account. Quick update, just busted from my first Caesar's Megastack with a set vs. villain's TP with OESD. Saw Buddy at Caesar's and will probably see him there tomorrow. Sweated Watts for a bit last night in his second round of the shootout - also watched the $1500 HORSE FT with Hellmuth, the rail was about 3-4 deep. More details should be on my blog later today or something.

Yeah, it's tough, but he did us proud.
