Poker IQ Test

  • I'm up for discussion of the correct answers. My IQ Score is 104. My highest scores were in Logic, Small & Medium Pairs, and Flop Texture.
    Logic
Logically analyzing the action during a hand is important. Players with strong logical ability are quicker to see where a given set of conditions is leading, better understand the technical aspects of the game, often move up quickly in stakes and have little trouble with bankroll management.

Your Logic score of 64% is exceptionally higher than your average percentile score. This score is better than 82.47% of all persons taking this test.
My lowest scores were for Blinds and Computational Speed - 0%. I was writing my answers down and the TV was on, and it took me two hours to finish the test.

it was an interesting test. the sort of thing that could generate some good discussions...

i'm thinking i'd like to post a bunch of them here starting next week to get everyone opinions on the correct answer. anyone up for the discussion?
  • I took the test a second time with identical answers to see what would change. The only thing I did different was that I took seven minutes instead of the two hours the first time. This one change not only increased my IQ score from 104 to 115, but also eight other categories! I went from an average player to a "low to mid stakes pro"! $5/$10 NL, here I come!

    Another part that changed was:
"You scored higher than your average percentile score in 4 individual ability categories." I think the first time, it said 9 categories and that 5 of these could be called statistically signficant.

So for those who have yet to take the test, set aside a time when you will not have any distractions, and record your 51 choices. If you take the test again, you can compare your previous scores and answers.

Aside from computational speed affecting the IQ score, another possible reason for the score discrepancies is that the test data is normalized so that the mean score is always 100. According to the FAQ, the total test takers to date is 15,804. Your scores are compared to the average test taker, so retaking the test with identical answers at another time may yield different scores because the average results have changed, i.e., you are "bell-curved" downward or upward.

i saved my answers. i'm gonna re-do the test later and see how much speed impacts the score.
  • They should have an interactive 1 table turbo SNG as a test w/preset hands it'd be longer to do, but would show how the player handles himself better than an A B or C quiz would IMO
  • I scored a 98 as well which seems like everyone did...Personally I think its a joke though cause you can never really say what you would do in those situations unless you were sitting there face to face with them. Anyone can say that they would lay down kings to an all in raise with a straight and flush draw on board, but how do ya really know unless your sitting there looking at the people playing with you. I dunno, I just dont think a test like this really rates how well you play poker.
  • I got 112 on my test, I'm satisfied w/my results, maybe I'll retake it in a month just to see if I get any higher or lower, I'm guessin' higher cuz I'm more familiar w/the tests layout and I could be a little quicker.
  • 117.
What did everyone put for the 2nd last question where "teddy kgb" over bets the pot with the 15000 into a 5000 pot. I picked call but It seems like going over the top is the necessary play now that I think about it.

you mean the last question? since we saw the movie, we all know what the 'correct' answer would be. sure would be tough though...
  • hey everyone,

i scored 90, i didn't pay for the critique of my scores though. i played each hand aggresively and reraised or went all in. retook the test done some pot odds and relatively conservative with calls and folds and still got 90. a fish is a fish and a donkeys a donkey. remember that when i'm taking your chips. ???
  • Got a score of 100...whatever that means...lol
