It's Back!!! Degree Bingo Tournament

  • Hard to say, the last 2 yrs, they didn't e-mail until a couple days after, so maybe still hope.
  • The draw was yesterday at 2 p.m., i am not holding my breath on being picked again, but i also believe it was a day or two later that they started emailing.
  • I guess no one got an email? they probably picked a lot of players from outside Ontario who are unlikely going to make the trek for a freeroll. I would expect a lot of walk ons the day of the tournament. Although I think Rama gets to choose the walk on players. Not sure how?
  • I never get picked. :( Such is life....better to be lucky on the tables anyway.
  • Rama tournament is now sold out. Wish me luck :)

Wish you luck?? How'd you get in? oh.. and Good Luck!
  • I think he's going to try for a walk-up
  • What makes you think there are "walk-ups"??? Last year, at NFCR, there was 3000 players. This year, at Rama, there are only 72 seats, 11 of which are being given to previous contestants (that's right, people that already had a free shot at $100K). IMO, there will not be walk-up seats available....
  • I got one of the last seats; my understanding is any unfilled seats will be allocated to the top finishers in the June 11th tournament (in addition to the 5 guaranteed seats). So if five people don't show up on June 25th, then the top 10 from the June 11th tournament will get selected, etc. With people coming from across Canada, you figure there will be a few no shows. Making it to the top finishers in the June 11th tournament is the tough part. There will be no walk ups on June 25th, unfortunately.
  • Well, I guess congrats is in order.

    Good Luck JAH

thanks, but all I have done is bought a ticket; still a long road ahead of me on Monday. Hopefully the trip report will be interesting.

I wish it was. Monday seemed to start off great when I started off on table 1 (used as the final table) seat 6 which gave me a great view of all the players at the table. I always hate seat 1 or 11 as you really are stuck in the corner and can't watch all the other players. I decided to take my time with the first three levels and only play decent starting cards. I called a few hands in the blinds with garage and missed the flop completely (which seemed to be the theme of the day) and then would fold to any bet and would wait for a better opportunity. In the 50/100 blind level, I get dealt AdQc and raise to 250. The player on the button raises to 500 and I decide to call. The flop comes K82c and I check as does the other player. The turn brings 7d and I decide to try and steal the pot so I put in a raise of 800. The other player immediately raises to 4,000 which would basically put me all-in. I know I am beat but by the way the other guy is staring me down, I know he doesn't have the flush. I wish I have the chips to call his bluff, but I have no choice but to fold. He turns over a pair of aces, including the ace of diamonds. Glad I missed my flush :) This guy seems to be getting great cards as he also had a straight flush to knock another player out earlier. A little later I get AJ and a pair of 9s and call pre-flop but miss the flop completely. I'm not sure isolating with the 9s (putting in a big raise pre-flop) might have been suggested but with half my stack gone, I was hoping to hit a flop and double up at this point. My final hand; I'm down to about 1,600 in chips and get QQ. I raise to 500 (100/200) and the other short stack raises to 800. I decide this is it and go all-in for my remaining chips. He calls immediately and shows the KK. Unfortunately I did not improve and my tournament was over before it began. As noted in previous posts, a pretty fast blind structure that really eats through your starting stack pretty quickly. Anyone know who ended up winning the tournament?

    Garage?

Two Ace of Diamonds in one deck? I knew I didn't like Rama for a reason.
  • Ac, sorry about that. Bad night last night. Glad to see someone actually reading my posts :)
  • Doesn't look like we missed much...
  • I will be doing the commentating for this year's Degree Poker Championship, along with Michael Landsberg. Good luck to any pokerforum members who will be playing, but after skimming this thread, it doesn't seem as though any are. :(
  • sweeeetttttt devo

way to go on the gig.

  • Thanks Phil, I'm happy to be a part of this. I won't actually be at much of the tournament... most of our work is done in post-production. I think I might swing up to Rama on the night of the 25th though, just to get a sense of the atmosphere in the room.
