They covered that later in the day, advanced theory.... :)
  • What? Sucking out? Or strip joints? Or is it a two for one sort of thingy? Just saying . . .
  • Here is the hand from the UB freeroll with myself and 13 cards

    Blinds are 1200-600 with a 125 ante.

13 cards raises to 3600 (approx). His stack it about 16000

I'm in the BB, and I smooth call. My stack 17000.

    Flop comes 8s-6c-4s.

I check, 13 cards bets about 1/2 the pot. 3600.

    I check raise him all-in.

    He calls and shows As-5d.

    How do you call there?
  • Just saw 13Cards call BigChrisL's all in for huge amount with a gutshot only on the flop and hit it on the turn... Now I remember why I quit playing on UB.... I sure don't understand the call tho....

Another solid call, the tournament was full of donk calls.
  • The MC is Alex Outhread. He used to work for the WPT as an assistant, and then he somehow weaseled his way into MCing the WPT boot camps. They gassed him because he sucked.

My raise pre-flop was more than 3600. Not once in that tourney did I open raise for 3X the BB.

How do I call? Easy. I was no longer interested in playing; I actually was already late getting ready for work. Next time, I promise only to call with my signature hand of 5-7 offsuit and have you virtually drawing dead.... would that be better for you? If you say yes, reconsider your thinking; I am pretty sure you want my call in that spot with the A-5.

LOL...I love the "I don't care" after the "look at me in 9th place."

If you didn't care why did you raise pre-flop, why did you bet the flop, why weren't you sitting out?

I just want to know. I've had many people make bad calls against me while playing poker but now I actually can talk to one to see how they can justify it.
    ;)

    ;)

Did you want me to call in that spot or not?
  • did anyone think there was anything of value at this thing. It seemed to me that KrazyKanuck knew what he was about and the little that Debo said seemed valuable. They should have been given more time to speak.

It doesn't matter if I want a call or not because that is not the point.

I was wondering how could you justify to yourself a call in that situation.

    "Flop comes 8s-6c-4s.

Obviously you can't so you are trying to move away from the original question by saying things like "I was no longer interested in playing".

No problem I understand if you don't have an answer to my question. Congratulations on finishing in the top 9.
  • why do you question my play when you can do nothing about my play?

would it not be better to question your own play so you can improve on it?

If I did not suckout, you would not post about this hand, true?

So, if the suckout is the issue, I ask again, do you want me to call in that spot?
  • ok, so i have changed my opinion, going to this thing was +++++++++++EV since I had to deposit $200 into UB. Between some BJ and pwning at HU NL my account is sitting at slightly over $3.5k. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I heart UB!

If you did not suck out I would still be asking the same question of "A-5 how can you call an all-in with that?"

I ask questions all the time to myself or fellow poker players on how people can make certain calls like that.

On a poker forum I am trying to improve my play and part of that is asking questions about why people made certain plays.

Regardless of what I had I just wondering the thought process that made you call.

Saying you weren't interested or didn't care is a cop out.

Did you have your luckbox with you at the time? I'm also confused about 13cards play, maybe he had diarreah and he had to really go...lol!
  • Thomas Wahlroos says to me in a tournament we played in last year: " Ah, let's gamble...I call".
Playing smart makes you money in the long run, but being lucky lets you win tournaments. Look at the suck-out session Shawn Rice put us through...whatever he was reading was dead wrong most of the time, then he got lucky...remember all the groaning that went on?
  • EMAIL REPLY FROM ULTIMATEBET:

    {removed},

Thanks for writing in with your concerns. I would like to extend 2 free tickets to either our Montreal or Ottawa shows this weekend, accompanied with gas money up to $100 (put into your UB account).

I would like you to see this seminar from Annie's Duke point of view as I am certain you will leave educated and satisfied.

Please let me know what works for you and I will accomodate accordingly.

    Steve

    My response:
    Steve,

I do appreciate the offer of two free tickets to either Ottawa or Montreal. However, I live in Niagara Falls and with a 2 year old daughter, it will be impossible for me to attend.

I must stand by my request for a full refund of $299 (which can be placed into my UB account). Please note, rather than take two tickets from you, get a $100 deposit and then not go to either Ottawa or Montreal, I have chosen to be honest and upfront and decline your offer.

Please let me know if/when I can expect my refund.

    Cheers!

  • EMAIL SENT TO UB

    Dear Steve...

Although I was pleased to read your quick response to my original email, it has now been two weeks since your last correspondence; this is not satisfactory.

I must reiterate my concern for the product you offered, the UB Cross Canada Tour, and firmly request a full refund of $299 be sent to me by cheque or deposited into my UB account.

I will expect a timely response to this email.

    Sincerely,
    {Removed}
