NAPC Day 1a - Oct. 26th Updates

Thought it would be good to have a daily thread to track the progress of forum members playing in the North American Poker Championship starting tomorrow at noon. According to Fallsview's site, spectator admission is free for all days including the final table television taping. Who is starting their quest tomorrow? I will add a link tomorrow once the action gets started. Good luck to everyone playing Day 1 over the weekend.

Updates

- approx. 174 players today [noon]

- players of interest day 1a: Gavin Smith, Barry Greenstein, Tuan Lam

- players in attendance (day 1b or 1c): Mike Matusow, John Juanda

  • Let the games begin! Not sure if anyone is starting today? I guess everyone is too busy getting ready and deciding what to wear, etc. Coverage can likely be found at this site starting at noon:

Yes, I'm too busy deciding between wearing a little black dress or a donkey costume since it's close to Halloween. ;) pokerJAH, do you think I look fat in the donkey costume?

Seriously, here are the players that I know are playing:
    - Sirwatts, me (Friday)
    - Dead Money (Saturday)
    - Doyle Who? & Bobby
    - 3 other players from my WPT league
    - several money finishers from the Casino Brantford tournament
    - Voodoo, Choron or xx23?

Good luck to all the forumers.

It will be fun tracking your progress today. Looks like you could play the Seneca tournament on Sunday if you are bored and want to keep the momentum going for Monday Day 2. Sirwatts is probably staying in Niagara so he might be interested. Let us know what other players you come across.
  • I'm playing Sunday, gl watts and everyone else, hopefully some Canuck will take this down

  • Cheer up Sir Watts!

Isaac Baron and two other players see a flop of Q83 for 600 a piece. On the second round of betting Baron opens the action for 1,200 under the gun. Seat 2 folds in middle position and the button makes the call. The 7 hits on the turn and Baron checks. The button raises to 1,800 and Baron reraises all in for 6,475 total. The button thinks for a couple minutes and then makes the call. Baron flips up pocket aces and the button turns over pocket fours. The 5 falls on the river and Baron doubles up on the hand to 17,400.

Why am I not playing this tournament with plays like this?? you think your 4s are good?? save your 4,600 in chips and move on.
  • Mike ALWAYS looks like that.

Good Luck to all our cpf peeps.

  • Railed Mike for the last level. Was very pleased when i saw him raise pre-flop with K8 and take down the blinds, but disappointed that he didn't show it and holler "KING EIGHT MAKE MONEY". Nice to see you with such a big stack Mike - good luck on Day 2!
  • im playing sunday
  • I had 23,700 chips at the end of the 25/50 level. The following hand happened after 8 PM.

Player to my right, who seems to be an online star and was being photographed earlier and asked for his chip count, raises three times the big blind. I wake up with
    :kh :kd
I reraise three times his bet. He reraises all in with
    :ac :ks
I make the correct call. Flop is harmless. One player mentioned that he folded an ace so the online pro is dead to two aces. I have more than 90% chance of doubling up. Just like at the Ultimate Poker Challenge final four when I was an over 80% favourite of winning with my pocket kings and getting 4/5 of the chips in play, you know what happens next.... :rage: IGHN.

Do you really think that you have an over 90% of doubling up KK vs AK with one dead ace? If you are talking about your status on the turn this is a strange way to look at a hand, it's like a buddy of win who flips vs AK and says he gets rivered when an A spikes on the river.

Anyhow, welcome to tourney poker...sure his all in with AK is horrid at this stage, but he likely has a deep enough bankroll to gamble at this point if he is a very sucessful pro.
