I Hate Poker
Am I the only member here that hates poker? If you were to monitor the things that I did online, you would probably believe that I love the game. I usually spend about 20 to 60 hours a week playing poker on the internet. I play poker because it is way for me to supplement my income. I would rather be doing something else to supplement my income, but I don’t have any other options at the moment. Some of my friends can’t understand how I can spend over 12 hours a day playing a game that I hate. I’m a good poker player because I’m patient, I’m a good card counter, (something that is very important in 7 card stud) and I am use to doing things that I don’t want to do to earn money. I’m a perfectionist, so if I had to rate my skills on a scale of 1 to 10 it would be a 7. I would probably be much better at the game if I liked it. Here is a short list of reasons why I hate poker.
1. I hate the fact that the game can always be seen on sports networks like ESPN, TSN, and Sportsnet. Poker is not a sport. It is recreational activity. Even chess or spelling bees could be considered sports because there are no elements of chance in the games. Poker should not be on sports networks. I wouldn’t even care if it was only on occasionally, but I hate the fact that I can watch a poker game on a sports network every week. It is also the most boring recreational activity to watch on television.
2. I listening to the majority of the comments that the commentators make on television.
3. I hate when people play with their chips. I hate the sound that it makes, especially on television because the chips are in close proximity to the microphones on the players. It amplifies the sound.
4. I hate people that over exaggerate about the skill that is involved in the game. I think it has something to do with the rush of dopamine that is released into the bloodstream of most gamblers when they win money. The chemical has the potential to change a person’s perception of the game. The best poker players remain in an objective and analytical state of mind at all times. The majority of poker players are usually in a subjective and sometimes delusional state of mind. For example, some people may get a gut feeling telling them that their opponent is bluffing or they might believe that their opponent grinds his teeth or holds his breath whenever he is bluffs. It’s all nonsense. A good poker player is only thinking about probability and betting patterns. Poker is a game of common sense, simple math, patience, and chance. I wouldn’t be surprised if some professional players are paid to over exaggerate about the skill that’s involved in the game. It can only increase their sponsor’s profits.
5. I usually hate when people over analyze the game. Most of these people are in the same group of people that over exaggerate about the skill that’s involved in the game. These are the same people are willing to waste their money on books to improve their poker skills. Most of the information in the books is either obvious or useless. Most of the useful poker analysis is done by a few skilled players, mathematicians, or computer programmers. All of the other information is useless.
6. I hate when people say “nice hand”. The online acronyms make me even more upset. (NH, VNH) I never respond to the stupidity. I can recall two occasions when someone typed a message saying that I was rude because I didn’t type TY after the person typed NH. It is a stupid thing to say or type because there is no skill involved in the process of getting a good hand. It isn’t the same thing as performing a difficult task in a real game of skill. If a basketball player hits a difficult shot on the court I will say nice shot. If a golfer sinks a difficult put I will say nice put. But saying nice hand to someone that gets a royal flush is like saying nice numbers someone that won the lottery.
That was my short list of reasons why I hate poker. If there is anything that I like about the game it is the fact that there are millions of bad poker players out there. It is the reason why I am able to make money playing the game online. I wouldn’t be playing poker if it wasn’t for the so-called donks.

This solves everything for you:
Blackjack is not considered a sport, nor will you see it on the Major sports networks.
No one will say "NH" unless you have Blackjack, even then your not guarenteed a win, maybe just a push.
Blackjack is a game of chance.
You don't need to play with anyone, just the house
You also said you counted cards, well here is where you can put that to the test!
Your post sounds like you need to change your recreational activity!!!!
- ENJOY & GOODLUCK ....you'll need it
I hate blackjack even more than I hate poker.
As I said before, I would be doing something else if I had other options. I don’t play poker for fun or because I’m bored. I play it to supplement my income. I wish I had the opportunity to play better skill based games for cash. I would be a very happy person if someone decided to open a skill based casino in North America. Imagine a casino or some kind of entertainment center where people could compete against each other for cash while they are playing the various games that they enjoy. The entertainment center could host tournament and leagues. (Videogames with little or no element of chance, chess, table tennis, bridge, poker, pool, darts, basketball, hockey, Ect.) The only difference between my idea and the professional leagues that are currently in existence is the fact that people would be using their own money to make money. Professional athletes and recreational players wouldn’t be depending on sponsors to make their money. Poker is currently the only option that people have if they want to use their own money to make a living from playing a recreational activity. Why shouldn’t a tennis player or a chess player have that option?
Nah, I posted the same thing a few months ago when I thought I was leaving cpf for good..
I think your post is bang-on.
Note, you can also see poker on CityTV and the Travel Channel. Oh, and Game Show Network for High Stakes Poker of course.
You can watch Black Jack tournaments on TV now too! Yessssssssssssssss!
Its not like I go into an erectile disfunction forum and bash you guys.
Get a job then
oh no you di'int
wait..why do you hate erectile dysfunction so much? pitcher or catcher?
Your pills stop working? why do you care so much? Unless he was one of your higher paying customers.
why can't you get a job?
OHHHHHHH SNAP
I think you misread the OP. He's in the situation where he has to play for the money but hates the game.. (aka, something someone who goes pro will likely encounter)
I nominate this post for a Ceepeffy.
Googling "I hate my job" produced this as the top result, hope it helps!

I have a job, and I wouldn’t be playing poker if I was living in a higher socioeconomic level.
Poker is not my main source of income. As I said before, I play the game to supplement my income.
Get a better job

my sentiments exactly!
I love how the majority of donks play it. Isn't that the point?
I can take bad beats all day long (and do). What really irks me, what puts me on a rare massive tilt, is when I play like an idiot. For example, somewhat deep in the Cake $2K last night, I flopped top two pair (AT) from the BB on a ragged board of three suits. I am not a frequent slowplayer, but this was a pretty perfect situation with an uber-aggressive player in mp and a calling station behind him. As the "master plan" unfolded perfectly, with uber betting and the station and I calling on both the flop and blank turn, the river unveils a second 4 for the board and uber sucks out. I lost about a third of my stack and recovered, emotionally and stackwise, but point to this hand as the chief reason I didn't perform better.
That my laptop is still intact is a miracle. But the culprit to my tilt was my trying and failing to be clever, not the uberdonkey. Betting out against these players could have paid me off well and my choice was probably the wrong one.
But that guy is why I love poker. And that guy is very possibly playing due to all the ridiculousness he sees on TV, all the things the OP says he hates. The I-watch-the-WPT-every-weekend-and-this-pokah-is-ez-guys are paying for my wife to go back to school. The "nh" guys, the guys who think they look cool playing with their chips, the guys who try to run you over to overcompensate for their tiny packages and don't bother to disguise betting patterns in the process...all too often they play with something other than their heads. On the other hand, the overthinking guys, who fold top pair to the minraise bluff with 3 of a suit on the board, are equally transparent. Time with all these guys is an investment opportunity for me. I'm not a good player, especially not in MTTs, but I'm better than many, probably only because I'm more patient than the average bear and have an ounce of self control. That's enough. My practicing those skills and that self control is zen for me.
I can appreciate the OP's comments but find it interesting that each of his reasons for hating poker I view as opportunities.
If you had read the topic, he posted above that he alredy has one, but where he lives the economy isin't great and he isin't making much money, so he needs to rely on poker to make more. Sorry to hear that man, but at least you are able to make money at poker, without it, you would have alot less money. And hey, where in Canada can you not make alot of money..?

I don't think anyone is complaining. I certainly didn't mean to sound like that if it's me you're referring to. I'm just offering my own reaction to the same stimulus but appreciate everyone is different.
I hate the Beatles. Many think they're genius. Whatever.

If it wasen't for donks there would not be much of a winning money in poker concept.
