  • Hi there,

Can you please include me in this tournament.
    My name is Airan
    thx
  • How do I sign up????????????
Make sure you count me in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Whats your policy on showing up 30 minutes late?

    hahahaha.. :D
  • Fun game trying to guess what the buy-in is. It's like one of those "how many jellybeans in the jar" things. ;)

    My guess is $200.

    ScottyZ
  • My guess is 40 players at $100 each, for a 4K prize pool. 5 places paid...

    1st: $1620
    2nd: $1050
    3rd: $670
    4th: $430
    5th: $230

What do I get if I win lol....
  • 20 player tables, huh?

That'll require some very interesting strategy adjustments. ;)

    ScottyZ
  • Keep drawing to the 10-high straight with pocket 5's and you will do fine. :D
  • umm...whats the intersection for the game??
    and buy-ins?
  • LOL guys... I missed the 'two-table' part. Well then, uh, I agree with Scotty! $200...

  • On another note, you got me thinking about a 20-person table. It would be very 'Last Supper'. I'm thinking you'd need two dealers. A line would cut the table in half, leaving ten at one end as one dealer's responsibility, and ten at the other end for the other dealer.

Preflop, one of the two dealers (depending on where the button is) would start dealing the cards, and when he's dealt to the line, he'd pass the deck off to the other dealer, who would continue, and then pass it back, for the first dealer to finish off. All player's actions would have to be shouted: "FOLD!" "CALL!" "RAISE!" "RE-RAISE!" so everyone could hear. Of course, there would be two muck piles for the two sections.

Let's say 13 players see the flop. Where do you put the flop so everyone can see? Hmmm... I'm thinking dead centre, but you'd have to be using those cards that they make for very old people with huge numbers, letters, etc... Even still, I imagine the dealer(s) would have to announce the board.

Like the two muck piles, two piles of chips would have to be created, as well. After showdown, the dealer of the 'losing' side would push the pile to the dealer of the 'winning' side, who would then push the pot to the winner. Whichever dealer happens to work the side of the table that wins most often would receive the most tips.

The only way to isolate a maniac in a twenty-player game would be to sit to his immediate left, and try to yell a bit louder than usual when you say "RE-RAISE!"

Somebody please put me out of my misery... I can't seem to stop with this 20-person table fixation... send help... before... too late...

    Hey, I can play the board, can't I? ;)

  • Let's say 13 players see the flop.

I laughed at this for a good 3 minutes straight.

Also, thankfully, my bladder was relatively empty at the time.

  • You know what? Back in the day of IRC poker, I believe they *did* have 24 player tables (the maximum possible number of players using no burn cards).

    What a world. :)

  • Just over a year ago, at a home game of mine, we had 13 players at one table (couple buddies brought friends without checking first). Fortunately everyone fit around my table. Now imagine loose home game players who see 60-70% of the flops... very nice pots!!

The main thing I remember about that night in particular, was the tourney that we had. The first guy knocked out (wasn't me) starts a side game... not poker... CRAPS. He ran the game... as the bank... paid off everyone from his pocket, etc... ended up being down over $500!!! Haven't had a crap game since!!!
  • Make sure you get your spots only a few left!!!

Yeah, IRC was a lot of fun. *sniff*

    Also, top of this thread...

I'm glad you guys missed the $200 buy-in part. The whole 20-seat table
    bit was priceless.
  • I don't know about all_aces, but I missed it because it wasn't there...

Looks like I had the right guess though! :)

    That's a pretty ambitious buy-in for a non-casino tournament.

  • I missed the 2-table part, which was there to begin with....:D

Ding ding ding Scotty wins with the $200 guess, which was just confirmed. Does this mean he now gets to eat all the jellybeans that were in the jar?

I'm glad you got a kick out of the 20-person table professor--it got me thinking that it might just be worth trying sometime. Strategic changes.... non-nut draws would go way down in value? I think so. It'd be kind of like playing a 10-player game of omaha hi, in that 40 cards would be dealt preflop, but not really. Enough like it, though, to figure that you should be drawing to nut hands if you're gonna draw at all...

Uh oh. You got me started on the 'Last Supper' super-table again... :)

I emailed him last friday and got a reply saying that a seat was reserved for me. The organizer was very prompt in getting back to me though. He replyed to my 1st email in about 60 min.

However I had not heard anything since, inculding a location of the game.
Other than what's posted here I have no real specifics.
  • Looks like we're in the same boat. I also e-mailed, etc. but no location, time.
  • Likewise....I emailed him two weeks ago and received a couple replies. I even spoke to him on the phone to confirm my spot. I emailed him yesterday to find out the location and have not heard anything back??
  • I just recived the final info this morning. Yours should be forthcoming, I am assuming. It looks like its a go.
  • I will be attending, and I'm glad to see some others from here will be there as well! As some of you may have noticed, I'm pretty critical of steep blind structures, and this one is no exception. Time to gamb00000l!!!! Ah well, should be fun. I'll be the guy in the black 'OTR' hat, please say hi!

    Cheers,

  • I will be wearing my black "NOW Magazine" Cap, should you feel the need to identify me. Let the pokerforum.ca invasion begin.
  • Damn vacation! I really wanted to go to this game! Good luck, guys. Make sure you let us know how it went. I'm hoping to make the next one.
  • Hi all,

We have emailed out the address to all of you that have register, however hotmail seems to be acting up. If you have not got that info yet give us another try at playersclubpoker@hotmail.com or PM and we will supply you with it.

    SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW ;)
  • I'll be the guy with the leather blazer, no shirt and the gold chain around my neck.
Oh and maybe a "Las Vegas" cap...
  • See everyone tonight! I'll be the guy with the REALLY bad hangover and sunglasses.....and the glasses won't be poker related. They'll be to block out the headache causing sunlight! Not sure what the hell I was thinking, saucing it up last night till 4:00am...when I have to be at work for 8:00am!!??? I should be a picture of poker brilliance tonight. Feel free to take full advantage of my hungover state...

    Cheers

  • Well, the 'Player's Club' tournament was the best home tournament I've been to, that never happened.

Unfortunately, only 6 people showed up. Me, AcesFull, esool, garro, and two other guys who found out about it from (I believe) The Poker Resource. So, there was no 2-table tournament, but we did play some $3/$6 for quite a while, and I had a good time hanging out with these guys.

Basically, the two organizers of the tournament--who were originally going to be dealing--played as well, so we'd be eight-handed. There was another dealer there as well, who dealt the game for us. I would like to say a few things about the place. If you ever hear about a 'Player's Club' event happening again, I'd strongly suggest that you check it out. They feel that the $200 buy-in might have changed a lot of people's minds at the last minute, so I think they're going to plan a $100 event next time.

The 'staff' was wearing white dress shirts and black pants. They had two very nice home-made hold'em tables, good chips with their logo on them, chip racks, trays for the dealer position at the tables, dealer buttons, tournament software on a high wall-mounted television screen, a bar, etc... I have no doubt that, had the tournament actually happened, it would have been exremely well-organized.

As I understand it, this was their first 'real' attempt at hosting an event like this. Hopefully there will be more. They have cleared out all furniture from the first floor of the house, leaving just the bar, the tables, the stereo system and some TV's. It is the perfect set-up, the place is nice, and is located in downtown-ish Toronto. The two guys who organized the event seem very nice, and capable. Also, there was a meal served of roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn and gravy. Mmm mmm good.

Like I said, hopefully they try again, and hopefully it's well-attended. These events would be great for Toronto poker players. Oh yeah, they are considering smoothing out the aggressive blind structure, too... :)
