I'm guessing you need a current valid casino employee identification in order to play? I'm assuming one thats expired probably won't be accepted right?
And I'm now booked for flying out July 2nd and returning sometime around July 9th/10th assuming I don't play ME and go deep
Yes, from what I have been able to find out, you need a valid gaming license. The dealer from the GTA who made it to the final table of the WSOP Casino Employees Event presented her gaming license when she collected the prize money. Here is the information for the five Casino Employee Events in Las Vegas this summer that I know of:
- WSOP Event 55, July 7-8, $500: Patience Factor = 11.2; vigorish = 10%, i.e., $50 of each player's $500 cost does not go to the prize pool.
- Binion's Second Annual Poker Classic, May 28 & July 5, $110: PF = 10.1; vig = 21%.
- Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza II, May 29, $340: PF = 15; vig = 15%.
- Orleans Open, July 16, $500.

Ok I lied...flying out on July 1st now so I can make it in time for Bluff's Party @ Sapphire on July 2nd. Here is my tentative Plan so far assuming I don't satellite into the ME.
Probably will be staying with Watts but will confirm when he gets into Vegas next week.
July 1 - Getting in pretty late..close to midnight I think...
July 2 - 12pm CP Megastack $200+$25+$10, 9pm Bluff's Magazine Party @ Sapphire (shuttle @ Rio)
July 3 - 12pm Venetian Deep Stack $540+$10, 7pm Golden Nugget 2p2 meet up
July 4 - 12pm CP Megastack $300+$30+10, WSOP Gaming Life Expo @ The Rio
July 5 - 12pm CP Megastack $300+$30+10, UFC 86(?)
July 6 -
July 7 - 12pm Venetian Deep Stack $330+10
July 8 - 9pm Airport for departure
Will be hitting up usual poker rooms around Vegas during the time as well - MGM Grand, Wynn, CP, Venetian, Bellagio, maybe others if I get a chance. Probably will try to squeeze in a show or two if I can...and will definitely be up for a drink/dinner with guys from the forum.
I am determined to come home broke due to playing in tournaments that are way beyong my bankroll...or become the next Waterloo-wonder. The former being more likely IMO
Just remember that when you win the ME to mention how's it was ALMOST as prestigious as winning a Bristol.
Now that's a stretch, no way it's as prestigious as a Bristol, maybe a few more $$$'s but not more prestigious and definitely not as tough.... Yeh good luck all.... <jealous as sin>
$10,500 tournament fee
$4,000 hotel
$2,000 travel and spending money
$1,000 entry fees for other poker events
If you want the $2,000 travel money put into your account, you should contact support asap. They will send you a contract that you should sign and send back.
You will have to book your flights yourself.
Your room is booked in the Mandalay Bay hotel from june 30 to july 17. Breakfast is included.
You will be wined and dined and pampered, but hardly anything is known about when and how exactly.
I posted a comment on your blog a few days ago to play the ongame wsop sats!

Yeah I saw...I didn't think I was going to play yesterday due to father's day so didn't bother shipping any money to Poker Room, but ended up playing and donking out in spectacular fashion on Stars and Tilt. I think I'm going to look into playing one this upcoming week....might as well.
Congrats. What other events do you plan to participate in during your 18-day stay? See the detailed itineraries that westside8 and I posted if you need ideas.
The Main Event buy-in is $9400 + $600. What some unscrupulous cardrooms do is overstate the value of the non-cash prizes, then the winner actually gets less and the cardroom greedily keeps the big difference from the players' prize pool. For example, beware of any clubs promoting a WSOP satellite where the winner does not have the option of making his own travel arrangements and getting 100% of the cash that was reserved for first place; what some clubs do is only give $10,000 cash and keep the rest of the players' money that was allocated for hotel/travel expenses as extra profit on top of the already high rake. Hopefully, actyper will get the full U$21,200 value that Pokerroom promised.
Yeah hopefully I'll get a full breakdown from them soon. $3700 was already put in my account for the 2nd place. I want to negotiate down the $4k hotel, thats way overstated. I thought that extra $500 on the buyin was weird as well.
If I get knocked out early I won't be staying the entire way through. I guess theres a lot of options, will have to decide. Will prob fly down the night of the 1st, but not confirmed yet.
westside8, note that the Mega and Deep Stack events are two-day events, and play is stopped on the first day when the Final Table is reached or at 2 AM. For example, if you are still playing the July 7 event at 2 AM, Venetian will stop play and it won't resume until 4 PM and you will probably miss your flight home. I had to cancel my plans to play multi-day events on the tail end of my trip since I have to be in the airport before 2 PM which is when play resumes at the Mega Stack. I am also thinking of skipping one of the noon events because I want to be somewhere else later that day so I don't really want to be playing up to 2 AM.
After my final WSOP event, I plan to play the Binion's nightly $125 tournament, which is the best value after the noon events.
Here is my tentative Plan so far assuming I don't satellite into the ME.

:
July 6 -
July 7 - 12pm Venetian Deep Stack $330+10
July 8 - 9pm Airport for departure

Thanks for the heads up. I am not overly concerned with a second day as I am flexible with my departure day/time. If I make a FT and manage to play that late - I'm sure the money I make can cover for the cancelled and rebooking of another flight.
A good friend of mine, Matt Wood, is currently 5th in chips in Event 39.
2,720 started, 102 remain.
Matt used to play semi-regularly at Brantford, but has been playing almost exclusively online for the last year or so.
Matt's a Whitby native, currently residing in Dundas.

Matt has made the Final Table!
Here is the chip count ...
Thom Werthmann 1,600,000
Curtis Early 1,225,000
Thanhdat Tran 1,225,000
David Woo 1,090,000
Matthew Wood 675,000
Habib Khanis 645,000
Eric Beren 640,000
James Paras 535,000
Mike Glasser 495,000
I've had no problems so far (hoping not to jinx myself).
That said, I've been talking to a Brantford regular, who has had problems with his stream, because of a bad storm in his area. That may be an issue, depending where you're watching from.

Edit: Scheduling
While you're gone would you mind if I borrowed your place to hold Bristol Street events?
With 4000 sq.ft. I could easily bump the max to a few hundred people.
Good luck to everyone going down! Just remember that when you win the ME to mention how's it was ALMOST as prestigious as winning a Bristol.
You won a $17,500 package including:
$10,500 tournament fee
