  • I'm playing in a private 'live' tournament tonight. Winner should take about 5K, wish me luck!!!
BUBBLE. :banghead: I shoulda stayed at home and played the pokerforum tourney instead... ;)
  • Hey All_Aces, I watched you fight and claw at the final table last night. That was no small feat fighting back from 1500 up to 12000.....you were hands down the best player at that tourney last night. Nothing you can do when the cards aren't coming.... or your two pair A10 gets cracked on the river!! Although I think we've all felt that sting of going out in 6th, when top 5 pay!! :banghead:
    There's always next week.....
  • Thanks dude, it was a lot of fun and I'm sure I'll be back again soon. IIRC, you won it last week, so I expect you'll be back again soon, too... ;)

    Cheers,

  • Actually, I don't know if you'll see me out next week. I actually decided after playing in the 10/20 side game.......actually I should call it the 10/20 bingo night....that I am taking a break from the game of poker. What I would like to know, is where can one find some REAL poker games, where the players actually place some value on the chips they're putting in the middle!!?? You can only get your pocket AA's cracked by J7 off so many times, before you decide it's time to take a break. (All_Aces is probably laughing his ass off right now, given that I was the one that 3x's raised him with 52h pre-flop a couple weeks ago......sorry Aces!) Between online and 'live' games, I've been playing 5 to 7 nights a week and it's proved draining both mentally and financially! So I have decided to play in one final large buy-in tournament tomorrow night, and then win or lose, hang up the poker chips until the new year. I'll catch up on my poker reading, top up the poker bank roll, and hopefully come back with a vengeance. So for those of you still slugging it out in the trenches in the months to come, may all your hands be AcesFull.

    Cheers!
  • Can I take your seat? I like playing with players who hate money.

Did you speak to Ari last night? That sounds like the type of game you're looking for....

Yes, I did see a bit of hypocrisy in that statement. ;) Actually, I liked your 3-bet with 25 on the button. It was folded to me in the cut-off, and I raised to steal. You read that correctly, and that's the important thing.

Financially? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you win 5K one week ago?

If you think you need a break, then you probably do. I've taken a few months off from poker in the past... actually, once every year or so, and it does wonders for my game. I think it's the right thing to do.

  • Dev,

I too was impressed with your comeback (twice) last night. It was a pleasure to deal to you. I will see you at the big one tomorrow.

  • Yes the poker bank roll has been topped up after the 5K win last week. What I was bitter about yesterday was the $650 I gave back at the tournament on tuesday. I don't mind losing the $350 on the entry fee because you can't win em all. But what I didn't like was how I lost an additonal $300 in the side game afterwards. I suppose it's my own fault for not getting up from the table once I realized 8 of the 9 players were friends and had no regard for the money they were putting in the middle. When two of them were heads up, showed after the flop and checked it to the river because niether wanted to take the others money.....it should have been time to leave! But sometimes it's tough to leave the pond when you've got so many big fish in it! I also dropped another $700 the week before in a No limit ring game with similar players and similar results. I realize over the long run you want these players in your games for the big payouts......but on tuesday I wasn't willing to throw more good money after bad to try and win it back. It seems as though I've run into a number of poor cash games recently. That combined with my own poor play, I believe, only lends itself to increasing poor play. Over the past month my head has not been in the game and I know I haven't been playing my best poker. So it's simply time to take a break and re-focus. I'm sure, as you said All_aces, it will only improve my game in the long run. So one more big kick at the can tonight, and then a little R & R.

    Cheers!
