  • Well you know the Rocks are in! And we are coming for YOU!
  • 5 teams confirmed so far
  • The Royal Cup II champions - GTA :fish:Piranas :fish:- will obviously be back to defend our title. If the event will again be held all the way at K-W instead of the championship team's choice or a more central location such as Milton, not all of the Toronto players may be able to return, so I may be looking for replacements.
  • We'll be back, still confirming players.
  • We'll be back too.
  • Interested players considering to play as Team London let me know. I'm interested.....

    Buddy,

I am not opposed to you finding the venue and setting this up. Sandros ask me to do this again. If you want to work out a new arrangment you are welcomed to do so, just check with him.

  • I think you need to have near KW or Cambridge... 75% players are near there..

Maybe, maybe not. That's a whole other thread.

  • Looks like 8 teams if I counted correctly:

    Waterloo
    Kitchener-HBK
    Guelph
    Kitchener
    Lunatic Fringe
    Pirana
    Ching Hill
    The Rocks

    Waiting confirmation:

    Team Newbie

I will have a roster change to make in the next few days.

  • 8 is the current ideal for teams. The next leap logistically is to 10. I will start to post more on format and starting a reserve team/player thread for people who may be interested in filling in a spot or two or a team or two if demand is there. The ideal is to get everyone who wants to play in without blowing my brains out.
  • Sandro, I'm assuming the way we filled the tables last time will be repeated? I thought that was VERY well done and manageable.

Agreed. A big improvement over the first attempt where us captains rushed around last minute and didn't have a chance to think at all. My preference is still to do the HU placement during the last day though

I'd be more than happy to arrange this part Sandro. The other website we used last time seemed to work just well and I should be able to update that on a regular basis
  • Yes we can use the same format and the same site and Brad you can manage it too :)

    To quote Borat I LIKE
  • Are there any format changes being considered?

Three of my GTA Stud players will be unable to spend 12 hours at Kitchener that day. Several players have already expressed interest in joining the championship team, but if there are any more Stud specialists in the forum, please PM me.

Perhaps I can rent you a Rock... We have plenty of "Stud" players on our "B" team......
My former playing buddies from Milton's so-called "B" team are welcome to apply. Based on how the Milton Rocks "A" team did in the last Royal Cup (hint: they were not in the top 7 :o ), maybe compuease should let the "B" team should play in Royal Cup III instead. ;)
  • NO Format changes. A possible small adjustment on a blind schedule.
  • If team Newbie isnt able to get in due to numbers or we are not able to get enough players for the team, I'd be interested in being an alternate for teams that dont have one. Also , anyone looking for a team check the Team Newbie thread.

  • So does this mean we have 9 confirmed teams?

If so, I will start working up the placement chart for 9/table.

I know there was confusion last time, but are we going into the placing this time under the assumption that the order player are place at a table will also be the order in which they are seated around that table?

I think it's a good idea and seemed to work well last time for simplicity, but it would be nice to have a ruling before the placing as it can definitely have an impact on player placement.

I know some reams are still working on their completed roster (myself included) but if there are any teams who know their list could you pm it to me please :)

Also, if any of the captains want a copy of the placement chart pm me an email address and I will send it to you as soon as it's ready.

I will post here as soon as the schedule is up on the other site, with a link

  • New problem, how do we run the Stud section with 9/table?

Is there any chance we can run it as 9 person tables, or do we have to figure out a way to split the tables?
  • I think the chances of running out of cards are large on a 9 person stud table. Here's the rules from Robert's rules regarding running out of cards. Note: Roberts rules indicate burning of cards.

    14. If the dealer burns and deals one or more cards before a round of betting has been completed, the card(s) must be eliminated from play. After the betting for that round is completed, an additional card for each remaining player still active in the hand is also eliminated from play (to later deal the same cards to the players who would have received them without the error). After that round of betting has concluded, the dealer burns a card and play resumes. The removed cards are held off to the side in the event the dealer runs out of cards. If the prematurely dealt card is the final downcard and has been looked at or intermingled with the player's other holecards, the player must keep the card, and on sixth street betting may not bet or raise (because the player now has all seven cards).
    15. If there are not enough cards left in the deck for all players, all the cards are dealt except the last card, which is mixed with the burncards (and any cards removed from the deck, as in the previous rule). The dealer then scrambles and cuts these cards, burns again, and delivers the remaining downcards, using the last card if necessary. If there are not as many cards as players remaining without a card, the dealer does not burn, so that each player can receive a fresh card. If the dealer determines that there will not be enough fresh cards for all of the remaining players, then the dealer announces to the table that a common card will be used. The dealer will burn a card and turn one card faceup in the center of the table as a common card that plays in everyone’s hand. The player who is now high using the common card initiates the action for the last round.
  • Brad,

I do believe I have a seating chart for a tournament that has anywhere from 7 to 10 teams already made up. This was in anticipation of the tournament expanding after RC1. I am away from my computer this weekend but can let you know Sunday when I am back. Also 9 player stud game is not in those plans. I had the Stud spread over 5 tables and there was a table who had 8 players the rest with 7. There was a random chance of being on the 8 and the points would have been altered to make 7th and 8th the same pt value on that table. ANy other suggestions? Let me know

The seating chart should match the placement chart as well.

Do the defending champs have a full team?
How are the other teams doing?

Our team is currently at 7. A couple people have gone MIA but we should be able to field 8.

Ching Hill is ready to go. Just like to get the seating done as soon as possible and get this thing going. I'm assuming the venue hasn't changed?
