Bankroll Building

  • wow, mad props - do you ever cash out, or is your online roll your online roll?

I'd have gone on vacation off those winnings :)
  • Thanks, but it's not too difficult. I hate to admit it, but most of the roll is from bonuses and rakeback, although I am definitely a winning player. You gotta get good bonuses and rakeback deals. I also recommend doing some casino bonuses.

I haven't cashed out, but will start taking some soon. I find it helps to have a (relatively) big roll behind me. It's true what they say about bankroll management. I find I play with more confidence and I don't panic when I drop $300 over a couple sessions.
  • I had a pretty good day yesterday. Played 5 SNG's on stars (4 x 1+.20 and 1 x 5 + .5) cashed in all but no 1st places finishes. Also, took 2nd in 1 + .20 on chan and 2nd our CPF League game #10 (or is it 11??).

    Day 1 (March 1): 100%
    Day 33 (April 2): 301%
    Day 38 (April 7): 338%
    Day 40 (April 9): 395%
  • I didn't play much this weekend. 1st in a couple of shorthanded 1+.20 SnGs on Chan as well as 3rd in the red orange freeroll.

    ...
    Day 38 (April 7): 338%
    Day 40 (April 9): 395%
    Day 44 (April 13): 446%
  • Had a few roller coaster days, but still moving up. I'm in the process of making my move to the $5+.50 on Stars and $5+.50 (Short-handed) on Chan. Besides the BR justification, how do you know when you're truly ready to move up?

    ...
    Day 44 (April 13): 446%
    Day 46 (April 15): 418%
    Day 47 (April 16): 484%
  • If you play more than 1 sng at a time, mix it up. open up 1 $5 one and 1 $1 one, or whatever mixture you choose.
  • The weather was way too nice this weekend to be inside playing, but I did manage to get in 3 SnGs on Friday night before crashing early. Won all 3

    ...
    Day 46 (April 15): 418%
    Day 47 (April 16): 484%
    Day 51 (April 20): 517%
  • geez you're on fire !
  • Congrats. Do you play mostly online SNGs now, with no more live MTTs or cash games?

    I feel your pain ! :(

Man if I go back to day 1 on Stars when I knew pretty much nada about poker...
That was in 2001 I put 50$ on Stars join the highest possible NL table I can find with my roll... I get a crazy mofo hand and triple up in the first 20 minutes I'm like WTF me > poker.

From then well... I'm prolly close to your -500% lvl haha.

(I did get a bunch of 300-400 wins in tournaments but I put it on my CC card right away only to have to deposit back later on).

Latetly though it's been way more stable since my play has improved greatly sadly I feel I'm more proned to tilt than I used to be.. weird.

    So .. on topic...

I'm going to start a brand new pokah rollz0r (make it look serious).

    so ...

    April 4th - 100% (100$)

    Future - ?

    A friendly advise
1)Bankroll management is not for everybody
so, I do not reccomand you following it.
set a stop loss, and just have fun.
2)self honesty is important to improve your game.

Well actually when I've been following it I actually had decent success... thing is I like to gamble a little wee bit to much and play over my limits and well.. yeah bad things happens.

With that last 100$ I'm trying very hard to be as disciplined as I possibly can and even though I've had a few bad streak I've been able to play alot longer than I usually does with a 100$ deposit...

    Anyways... :)

Thanks. Yeah, mostly online SnG's. I'll play the odd online MTT here and there, but I haven't touched a cash game in about 6 or 7 weeks and don't plan to.
  • I took a bit of a hit over the past couple of days (especially on Chan), but nothing too bad... yet!

    ...
    Day 47 (April 16): 484%
    Day 51 (April 20): 517%
    Day 54 (April 23): 507%
  • My rough spot continued for a few days, but I battled back and am on another upswing. I made the move up to the PS $3.25 6 seat SnGs and am very comfortable, so far.

    ...
    Day 51 (April 20): 517%
    Day 54 (April 23): 507%
    Day 60 (April 28): 484%
    Day 62 (April 30): 556%
    Day 67 (May 05): 706%
  • I think I'm on serious TILT. I just can't seem to win anymore. I've gone through about 25% of my total bankroll in the last week. This feels brutal.... What do I do?

    ...
    Day 67 (May 05): 706%
    Day 80 (May 18): 890%
    Day 89 (May 27): 683%
  • Looks like the normal rollercoaster ride of variance to me. It's incredible that you multiplied your bankroll to seven times in less than two months. Since I started playing at Fallsview Casino, I have had very rare losing sessions at 5/5 and I have a high hourly win rate at 2/5. Just because I have barely broke even in my last three sessions there won't make me go on tilt or stop me from going there this Sunday.

I hope that you don't remain on tilt so you can keep making correct poker decisions that got you to 683% in the first place. :)

Do you think it's best to keep at it until things turn around or is it better to just take a break from playing until my confidence rebounds?
